8-bit homage to the illustrative works of Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft where you fight horrors beyond human comprehension to unlock a lighthouse with an unnecessary amount of locks and stop several mad-as-hell gods as they attempt to stop Japan from creating anime. 9/10, excuse me while I crawl into a hole made just for me.

Hour long, rogue-like jaunts into a 2 bit Japanese horror world. It plays surprisingly like the Arkham Horror board game. The dev has apparently abandoned it, but I still think there's value in the unlockables and broad variety of experiences in this push-your-luck simulator.

i really love this game, but unfortunately i cannot recommend this game for few reasons 1. game has stopped on version 1.01 and i dont think it will get any updates soon 2. game is 100% rng based, so most "mistakes" and game losses feel like it isn't even your fault 3. there aren't many mysteries after you get to know all of them 4. start of the game feel like "reroll your mysteries untill you get ones without boss fights at the end of them" 5. fighting kind of feel empty, or it just might be my skill issue, because it's mostly "dodge, prep, attack, repeat" (for me at least) so, i said that i love this game, so now i'll tell reasons why 1. artstyle is amazing 2. mysteries feel really immersive if you're doing them for the first time 3. i love the fact that this game is kind of rouge-like because from doing achievements you unlock more content 4. i just like to turn on game, turn on one round that will last less than 1 hour and have fun 5. UI feels really complicated if you're watching someone playing this but in reality this UI is very simple 6. i feel like i have still A LOT to do after 20 hours of playing (i have 33% of achievements) so, that being said my biggest issue with this game are no updates and heavy relying on rng so i will change this review after this game gets an update that will satisfy me

The game is good and addictive, but it has been abandoned. It is incomplete and has not been updated for almost 2 years. Unless you find a very good promotion, I do not recommend it.

Alright first steam review, you bastards forced my hand. Let me explain, this game was made by one person, whom shot themselves in the foot by over-promising much within a much too small of a time frame. This is another tragic early access mishap (early access is a garbage system). And I felt the need to do my part in skewing the reviews more towards positive. Did they take too long to make this game? Maybe. Did they screw up by giving the trailer these amazing black/white animations, making people assume they would be in the game? Yes. (They shouldve just made a standard gameplay trailer, the art is amazing enough to stand on its' own) Does it deserve all the hate and review bombing? No, absolutely not. And just to be clear, you think by review bombing and hating on the developer, that will motivate him to come back and update the game? Why would it, clearly the community has expressed an insane amount of hate towards the dev, I imagine the animosity is two sided at this point. I've been keeping my eye on this game for a long time, and the hate started way before 1.0, if you're curious. I just hope it hasn't soured their motivation to make another game. To Summarize quickly, the game has amazing Junji-Ito Inspired art, Mysteries based/influenced by very obscure japanese horror movies (I caught that Mermaid in the Manhole reference), Tons of random events that makes me see new sick art every time I play. It is a turn based JRPG, Horror, Mystery, Rogue-like, which is unique in and of itself. If you're a massive horror buff or Junji Ito fan, I think you should give it a shot when it's on sale. If you're not a huge horror fan, this may not be for you, because you will be missing a ton of references and details. I do consider the RNG events and rogue-like nature a plus, but some may consider it a minus. ALSO ALL THE ART WAS MADE IN MS PAINT!

Uniquely creepy, sets a perfect atmosphere for fans of Japanese horror films and manga. Insane replay value with the base game alone, let alone with the massive amount of mods that passionate players have created for this game. There are a lot of complaints about the game being “unfinished” with plotlines that reach dead ends, but: 1) The creator is probably burnt out! This was a one man show and one can only keep something like that up for so long before they have to move on to the next thing. 2) The most terrifying things reside in the unknown. If something isn’t explained, that can only add to the mystery and feeling of apprehension. 3) This isn’t a hard game to mod! If you’re positive how certain things should turn out then get to work! For what this ended up being, I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. Give it a few spins if you got some extra change to sling around.

I love the Idea of the game but it's currently unfinished and probably won't get any new updates in the near future (currently 1+ year without any news) if you get a good deal check it out

Dev has abandoned this game, so do not expect any further updates. That said, there's a sufficient amount of content here and there's a healthy modding community if you're looking for more. Vibes and music are immaculate, definitely worth playing if you are a fan of Junji Ito's work
