all i can say at this point that the platforming feels clunky and it kills any desire in me to engage in combat later on

WarriOrb is far from the worst game I've played, but the only appeal for me were the visuals. In some ways it reminds me a little bit of games like Venture to the Vile, a similar looking game that shares in common a lack of good map (Ok, that game has an overworld map, but eh..).
Plaforming is quite tough, precision platformer would probably be a good tag, though it is also kind of slow and floaty, not the most appealing character handling for this. Combat felt fairly simple and wasn't exactly fun, with the slow attacks and movement either.

Fun unique platformer with the bounce mechanic. The game plays somewhat nonlinearly especially in act 2 with some metroidvania aspects with some basic secret finding, but I would not call this a metroidvania despite users custom tagging it as one. It's more of a straight forward puzzle platformer. It's not anywhere close to a souls-like game either. The biggest defining characteristic of any souls-like game is the ability to roll (with iframes). Like salt and sanctuary. That's probably the staple souls-like platformer for reference.
There are optional side quests that are easily missable. Especially combined with that there is no warning at all when you're about to reach the point of no return before moving onto the next part of the game.
There are a lot of game breaking bugs I encountered, but the developer was able to edit my save file to the actual game breaking bug. Otherwise, just random inconsistent bounce mechanics or items not registering sometimes.
One reason why I picked up this game was many reviewers said the game was hard. I played on insane mode and most of the difficulty I had were some of the trash mob clearing in act 2 that were optional but I decided to spend a long time trying to kill some mobs (I also refused to use any magic for a long time that I eventually had to give in). Many spoke of platforming sequences that required frame perfect jumps. I'm actually confused because I barely saw anything of that nature in this game. Most of the platforming sequences in the game were fairly simple especially the ones involving the homing green ball.
The bosses were fun, though I wish they were a little more mechanically challenging. The last boss was severely underwhelming. The only reason it took so long was that it took forever to kill his first form that quickly became redundant.
The trash mobs were underwhelming as well. Except for that one fight in act 3 right before the long green ball platforming sequence. That fight took some optimizing/practice also because I died in like 4 hits. I tried act 1 on normal mode after beating the game and the hp reduction and dmg reduction makes a huge difference. I can't see combat being challenging at all on normal mode especially combined with the fact you can make check points and avoid a huge penalty for dying if it happened.
I wish more was done with the bounce mechanic. When I first started the game I was so confused because normally in platformers you just have a jump. In this game, I initially thought many different types of jumps needed to be understood. I.e. stationary ball jump (very minimal height) vs regular jump (slightly higher) vs jump bounce vs jump bounce hit the ground but don't hit jump etc. More of these mechanics could've been used especially with float mechanic that comes into play later for some cooler boss fights that required use of this, but no. The bosses were relatively simple. It was just that most bosses just had one attack that was particularly hard to dodge so the whole boss fight revolved around figuring out how to dodge that one ability before beating the entire boss.
Overall, I had fun with the game. Originally I had intention to replay the game to get missed side quests and attempt the speedrun, but the initial difficulty of the game quickly died down and with the underwhelming last boss it was just boring at that point. Would've been cool to see a longer game and put to use the unique bounce mechanics.

Do not trust this game. This game is unholy. A siren's song of digital code and deep lore. It baits you in with a cute ball character and a grumpy wizard, and you start play. You see little puzzles for you to learn, and it holds your hand teaching you as it leads you. Like a wonderful goat mom eager to see her young child progress through the game. You start to feel special as you do slightly trickier and trickier puzzles. True they're difficult, but oh it's not so bad. A few falls, a little recovery, and off you bounce your merry sword strapped on way.
But no, this is all false, it's only a few hours in that suddenly the hand is yanked away, and your tossed into a cavernous maw with test stones and bouncing between pillars as big cages easily squish you to your death. And then you can fully hear the siren's song along with cackles of evil laughter telling you it's no longer playing fair. No now you're in some sort of puzzle version creepy lovechild between Bennet Foddy's and Dark Souls. you keep trying over and over, seeing your round orb body getting squished, crushed, bounced and plummeting to it's death over and over. And the little times you get a spark of hope it's rapidly yanked away as you barely miss an edge, and you bounce, not just fall, bounce away so you fall right in the middle of the pit with no hint of pity. And after all this you managed to get through, you played the game in ways you're not sure was intended and somehow get to the next part. Oh that's when the worst comes in as you need stones to raise a platform, and they're all gone.
You can't get them back. They're all back at the beginning. and your only choice is to die, to go back, refill, and try again but do better. You will feel your spirit crack. Your soul howl with despair and rage as you die just to try again, and again, and again. and looking for help you find little resources, and the ones you do are doing the same thing you are, so it's pointless!
And the worst part, the absolute worst, after you walk away, cool off, and regain what little sanity you had left in your broken spirit, you want to go back and keep trying, because you know it's not impossible. You know you can make it if you give it.
One.
More.
Try.
This game will take you on a rollercoaster ride promising you sweets and candy, and you'll end up with super hot and spicy candy balls and an empty dread as you try one again to clear that cavern.

It's a fun little indie game.
I feel in love with the world and the idea of "balling" around.
However the game will punish you if you don't play the way it wants, thus said it's a good game but a little to hardcore.

There's no map. A tough as nails metroidvania is fine, but not when I am asked to simultaneously use my brainpower on trying to figure out where to go. Gonna have to refund this on account of this massive omission, but hopefully a map gets added later and then I can consider buying this again and actually playing it.
edit: OK, I changed my mind about refunding since I just remembered I paid almost nothing for this.... still, I hope it is improved eventually. Aside from the lack of a map, the other problem this game has is that you're teleported away for taking damage, even if the damage isn't lethal. This pointlessly wastes the player's time. For those looking for a precision platformer metroidvania, I recommend buying unbound world's apart instead as it is basically this game but properly designed.

This game started off as something very enjoyable. Fun story, nice graphics and exciting puzzles.
But the further I got the more it relyed on doing perfect jumps and timings. It got to the point that I just stopped playing. I hope the developers can make some helpful mechanic for places that are really hard. I think myself to be a person with a lot of patience and I like to play hard games. But some places in this game just broke me.

I normally only leave a review after completing a game, due to health issues making an exception. In my opinion, this is a decent game well worth the value of 15 to 20 USD. It is heavy on platforming with minor puzzle solving and combat. The combat is rather limited with issues I have noticed that I am sure the devs will fix. One such issue as an example is with the demon sword using it's alternate/special attack. The animation is missing frames and just looks bad. Now, with that being said, I can't find any other issues. Would be nice if there was a block feature for combat. That is about all I can complain about.
I am currently playing on the hardest difficulty level. I didn't even bother trying any other. Right from the start I felt a little regret that I have done such due to missing out on side quests., however there is replay value. So don't fret so much if you make the same mistakes as I have with missing out on things your first run. No spoilers. There is story/lore in the game and it just gave me a Tomba vibe. If you ever played Tomba 1 or 2, you would know what I mean.
The difficulty of some of the platforming/puzzles may seem daunting... And even cause frustration. Thing is, they are very easy once you take the time to analyze the situation and figure it out. Trying to rush leads to "ruin" and not all hurdles have just one solution. Some have multiple. As for bugs, I only came across one and have told the devs of it which I am sure they will fix.
Instead of just giving pros and cons. Giving this an 8 out of 10. If you want to play a game with difficulty that won't hold your hand while also being fun, this would be it. Now, I know people will judge this saying... "You didn't beat the game yet, your opinion means nothing." My rebuttal is as followed. You don't need to complete an entire game to get the grasp of it. If my health currently wasn't so poor, would have finished it. Also, you can watch youtube videos of the game play and see for yourself instead of just taking my opinion for it. Look at the other reviews. Rather positive, even from those complaining. That alone should say something. So...... with that being said. Just get the game if you are looking for a new game to play.

First: If you're playing this game, note that there is a "Forgiving jump" option under Settings->Game. Otherwise timing the jump requires pressing the jump button right before you land, which is different than most other platformers. With "Forgiving jump" set to "Always" I found this game far less frustrating.
Otherwise, it's a pretty chill puzzle game with occasional combat. The nice thing is that once you kill a pack of enemies, they don't respawn.
The environmental puzzles can seem difficult at first, but you need to master all the jumping and bouncing techniques. Once that is done, it's not bad.
The story is interesting enough, and if you look around you find little notes and memory stones figuring out what has happened to this world.
Overall, I think it's a pretty good platformer with some fun bouncing mechanics.

Ok I am not a "Gamer" In fact I am a grannie, but I have some skills :-) This is an amazingly, incredible game. It is NOT easy, but it is addictive, "I CAN do that jump" 3 days later, I make the jump it is really rewarding. I am hooked, but after playing the likes of "Ori" I would PLEAD with the developers to make a Map! I like to go on a MISSION.. and complete. Without a map, I conquer an incredible jump sequence then, I am Lost as where to go next. This is an incredible platformer, Controls are SO precise, timing is everything. Prepare to DIE! (a lot) but you always have those angel wings to protect you a million times. Very clever. I love your game and I will continue to die and jump and bounce. Well done!
