It looked fun, but it's buggy in some pretty major ways. I've had my backpack stop working, the main row only populate with 3 cards, spells not work for unknown reason, all sorts of crap. When it is working properly, it's not very interesting. Minor tactics and hp management more than anything, seems like...

This is a simple card game with allot of RNG. None of the mechanics really get too deep. If you like to flex your strategic muscles a little, while not having to worry about being screwed over by unfair advantages. Then you might like Card Crawl. Though people use to RPG combat mechanics will have a easy time with this. I do not expect anyone new to the genre to pick it right up, and enjoy it because the RNG can be quite frustrating. It is easier to win in this game, and is allot more fair than Solitaire. Though the two games are almost entirely different in how you play them. Card Crawl has some mechanics, and rules that are more advanced than what players of solitaire are use to, and that could throw them off. I enjoy it for what it does, but I often get bored after so many matches. I start thinking about what could have been a really well developed card game, with deep enough mechanics to keep me engaged. The game does feel repetitive, and has nothing all that special about it to remember it by. Apparently the game has other modes of play, but there was nothing here to compell me to play enough matches to get to 20 wins to unlock anything else. That is one it's most annoying features. It is not a overly serious game, and for that I liked it more. It is also extremely easy to learn, and atleast for normal play, not that hard to master. You will win just by following logic, but you may fumble a few times like I did. If you don't pay enough attention to the cards you are dealt. Do I recommend it? Well I think for the price it is worth giving it a try, but do not expect it to keep you engaged. I have been playing it casually from, time to time. I consider the game to be a good way to spend some time just having a bit of fun. Unfortunately this title is not going to stand out from the crowd. There are better games on steam, but for the low price you will be hard pressed to find something better. Still it is a fun romp for when you want to get into a quick game.

Based on the card game Scoundrel (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/191095/scoundrel), Card Crawl add extra cards to it and makes it into a very fun digital game. Yes the cards can at times work conspire against you. But given how short a game is, I don't mind. Recommended.

I wish there was a neutral review option. The game is fun, but once you grasp the mechanics there is hardly any challenge and the only challenges you can "overcome" are for visual upgrades. Sadly this game gets repetetive and grindy, with no payoff... the game is fun vor a while and has potential... yet its lacking something.

I was going to recommend this game because it is so cheap and for a couple of hours it is a bit of fun. But unless you like a game with almost no strategy and massive grinding, it isn't worth anything. I dislike this type of game and regret the time I put into the game far more than the money I spent buying it. Winning a round in the game isn't the point, it would be hard to lose if you don't pay attention to your gold/score. The game is all about maximising your score. You do this buy cashing in as many of your items, swords, shields and potions, as you think you can spare. The strategy is obvious but whether it will work is pure luck based on how the monster cards are distributed. The only point of getting a high score/gold is to unlock special ability cards. Some of these are interesting but it is completely random which cards you get in a game, and I believe you always get the same number of these cards regardless of how many you have unlocked. So you grind a massive number of games to get cards that mean very little, not fun.

This is a close call: The game is well done and fun for a few hours. The main issue for me is that you are always playing vs the same deck. So it is getting old pretty fast. So thumbs up for the first few hours of gameplay - down for long term motivation. The tie breaker for me is the low price. I would not recommend the game if the price tag was higher than 5 bucks.

Great game to play for one evening. After that each crawl is kinda the same. I played and won a lot of games, but still no access to delve mode. This is to grindy.

All of the other game modes are locked behind a lot of grinding for unlocks, and the base game is way to boring and straighforward to justify it. Its a fun and cute novelty, should let the player use all the cards and game modes up front or have them be much easier to unlock.

The premise of the game is fun... but the endless grind required to even unlock some basic features like "Dungeon Delve" makes this an instant regret-buy.

I'm so glad this game is on Steam now! I loved the demo version on my tablet but didn't want to buy the full thing from Google. I've become a big fan of Arnold Rauers' digital card games. They're all beautiful-looking and play well. CARD CRAWL is a perfect balance between his other two games--not as simplistic as MIRACLE MERCHANT, but easier to grok than CARD THIEF. Keep in mind, this isn't a Golf-style solitaire game like SOLITAIRICA or REGENCY SOLITAIRE; rather, it's a single player dungeon crawler where you equip items (swords, shields, potions) get loot (coins) and fight enemies (horrible horrible things) using the cards you've been dealt while listening to some relaxing music. It requires focus to play, but doesn't feel grindy. Every deal is a new adventure! I look forward to exploring all the unlocks the full version of this game has! [EDIT] Just wanted to add that this game has become my go-to game to play while listening to podcasts or LDS General Conference talks. Which is good because I need to listen to these things!
