After playing many campaigns on this game and trying out this and that, i will say its a fun game over all. I really dig the time period and how it focuses on just this one area (lol area so much more is going on). I also appreciate the Civ approach it feels like, I'm not familiar with many other titles beyond empire and napoleon, but the behind the scenes politics can be both fun and a pain in your royal rear. My major gripe with the game is the only way to move territories is to fight and capture it. you cannot trade it diplomatically as a bartering chip, no matter how many you capture. I wish you could use land as a bargaining chip, it would make for more fun campaigns i feel. the only way to give an ally land is to hope rebels take it over and that the ally gets there first, everyone flocks to rebellious states for the land. beyond that aspect, love the game. very fun battles. depending on the campaign, it is not joking when it says "hard" even "easy" has its own issues internally, all in all, a great game. If you really like making longggggggggggg campaigns and tactically this and that, this si the game for you.

This might be one of the best Total War games I've played. Idk why it wasnt well received but i really love the almost Crusader Kings style game play of managing your kingdom. But that's just my opinion. Overall, i recommend this game.

A lot of replay value... If you want a little bit of CK feeling but more control in army and focusing specifically in GB, this is your game. Here's my first gameplay experience: Choosed a kingdom in Wales, stopped all rebels, raised different armies and knights. I was in preparations to attack England, 3 turns before I had a new general appointed for a new unit that I wanted to use to assist to my main army but guess what? The general I appointed was a piece of horny pervert.... He threatened me for loneliness, he literally attacked the whole Welsh Army because I didn't find a wife for him... So, I didn't know how to find a wife for someone in the game, (After I found out how but I didn't know in that very moment) what I did was well... using my main Welsh army to him... Yes, a single person vs whole Welsh Army! That's crazy but he was more crazy because he was crazy for women and yelling at me "GIVE ME A WOMAN!! WOMAN, A WOMAN!!!., I NEED WOMAN NOOOOWW! Well, sorry mate but I have to kill you coz that's what I am taught... I started the battle, he was abused by all of my soldiers and at the end he died... no one ever cried for him (in this game, if you kill known people, population mourns and cries, they literally make funerals... ) Anyways, I recommend this game 100%, as you discover more features, you want to play more and more. If you want a different experience, get this game.

This is a great game, and a amazing Total war title. Way more historacally accurate that MED2, even though it takes place on a smaller scale. Awesome game.

I have less hours on this game than any of the other Total War titles but enjoyed each and every hour of said time. This game is actually well made, especially when contrasted to games such as Three Kingdoms from the same franchise.

I have played this game on and off for over 5 years, and I've truly enjoyed it. While not the greatest Total War Title, it still shines in its own way, I loved the way battles occurred and the many provinces on the map. The game truly explores the depths of The Isles. My favorite part of the entire game is the unit tiers, it is incredibly rewarding to tier up your army and decimate the enemy, both politically and strategically. Overall, I enjoyed the game, but if its not on sale, I wouldn't recommend it.

Definitely one of my favorite Total War games. Not only do I have a grand fascination with this time period in Britannia's history but I also love the art style, the minor changes that make it unique like the villages, the satisfaction you get when you conquering all of Scotland, Wales, Ireland or England. Overall its just a fun Total War. I think a lot of the negativity comes from the limited scope, limited unit choices and overall just the fact that nobody really wants it. Everyone wants Total War to make a Medieval 3 or an Empire 2, but at the end of the day if you're not that picky its a fun game to play every now and then.

I think this game gets undue hate. It has really solid battles, especially sieges when compared to later total war games. A real treat for fans of the setting and the Early Medieval period. Requires a different approach in regards to the campaign map in relation to central towns and outlying minor settlements. That lends itself to a skirmish/guerrilla style with smaller armies to raid/occupy the minor settlements, which is refreshing as a long time fan. People complain about the unit diversity but I feel CA did a good job given the tactics and armies of the period. An added point is the attention given to Ireland, seeing it rendered beautifully, and not just a one province island was a joy. Definitely more punishing in terms of expansion but I really love that armies are expensive, the new recruitment feature, and that warfare is costly both financially and politically. Overall your economy is slow to get up and running, and I enjoyed the 'anti-snowball' mechanics which keep a campaign interesting for longer. After all during this time armies weren't huge and maintaining soldiers and large kingdoms was difficult and expensive. Finally, an honorable mention for the more CK style additions like being able to turn Mide into the Kingdom of Ireland and Gywned into Cymru was a really nice touch. If you're looking for a historically accurate (within reason) and more challenging total war experience, with great battles and not the mention a stunning art style from the music to the visuals then look no further.

In my honest opinion this game doesn't deserve the hate. The game has unique features for most factions, and the sieges are great. But do to negative review bombing early on in this games life cycle the game became abandonment and some bugs are still in the game do to CA not working on it anymore. I do recommend getting the game on SALE as it is not worth 40 bucks, but it is still a good game. I had alot of fun in this game
