Very cool little game with great presentation. It's very simple and chill, but the interface is cool and the writing is very good, the story of main character and the ecology of the world you explore are very interesting.

While it starts of slow and can get somewhat boring due to the simplicity of the mechanics, In Other Waters has hooked me with its dissonant sounds, minimal-yet-expressive interface, and powerful story.

Plays out like a version of the Subnautica story where you have to imagine the scenes and events rather than being shown them.
Would have liked it to have achievements, but ultimately not necessary.

I liked the game, and the way the world is explained, sometimes the contrast is not the best for reading, but other than that i really liked the story and the way the game works.

A treasured experience of mine. If you're interested in an intriguing world to explore from a audio/textual experience, this game is so wonderful! It's use of simplistic visuals gives the game a book like feel, where the details are filled in by what you read and hear as well as the sparse visual details available. The result is a world that feels rich and full of life that immerses you even if you can't see it, or at least if you have the right kind of mind to imagine it so :)

An incredible story game that blows every other VN out of the water. Clearly a labor of love along every axis.

A beautiful meditation on the wonder of the world around us and the importance of keeping it alive.
While this game, with its text-heavy exploration, abstract art style and not particularly exciting moment to moment gameplay might not be for everyone, If you are looking for a serene contemplative experience that lets your mind's eye wander, it might very much be for you.
The way I unearthed the layers of this alien ecosystem, specie by specie, description by description, each one more evocative than the last and revealing new aspects of the subject for me to imagine, just gripped me in its own unique way. A kind of zen sci-fi, fiction just for its own sake.
In other words I went on a walk after I finished it and saw a pretty blue bird. Instead of just smiling and walking past I took a picture of it and managed to find the specie to read up more on it. Call me Minae

The three highlights of this game from my perspective are the graphics style and art, the story elements, and the speculative biology. The game is not hard, but at some points does require a bit more attention. I enjoyed playing using a controller, and found it fascinating enough to complete the taxonomy entries. Overall a good experience.

The game is good if you like small exploration games, however - the switching between scanning and moving is tedious and the movement speed is really slow. The story is okay - however it doesn't really get going until the last third and the love story at the center of it is unresolved. The DLC artbook apparently tells the story of the planet, but I feel like just leaving the central relationship unresolved leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This game isn't for everyone but it's for me :)
I would recommend if you:
- like to read creature description in your game
- like exploring every nook and cranny of the map
- enjoy a slow pace game
- don't mind game being short
- don't have a problem with dialogue heavy/visual novel games
I would not recommend it for someone who:
- don't like shorter game
- don't like reading
- don't like turn base/ game without action
- can't function without in game mini map
- don't like same sex romance in the narrative (even implied)
Other than that I genuinely thought this is a very well made game. The only complain I have is the ending which feel a bit rush, but it did not detract from the overall experience.
