Best part of this game is the plot. It is very interesting, and cute characters. I will definitely try to pass it again on new game+ or a higher difficulty. Maybe with Japanese Vocal. I was very suprised by Japanese ending song (developers are not Japanese as far as I remember), though good avertisement for the DLC. There are tons of minuses, but game worth it, just buy it. Minuses:

Bugs, tons of them. For example, there is triple jump, it works most of the time, but sometimes it decides to stop working. You will never know when. Sometimes it works in opposite direction, allowing you to jump 5 and more times in a row (without walls). I will mention other broken mechanics separately.
Controller support. If you are planning to use firearms, don't play with controller. It works very limited, compared to the mouse and keyboard. Game menu is on trigger (Just WTF...). Considering that there are unused buttons, I don't understand why. Besides that, UI control with controller is just painful, it is almost completely broken. Just use mouse for that part.
You can drop difficulty but can't rise it up, you will have to start a new game. I accidentially changed game difficulty, because was mashing buttons during fight, accidentially pressed trigger and double pressed A (Jump) to confirm it. Decided not restart, it was already middle of the game. Yes, drop difficulty button is default when you open game menu.
There is a food, that replaces your HP with Shield, works great on monsters. But last boss is just broken, some of the boss attacks simply wiped Shield in split second. While after switching back to HP I almost didn't get any damage.
Sometimes attacks are not registred. At least on the dummy. My records was less than 100DPS while DPS on mosters was around 4000. I have suspicions that it also works on mosters sometimes.
Summoner build. Considering that this game is about necromancer, it is weird that summoner build isn't thought through. Problem is that after death all your summons disappear. On bosses it just makes you powerless, as lots of your damage comes from summoned creatures.
Most of the food is for sword class weapons. There is not just more food, it is literally 2-3 times more than any other kind of weapon.
Last boss. It is not thought through. You need to climb up to hit it, but the screen is almost completely covered with projectiles, and you have to avoid them and climb up, but you almost don't see where, because everything is covered by particles. Also sometimes there is nowhere to climb, and you just have to wait and get damage. Also, you can't leave this boss, though it is possible with other bosses (to learn more suitable weapon, or upgrade food that would be more useful here).
Platforming. I found few places where you don't have an option of not taking damage, sometimes huge amount of it. So, take damage worth half of you HP, and wait for it to be regenerated. Including broken tripple jump, makes it painful.
Settings are not being saved.
This game was played solely on the steam deck. I did encounter issues. When navigating the menus or cook book, the game would sometimes stop recognizing the stick or dpad input and I had to use touch controlles. I had two random crashes while playing. While not related to performance I did notice some misspelling and grammar. The story starts as cute anime girls cooking monsters then spirals to H.R. Giger horrors. The story is enjoyable but nothing that compels you to keep playing. There were portions of the game that made me audibly laugh. The combat is simple but fun. You get new recipes from cook books and they provided power ups. Boss fights are fun and have a bullet hell portion to them. Enjoyable game but I would wait for a sale..

Dungeon Munchies is an underrated game that more people should be aware of. The overall gameplay is simple yet fun in that different food gained throughout the story progression allows the player to gain different passives and actives, some of which synergises allowing for minmax builds. However, the main focus of this game is the compelling worldbuilding, unique characters, and pretty good humour. With Simmer and Grill being both cute and funny at times, the story was very enjoyable, which was something unexpected upon buying this game. One issue of this sidescrolling RPG is that difficulty between the bosses and certain areas of the early game was quite inconsistent, with some bosses being easy while others being significantly harder. After a certain part of the story, the player is just able to shred enemies, snowballing the areas until the next cutscene or story event occurs. While the game is not very long in duration, the likeable characters and interesting story definitely captivates. Honestly, more content of Simmer and Grill would be great (they're quite cute) Rating: 8.7/10
