Objectively, I think I'd say this is as good as The Crooked Man, which is the best game in the saga. So right off the bat we've already improved on the last two games and got back to where we started, which is nice. Not to diss the other two games, they're still good, but this was an improvement.
The gameplay is...nothing special. It's the same as the last few, walk around, watch cutscenes, solve puzzles, maybe get into a chase or two...you know the drill, but that's not why we're here.
The story on the other hand is quite beautiful. I like how they incorporated the past protagonists into this game, it feels very smoothly done. I also like all the new characters they've added as well. It's quite touching, and feels just as cheesy as TCM (which is a good thing imo, I like that these games feel like an anime movie). I'd also recommend playing with VAs on, as while they aren't professionals, they do add a lot to the story.
The only reason I'd put TCM above this game is that it connected with me more. TCM moved me to tears, this story was just an overall great story. But comparison is the thief of joy, so forget I ever said anything. But yeah, recommended.
