A game I kept meaning to come back and finish. It's what games used to be about, cheesy comedy, killing things for fun, stupid story line and overall fun movement shooting mechanics. The only painful part was the grind to get the 'Bucks Revenge' achievement. Everything else was enjoyable.

finally beat this underrated game. it was fun, hilarious, makes u feel like a superhero. 8/10 the story is not really a masterpiece but it was entertaining. it's kinda hard to get the money to unlock weapons tho. gonna put 2 hours more to finish the DLC.

I have never been able to play this game without constant crashing and save corruption. What I was able to play was fun but I have no clue what core problem would cause this issue.

Ever since I played this for the first time on Xbox in 2015-16 it has been a favourite for sure, no other game has given me the feeling that this game gives, the art, the game play, the over all style of game to the nostalgia. to me its perfect. Now years later and after years of not owning an Xbox I thought Id never get to play this beauty again, until I thought to check steam and there it was, reunited with this game after almost a decade. To me and hopefully to some others this is one of the best games oat, its fun and dumb in all the best ways and everything just feels right with it I couldn't recommend it enough. For the past 10 years whenever I got asked what my favourite game was I never thought twice about it because my answer was always Sunset Overdrive.

Sunset Overdrive is pure, chaotic fun — a colorful explosion of movement, absurd humor, and over-the-top action. + Incredibly fluid traversal — grinding, bouncing, wall-running, and air-dashing all blend seamlessly. + Wild arsenal of creative weapons (TNTeddy, Roman Candle, Flaming Compensator) keeps combat fresh. + Bright, stylized visuals and tongue-in-cheek tone make it stand out. + Doesn’t take itself seriously — fourth-wall breaks, ridiculous characters, and constant gags. + Mission variety is high, with a mix of defense, exploration, and absurd challenges. - Story is thin and mostly a backdrop for the humor. - Combat can feel repetitive if you ignore movement combos. - PC port lacks some polish (occasional bugs and optimization issues). Verdict: A vibrant, fast-paced playground that rewards creativity and style. If you like your open worlds loud, weird, and full of explosions, this is your kind of game.

This game has always been unique, held a special place with me after picking it up randomly at like 13 on the xbox one from CEX, I can say it's one of my favourite games of all time and always will be hence why I got it on PC 6 years later with the firm opinion you should try it. First with the flaws which are unfortunately possibly game changing for some, the PC port compared to xbox has a bug where one of the save files are always corrupted there are guides to fix this issue but make sure to use the non corruptible or corrupted save slots or you could lose everything and I wish Xbox game studios fix this but they unfortunately never will. With the flaws out the way this games intro is very neat being a decent tutorial for the movement and combat but one thing it doesn't necessarily explicitly tell you till the later tutorial that doing different tricks, moving around a lot with said movement tricks build up your combo meter which makes you stronger in combat, you can pick these bonuses and acquire more later on. The vast arsenal of weapons are great. go well with certain functions/builds, you have to experiment, fool around to see what your combos are, what feels most comfortable to play and makes the game generally more fun or convenient. For certain upgrades collectables around the map need to be gained which made them less of a chore like other games with an actual reward, you will pick these collectables up naturally as you traverse the map as intended and go about combat encounters properly always using your environment for non stop momentum. Customisation is a bit simple but I don't mind it much, others may think differently but each to their own. Clothes and accessories are an abundance even after the main story you unlock more miniature story lines such as the oil rig which are just as fun and don't really dip in quality also adding a bit more difficulty too I found. The soundtrack is 10/10 punk rock. Overall to me this game is easily 10/10, a genuine masterpiece and timeless classic. Just a shame this game didn't seem to be as popular as it should have been, ending up underrated in opinion and not any hope of a sequel.

Pure Chaotic Fun Sunset Overdrive is one of those rare games that manages to take pure chaos and turn it into a work of art. From the second you load in, the game throws you into a world that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly what makes it such a blast to play. The movement system is the real star here. Grinding along rails, bouncing across rooftops, and chaining together wall-runs and flips feels buttery smooth. Once you get into the flow, traversal is so fluid and stylish that just moving around the city is as fun as the missions themselves. The game rewards creativity—why run and gun when you can zip-line above a horde of mutants and blast them with an exploding teddy bear launcher? The weapons are classic Insomniac: over-the-top, hilarious, and surprisingly deep in how they can be used together. Every firefight is a playground where you’re encouraged to experiment, and the more ridiculous your tactics, the better it feels. Visually, the game still holds up beautifully. The vibrant, comic-book art style makes everything pop, and it’s a refreshing change from the darker, more muted tones you see in a lot of modern shooters. The humor leans meta and self-aware, constantly poking fun at video game clichés while never overstaying its welcome. Most importantly, Sunset Overdrive never stops being fun. Whether you’re tearing through mutant hordes, customizing your outrageous character, or just goofing off with the traversal mechanics, the game keeps delivering pure joy. It’s a reminder that games are supposed to be fun first and foremost—and on that front, it absolutely nails it. If you’ve been looking for a fast, colorful, and completely unrestrained open-world experience, Sunset Overdrive is a must-play.
