https://youtu.be/2mwp155Mn-A The strict story campaign can be a turn off, it does come from voices often missed with a heavy cultural importance. Mechanically the experience is straightforward but unique and worth a look.

Nice game. Definitely worth it on 80% sale. Kinda short but for ~1.5$ it's definitelly worth it.

It never stops being satisfying to beat up a bunch of slave owners and free people. The translation is clumsy, and quite a few mechanics aren't sufficiently explained (how does Banzo work? How much defence do I need to repel the average attack on the quilombo?), but once you manage to get enough people in your community to turn things around it's smooth sailing to the finish line. Overall the game is quite rough around the edges, but worth the price for the cool setting and gameplay that's entertaining for its short runtime.

Banzo - Marks of Slavery is a nice little game, that tells the story of resistance in the quilombos in Brazil, the pixel art is very preety and soundtrack is amazing, it's mechanics is preety simple and since I'm not a huge fan of turn based strategy games, but this one is very easy to get into. I recomend if you'll like this style of game, or just want to meet more of brazillian culture.

This game has an unique subject, focused on Brazilian history during the 19th century. The storytelling is interesting and immersive, especially for those who don't know about the historical outcome. I'm not really a fan of the management genre, but the story kept me going, even though I'm bad at it. That speaks volumes about the game. I highly recommend this title, give it a try if you want something exotic! =D

After giving the game a good amount of time played, and after having taken the time to get 100% of the achievements, i can say that the game is genuinely fun. Along with a very interesting story line, that takes you into history, it allows for you to play the game alongside that history so you can truly understand what life was like in a cool way.

"Banzo - Marks of Slavery" explores Brazil's dark history of slavery through engaging storytelling that cultivated my appreciation for the strength and determination of the portrayed characters. Despite the heavy subject matter, the game features restful and compelling music, an interesting and concise story introduction, and the ability to customize scenario difficulty. While the tactics-inspired art style and somewhat slow pace may not appeal to all players, the exceptional soundtrack is a particular highlight of this unique and meaningful narrative experience.

This is a nice game with an unique story. Pixelart is great and combined with the isometric view reminds me Final Fantasy Tactics art style. The game is a bit slow, but is okay for a management game, I guess. The sound track is particulary wonderful, I must say.

Banzo is a game that shows a dark period of Brazil's history, when slavery was still acceptable. However, the engaging storytelling made me feel the chapters in a unique way, and I really could appreciate the strength and determination of that people represented in the plot, commanded by the strong figure of Queen Zeferina. The style of the game requires a bit patience of the player, but those people who like management certainly were already prepared for it. The pixelart is beautiful, but the strongest point of the game is the MARVELOUS soundtrack! It is really heart touching! Great job, guys!

Bottom Line Up Front --> Intially charming music and story inro cannnot overcome hidden gameplay mechanics which can lead to surprise insta-lose. PROs -- Restful and engaging music -- Interesting and short story intro -- Random events which can be ++ or -- , which lend interest but are not game-breakers (good or bad). -- Some custom adjustment of difficulty of custom scenarios is available. -- Excellently priced at about $1.30 (on sale, with tax). CONs -- Repetitive gameplay -- Lack of guidance that failure to do a mission is Insta-lose. -- Lack of clear guidance at the start of a mission, as to what qualifies as success. -- The fact that failure of an interim mission is insta-lose. -- Graphics are low quality: slightly better than pixel graphics. -- Custom scenario locked up on me after about four turns. I do not consider myself hard to please; and the fact that a game does not challenge my computer's integrated graphics is not a turn-off. But the game ought to offer something. If all that a game has to offer is interesting gameplay and an engaging story, then it ought to deliver that in spades; and, for me, this one is just not up to par.
