Tango: The Adventure Game Reviews
A point & click adventure based on the legendary life of the greatest Tango singer, Carlos Gardel. With a strong grasp on Argentinean culture, it guides the player through a very charming story full of rich details of an early twentieth century Buenos Aires.

Short adventure game that's heavy on the story telling. I would've liked for it to go further into either adventure or storytelling, but it was in the shallow end of both camps. Was fun in the moment, but I don't go back to replay it.

pros
+ well drawn colorful and cartoony hand drawn background artwork and cut scenes
+ easy puzzles (if you don't want to challenge)
+ fun mini games
+ nice musics
+ there are colorful cast of side characters
+ when you press to space, hotspots highlighted so no need to pixel hunting
+ there is auto save
+ there are steam achievements
+ there is a map for fast travel
cons
- lack of voice overs really robs game's enjoyment
- game is very short
- i think game appeals to more children
- storyline wasn't particulary well developed, funny, memorable or interesting
- frequent loading screens
- some puzzle solutions nonsensical and make any sense
- unskippable cutscenes
- no cards
- considering it's short lenght and very indie nature, i think game overpriced.
Overall, i found this point and click game quite run of the mill and uninteresting. there are similar and better point and click adventure games and i'll recommend to you play those games instead this one.

Love the story and the aesthetics, undoubtedly it's a unique game and, as a long time adventure gamer, I am completely satisfied with my purchase. And it's on sale!
So unusual to see Argentine lunfardo in a game, this has to be the first time I've seen anything like that since the original Truco game from the 80s!

Really fun and charming adventure about tango culture, somewhat based on the life of famous "tanguero" Carlos Gardel. It has lots of jokes, with that kind of ridicule and light-hearted humor from LucasArts adventures (it even breaks the 4th wall and has lots of little references and easter eggs to adventure gaming in general). The puzzles are really well designed, they are mostly inventory based with a bunch of smart mini-games thrown in there. You'll learn a lot about tango culture in general, specially from "lunfardo" the slang used by "tangueros" back in the time. Being an argentinian myself, it was a blast playing this game in Argentinian Spanish. Totally enjoyable!

Tango is a history lesson in an adventure-game wrapper, which in principle is cool but in implementation is a muddle. The creators attempt to teach the origin story of Argentina's famous dance partially through the gameplay's setting and partially through the plot's occasional intersections with dancing, singing, and guitar-playing, but their main teaching tool is simply to display randomly selected history facts on load screens. The history lesson is not as effective as it could be because the game does not connect with the history facts in any appreciable way. This alone wouldn't make Tango a bad game (just a bad teaching tool), but unfortunately there are other failings that keep the game from being fun:
– travel is a grind – Getting between two areas (which happens a lot in any adventure game) takes FOUR steps: click to exit the area, load a black screen with a history fact and click a tiny button at the bottom to continue, load the map and click destination to select, load another black screen with a history fact and click another tiny button at the bottom to continue. This becomes tedious very quickly, especially since there are only a handful of facts and repeats start appearing almost immediately.
– dialogue attribution – There's no voice acting, so all dialogue is conveyed through captions. Some games handle this well with subtle tricks. The Dream Machine deals with this wonderfully by placing each piece dialogue near its speaker and using colored text to distinguish speakers. Tango, though, places all captions at the bottom of the screen and renders them all in the same white text. It's attributed, but it still becomes very tiring to keep track of who is saying what.
– dialogue advancement – All dialogue advances on a timer, which is generally slower than needed, so clicking to advance faster is usually prudent. But there are some big paragraphs that are hard to read within the time limit, and many that are right on the edge. At least ten times I missed text by clicking to advance right when the auto-advance triggered, thereby double-advancing past something unseen.
– text size – The dialogue is small enough to force you to keep your head pretty close to the screen, but the load-screen facts are so huge that you have to move your head back to read them.
– translation errors – As of the game's release, there are many, many errors in the English text. Most are simple grammar mistakes, but there are bits that are still in Spanish and others where the wrong piece of text has been translated.
Tango is never going to be a great game, but if the above discrete issues can be fixed, it could be a fun-enough game.

As a professional musician and someone who has visited Buenos Aires, I thought this would be an enlightening experience. Sadly, the best part of the game is the animated title sequence cut/scene which plays after completing the prologue. Just should have made an animated feature instead.
Some rather annoying timed mini-games, poker hands which make no sense, and overall clunky and confusing design. And then they have to throw in the meta point-and-click references, ugh...
If I could rate neutral I would but this did not leave me with a satisfied feeling...

A charming PnC game telling a humoristic story based on the life of Tango singer Carlos Gardel.
I was quite impressed how the game could tell a very serious and somewhat sad story but in a very humorous way.
And we could also learn snippets of Argentina history.
Adding to this, nice visuals and a beautiful soundtrack, this was quite a fun play.

Really small game. It's not offering even two hours of playtime, if you consider that I was afk for about 15 minutes and I have 119 minutes of playtime. The puzzles aren't difficult, although I didn't find the solution immediately in some of them. Still, it's a very beautiful and funny point and click adventure. I would call it a "nice first try", but I am expecting more hard work from you in your future games. I enjoyed the game, don't worry, but it could have been a lot better, to be honest. Till next time, I'm going to find another game to point and click now.

At a glance, this game looked something I would enjoy immensely, but after actually playing the game and finishing it, I am deeply disappointed.
First of all, it has some very noticeable loading times between the locations when using a map. It’s a beautiful game (with simple 2D graphics) but I don’t see why it loads the same amount of time on my PC as some complex 3D game, like Dark Souls.
The game has an extremely little amount of puzzles (or any content) and still, some puzzles are not logical - like offering a guy a random ball in exchange for a rare coin. The guy hasn't expressed any interest in the ball, so this feels super random. Then there is a glass window in front of the bars in the prison cell. I understand it’s a cartoony adventure but this is beyond ridiculous.
Now to the real problem. The game is about one hour long to get 100% completion (I have more time on my record just because I stepped away from my PC when the game was running a couple of times) and it costs 7.39 EUR. Let's take a look at the other games in the genre I recently played: Lamplight (14.99 EUR) and Unavowed (14.99 EUR). Any of these two offers ten times (or even more) the content of Tango: they have more characters, better and deeper story, voiceovers, more interesting achievements, overall, those two are both an unforgettable experience, and yet the price of Tango is only half of any of the aforementioned games.
The game is not just short, it feels like demo-short. The story felt hollow - without a proper beginning and a proper conclusion, just like a demo game would have as a glimpse of a full product. It starts with a prison break and then, while getting away in a car after the break, the main character tells a short story that doesn’t have a logical ending. That is all.
In the end, I was happy to support the developer but I can't recommend this game, really. The only satisfaction I got was from some of the dialogues and the art. Otherwise, the game is extremely forgettable and is not worth its original full price.
