Still in the tutorial for this turn based strategy game, which seems pretty good so far. Game play mechanics are promising.

What an inventive and good step forward for the genre! Really fun and creative game with a ton of branching choices to pick and choose from. Loads of replayability with so much role playing potential.

Had a fun time back in the days, hope for Planetfall 2, the customization is great on the game and they ended the last patch with a high note with the empire conquest mode instead of milking it like usual.

Yeah, years a later. AOW:Planetfall is still fun enough to play although I remember late game there would be problems with dungeons becoming unexplorable with enter button vanishing and only known fix is to save and exit game then reload the game. Not very good solution when playing online with friends on large maps. It also happened in single player too. I think its the last major bug that never got fixed.

Good turn-based mechanics, replayability. For long games or when I need to just burn a short time, it works well. I like the diversity in units, ranking up, and changing out attachments. Diplomacy, as most turn-based PVE games are, is lacking, but there's only so much to expect, and it gets by. Espionage and tactical map affects remind me of Master of Magic. Which is a good thing!

The game likes to freeze for auto combat, it likes to freeze on loading screens, and it likes to freeze on enemy turns.
Honestly this game is borderline unplayable. It's also an older game and these issues have been around for years with no fix. I would avoid this game, it's just not worth the headache.

just because I read some comments about the game not beeing playable due to it opening in windows mode and the mouse seemingly not regisetering: There is an easy fix. Use the keyboard shortcut for window mode (e.g. alt+ enter) and everyhing should work fine again. If you change it in the options menu to fullscreen the game will launch in full screen from here on as well.
For all who care about my 50 cents about the game: It's a great game, with a beginner unfriendly UI. Lot's of status efffects explanations are somewhat hidden or are missing some vital info, espacially in the research trees (During combat they are better explained on the unit cards.). I think this game loop as a lot of potential and i'd love to see Triumph Studios make a part two.
