It cost four dollars and its 20 hours of fun. Yes, it's too easy. But you can up the difficulty, and its fun to mess around with the different abilities and combinations.

I bought this for 3.50 (cheaper than a beer at the tavern)
I was unsure at first due to such a low price, but after a very short time in the combat, I loved it
....then spent another 3.50 to get demons rise lords of chaos
for the price, you cant go wrong, turn based hex combat, TONS of replay value, gear, monsters, characters to choose from

This is a well-designed mix of turn-based action and specialist development (through items) that is fun to play for a short period filler. The story will not carry you along with its fantastic developments or interesting character growth, but I stayed up later than I planned more than once for "one more run" in the patrol missions that accompany the campaign. I have played it twice through and done all but three of the patrol missions as well.
The campaign is made of 4- or 5-scene segments that each add a layer of complexity, villain badassness, or needed handling skill. After each segment, the characters reset to full stamina, health, and skills. Each segment (campaign or patrol) gives you random magic items to assign to a character or sell back. I will not lie. There is a certain sameness to the adventures. Despite new powers and strength levels, the opposition works in a very similar way each time. You will develop techniques or priorities based on what you see forming. However, that very sameness works for a strategy fan the same way as a mystery novel does for those fans. How many times have you wished that you could just load up a random X-com battle instead of having to load up the campaign and try and figure out or remember what was going on at this point? This game is built for that kind of action. Unlike Fort Triumph, there are 30 or so character types to try. Unlike Low Magic Age, you can quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of a character class. (Except that mages seem hard to rate until you've developed them more; I never caught onto what I should have been doing with the Chronomancer.)
Characters gain levels through experience, apparently by killing things. You will also gear them for the fight. Each character type can use certain equipment, and there is more than enough to go around. The second time through, I experimented with the ground troop Knights. I loved the reach on his halbard, because it let me get to people and attack many without counter attacks. He was way too slow, so I geared him with movement tags at first. Once he developed more speed by leveling, I switched his gear to crits and counters so he could do more damage with his actions. You will do the same with each of your characters.
Positives
* Easy to start a scenario
* Fun stat growth and modular skills through gearing
* Characters develop jobs and feel like specialists
* Character quoting is shallow but flavorful. You always know who you have when you hear them.
* Replay is fun for combining your six hero types out of all the choices
* 90% of the game can be taught to yourself without tutorials.
Negatives
* Is for workmanlike quick scenarios rather than emotionally-connected campaign
* Repetitive enemies and situations make you feel like you've been fighting demons and rats underground forever. It occasionally felt like the devs dumped several powerful groups into a room and then let them fight you and each other to moderate the high power level.
* Tutorials do not run on my machine, so I may be missing functions that I did not figure out
* Final scenarios are not well called-out, so when the game ended, I was as suprised as the bad guys I just slaughtered.

The game is fun but you can't position your party the way you need. to. When using special abilities, the characters often target the wrong direction. Game play needs to be improved.

Is this game in a league with games like Baldur's Gate III, Pathfinder Kingmaker, Divinity II....No. Is it fun? Yes. Intuitive. Varied. Simple.
No need to get bogged down in something else, just a straightforward game. Fun to play! Cheap! Get it!

Hi all,
Thought this was going to be an expansion to the one that came out a week ago.
NOPE! it is a stand alone.
It is pretty much the same as the Chaos one, but with more hero's, more scenarios etc. Turn based RPG.
For 4$ is it ok? Sure
Do I wish they were both the same game and you could carry your hero's over from one game to another? Absolutely.
-BUGS-
1. There are times where you end a turn and it stalls and bugs out, you have to reset the fight and start over. This is happening ALOT!!!
2. Enemies get stuck on terrain tiles and you cannot target them, but they can still attack you!
3. Legitimate typo's that need to be corrected in character texts. Example a. Using "2 rounds" vs. "two rounds", stay consistant. b. words mashed together like " tworounds" with no space. There are quite a few actually that need to be addressed
-Annoyances-
1. The Characters you could select in the previous version were way better.
2. I still wish there was more to do.

Second entry in the Demon's Rise series:
Game is responsive and optimized. Full keyboard and mouse support.
You basicaly create a party of six characters from 30 units or use a themed group and then start the Hub>turn-based tactical battle>Hub festivities.
The story is light but serves its purpose without getting in the way.
Once in your hub, you can:
- replay every level you've already finished.
- pick a quick battle from a list that expand as you progress (think replayable side quests/adventures).
- change your units (switching heroes doesn't cost anything and the new unit gets the same level as the one you removed and gear is kept if usable or sent to your inventory).
- gear them up with post battle rewards and trips to the shop.
- spend some gold to get the gods' favor (also obtainable through combat and allows you to use special powers during battles).
- recruit mercenaries for a few battles (play with seven units instead of 6).
During battles use cover, morale and special hexes to your advantage. There are also winning conditions such as "hold 10 turns"/"Kill the boss"...
Each unit has its movement, action points and skills that evolve as units level up.
The option to speed up battles is also there and adds to the already fast paced overall flow.
For the price, i expected a lot less polish and depth, so hat down to Wave Light Games Inc for the Demon's Rise games!

So this game is not worth $20. It's like an ipad game, just a series of turn based tactical battles with very little story. BUT it has interesting character classes, random attribute improving equipment from a variety of sources (loot, store, rewards) and many stats, skills and tactical situations and combinations that have me saying just one more turn. Fun in 15-20 min increments when you want to play a game, but don't want to get into a EU IV campaign or something heavy. For the price, it's got a bunch of interesting decisions and if you can put up with the old school graphics, it's fun and bug free for me so far.

Bought this on sale for $4. I live in california and $4 won't get you down the street. That being said, this is possibly, (arguably) the best $4 I've spent. I wouldn't be mad or disappointed if I paid $10-15. Thats it's price range. It's a fun game thats turn based, lots of equipable slots for armor, weapons, and other gadgets. Pretty cool buy. If you are a fan of "closer to classic" but still modern and affordable turn based games, then buy it.
Buck for buck, great game, okay english grammar, and a decent soundtrack. Would recommend even if the price is $15, but no more than that.
Side Note: The developer seems to be very active. As soon as there were problems reported they attended to them immediately. Good on them.

Excellent game!
It's pretty much the same game as Demon's Rise - Lords of Chaos, but instead of playing the evil guys, you can play the good guys, or a mixture if you choose.
There are 30 different characters to choose from to make your adventuring party of 6. Lots of variety with tons of replayability!
The developer of this game is awesome! Really seems to care about the games and releases patches pretty fast to improve the games.
If you like dungeon-crawling with a party of 6 and turn-based combat against undead, demons, and other assorted monsters; then this really is the game for you! :)
