Absolutely amazing game, tons of divisions, good gameplay, high skill ceiling. DLC's are fair prices and often in discount. There are so many diffrent playstyles and ways to build your own decks. The campaign is rlly fun and can be played with friends. Overall rlly fun game.

Took me forever to try Eugen systems games because they looked like glorified line drawing from the way they are advertised. In reality I they are incredibly good at making positioning, line of sight and unit composition all matter without making their games micro hellscapes.

This game is something else!
If you're a RTS fan and you love playing these type of video games, I can highly suggest this.
It's a very fun experience, it is even better to play if you have friends, and you can play single as well, but you need to have a couple of hours before attempting that since either the mechanics are too complicated for you or you think the AI might be too hard to deal with.
It also has campaign stories, but most of them are DLC and you have to wait for a 50% sale on each one in order to get them at a fair price, the rest exclusive content is debatable whether you consider them an investment or not.
By far, you could say it is underrated and it can be difficult to find others in order to play with, but there are public lobbies out there and there is no shame playing alone as well; so in any case, worth during sale time!

Amazing game! i love the historical accuracy and the realism, it really hooks you in and is very entertaining. There is one thing that could change in this game, having transport planes that drop paratroopers anywhere on the map. It will give you an upper hand in a tough position, not only that but some transport aircraft could be fitted with supply crates to drop to friendlies helping friendly gun crews get ammo quicker. In general its going to make the game a bit more fun. I'm pretty sure there are other players who will agree with this review. So, Devs please add paratroopers and supply drops from transport planes.

I've gotta say, this form of rock, paper, scissors, tanks, grenades, artillery, planes, etc... and shoot is really fun.
It's been a constant stream of updates and although the game is entering a later stage in life; there are plenty of good community games still going and the single player is not all that bad either!
I really enjoy the Army General and special battles where you can really work on all kinds of different strategies. It takes some getting used to and that is something that makes this game unique. Now I'm not saying that as a particular compliment as it is more of a learning curve, but this iteration of strategy games from Eugen is one of my favorite. Warno has been out, since a long time now but there is something that attracts me to Steel Division over Warno.
Both are good, and I'd say there are mechanics that are superior in Warno, but they existed as well in Red Dragon. Those mechanics are not in SD2, which create challenges unique for this game.
I'd recommend, the game for sure!

While the core gameplay of steel division is solid and enjoyable, the DLC pricing is ridiculous. Essential units and factions are locked behind multiple overpriced expansions, making the base game feel incomplete without them. It’s frustrating to see so much content carved out and sold piecemeal, especially when some DLCs barely justify their price with minimal additions. The game ends up feeling more like a platform for expensive micro-expansions than a full strategy experience. Buyer beware: if you want the "full" game, be prepared to spend way more than the base price.

Steel Division 2 is an impressive real-time strategy game that immerses players in the complex and brutal realities of World War II’s Eastern Front. Developed by Eugen Systems, it serves as a sequel to the well-regarded Steel Division: Normandy 44, expanding on its predecessor’s formula with a larger scale, enhanced tactical depth, and a richer strategic layer. The game captures the intensity and chaos of large-scale battles between Soviet and German forces in 1944-45, offering a deeply satisfying experience for fans of historical strategy and military simulation.
One of the most compelling features of Steel Division 2 is its scale and attention to detail. The battles unfold on expansive maps that accurately represent the varied terrain and weather conditions of the Eastern Front, affecting unit movement and visibility. Players command a wide variety of historically authentic units, ranging from infantry squads and tanks to artillery and aircraft, each modeled with remarkable fidelity. The game’s real-time tactical combat demands careful positioning, timing, and combined arms coordination, rewarding those who can adapt quickly to fluid battlefield situations. The inclusion of fog of war and line-of-sight mechanics adds to the realism and tension, requiring players to scout intelligently and anticipate enemy movements.
The strategic layer in Steel Division 2 is equally robust. Before battles, players customize their deck of units based on limited resources, forcing thoughtful choices about which troops and vehicles to bring into combat. The game’s dynamic frontline system in campaign mode challenges players to think not just about individual skirmishes but also about broader operational goals, managing reinforcements and supply lines across a shifting battlefield. This adds an additional level of strategic planning that enriches the overall experience, making each engagement feel like part of a larger war effort rather than isolated encounters.
Multiplayer is a significant strength of Steel Division 2, featuring a variety of modes that cater to both competitive and cooperative play. The game’s well-designed matchmaking and community support create a vibrant online environment where players can test their skills against others or team up for intense cooperative battles. The balance between factions and unit types is carefully maintained, though mastering the game’s nuances requires time and practice. The steep learning curve might initially intimidate newcomers, but the depth and complexity provide a rewarding challenge for those willing to invest the effort.
Visually, Steel Division 2 presents detailed unit models and environments, with realistic animations and effects that enhance immersion without sacrificing clarity. The sound design is excellent, with authentic weapon fire, engine noises, and battlefield ambiance that contribute to the tense atmosphere. While the graphics may not push the boundaries of modern visuals, the game’s focus on functional clarity and historical accuracy serves the gameplay well.
However, Steel Division 2 is not without its drawbacks. Some players have noted that the interface can be cumbersome, especially when managing large numbers of units and coordinating multi-front battles. The AI, while competent, occasionally makes questionable tactical decisions, which can affect single-player campaign immersion. Additionally, the game’s slow pace and demand for meticulous strategy might not appeal to those seeking fast, arcade-style action.
In summary, Steel Division 2 is a thoughtfully crafted and deeply engaging strategy game that excels in delivering an authentic and challenging World War II Eastern Front experience. Its combination of tactical depth, strategic planning, and historical accuracy makes it a standout title for strategy enthusiasts who appreciate methodical gameplay and large-scale battles. Though it demands patience and dedication, the rewards of mastering its complex systems are well worth the effort, making Steel Division 2 a must-play for fans of detailed military strategy.

Well made game; if you're a fan of RUSE and want something way more complicated yet with a hundred QOL improvements, this is it.
If you're not 30 years old and don't know what RUSE is, then still get this because it's just about the best WW2 RTS game on the market, and pretty much set the bar for every other dev.
