Worth it on sale! I enjoyed my time with the game and in no way expect endless updates. However I can't deny the mysteries can start to feel repetitive after you've played about ~10 hours? (However modding support is present)
Not entirely sure about the claims of content being unfinished but I can't refute them either, the sort of thing where stuff *feels* off but its hard to place and easy to ignore if you get it cheap and don't get extremely invested. I can however for certain say the game has a chronic issue of dev silence lol

I would honestly recommend you buy this game off a reseller site if you want to play it and not give the dev any cash.
The game is fantastic and as close as we would get to a Junji Ito styled horror game. There are mods that finish what the dev promised years ago.
The dev, who i legit felt for when he had major crap going on, just pushed merch. $300 USD watch merch to give you an idea. I might be slightly off on the price, so please verify for yourself.
The game was hyped beyond belief, had amazing reviews, worked perfectly on most systems.......
And the dev ditched it. Just left. Then came back and got everyones hopes up with the merch drop. Thats why the reviews are so insanely low.
Buy a reseller key or something. Dont pay for this. It is completely abandoned and has been for a long while.
RIP to a potential blockbuster game. Just tossed it in the toilet.

As someone who loves the Junji Ito / Lovecraftian aesthetic and has a love of horror in general, I absolutely LOVE this game. Unfortunately, I can't say too much about the developer "abandoning" the game, leaving the game supposedly unfinished, etc. However, it doesn't feel like an unfinished game. The different mysteries, protagonists, mechanics, endings, etc make it feel like a different run each time. I can sweep one run and completely bomb the next and enjoy both of them. If you got only a few minutes to game, this is an easy one to pick up. Sometimes not completely knowing what's going on is part of the fun of the game, which it encourages.
If you have the same love for the genre of horror as I do, I believe you'll like this game. I don't think it's meant to be a 100+ hour game, but I've seen reviews where people do have 100+ hours in it, which says something about it, especially compared to perhaps other indie horror games. Enjoy the lore that World of Horror has to offer!

Game is cool, I like the vibes but... it's abandonware.
Developer teases an update with QoL features and fixes, then disappears.
No notice, he's completely disappeared for 1 year and a half, game is "unfinished".
After 1 year and a half the first post is some corpo bozo (maybe the dev?) selling us overpriced merch.
Nah bro.

There's good stuff in this game, but it's the same good stuff as there was when I first bought it. It seemed clear that there was much more planned, and after years of silence in early access they just seemed to give up on that. There's been another update hinted at, but I wouldn't hold my breath. To be clear, this is not a quality problem, the game is great, this is more about undelivered promises and unreached goals.

The game itself is fine; good ost, good art, plays kinda like a Junji Ito themed version of arkham horror, so if you're in to that you may enjoy it.
However, the dev has a habit of teasing an update then vanishing for potentially years at a time- if this were someone's passion project on itch.io that they were showing people a demo of, that would be fine- for a fully fledged product that people paid for and were given expectations by the dev, that is not fine.Last time I checked, there are still placeholders quest items in the game we were told would lead somewhere, but don't. There's still a game mode missing. And, to top it all off, the dev partnered with a publisher to push merch that costs 170-240 dollars each- he's trying to wring the last few drops of cash out of the game he abandoned, even though most of the community's goodwill evaporated years ago. For these reasons alone, I'd say don't support this kind of bad behavior.

After 150 hours I can surely say I love this game. It does have a really rough learning curve but once you are able to get past the first few playthroughs and unlocks things the game really opens up.

Don't let the recent backlash against some overpriced merch fool you, it's a good game. I enjoyed my time with it plenty, it's a very fun take on narrative and turn-based horror, highly evocative of its source inspirations. Easily moddable too, if that's your thing.
