Goblin and Coins II Reviews
Years have passed, decades maybe. Little goblin moved on, all but forgot about the great coin trouble, not even realizing that a new trouble is awaiting behind the doors!

Goblins and Coins is an addictive adventure that I would recommend for someone looking for a fun, easy to play game. I am a beginner player so the game is challenging but not too difficult, so far. The graphic is cute and colorful, like in those old games I've played with my brother. I am really glad my boyfriend recommended this game to me.

A true retro gem. This game takes me back to my childhood and super mario platformers which were my introduction to gaming.
Initial levels are easy, difficulty ramps up steadily, which leaves players with enough time to adjust. Same goes for introduction of new npcs, with a steady trickle of enemies coming your way as you progress through the game, as well as new game mechanics, traps and snares. It is all fairly easy to grasp, but there are hints shown each time a new element is introduced.
This adventure will take the intrepid goblin across a wide variety of environments, ranging from dark underground tunnels to snowy mountains, sandy beaches and forests. Be prepared for a roller coaster of action, thrills and at times challenging gameplay.
The game plays smoothly, without any bugs or glitches that I could notice. It has a retro style and looks, but also modern bells and whistles, i.e. upgrades and achievements for players to pursue and even secret levels to top it all off.
An overall cute and lovable little indie game, a great successor to the first GnC, with author's passion for his project clearly shining through. If you too crave a blast from the past with a modern twist, I can but recommend this labour of love.

Really cute game, with hard puzzles for those who like clever out of the box thinking. Maybe you will notice it, maybe not, but the art is inspired by range of pop culture elements, as well as local regional architecture (at level 1). Thumbsup!

As of now, I've given Goblins and Coins II a quick run on the Steam Deck. I've completed three maps so far. So, plenty of game left to go, but I thought I'd offer a few quick thoughts on the game so far.
1: The game plays perfectly on the Steam Deck, which is my only PC gaming venue ATM, so Deck compatibility is important to me. No issues there at all and I haven't needed to tweak anything. There was one prompt for interacting with an in game object so far (B button), but beyond that, it's been all move and jump, choose a map, or scroll through upgrades. Easy peazy.
2: The game itself has even more charm than the first game and is definitely suitable for gamers of any age.
3: I'm "die terribly because I misjudge jumps" guy when it comes to platformers, but I find the platforming challenges in this game to be pretty intuitive.
4: It's a really nice looking game and the level design is sensible.
5: It's also very much a pick up and play type game. Have 5 or 10 minutes available? You can accomplish something, and you'll never forget how to play it if you take a break for whatever reason.
Anyway, that's my budget review of Goblins and Coins II. I do know the developer, but I purchased Goblins and Coins II myself with the intention of playing it at a casual pace with no obligations, so know in reading this that you are getting a review of the game rather than a fluff piece for the dev.
I'd recommend giving this game a look. It's fun, cute, inexpensive, and Steam Deck compatible.
Cheers.

This is quite an improvement from the original which was charming but had several elements which made it a rather conditional recommendation. While it won't convince anyone who's not already a platformer fan to get into the genre, it is rather well built. While there's a live system that does have you frequently quitting to menu instead of risking a death, it's not a true game over so it's up to you as a player to play as you consider best. Levels are simple enough with occasional key hunts, but they are moderately memorable in layout and design. While the game is linear, there are incentives to replay, especially with some of the unlockable upgrades which add a minor Metroidvania flavour while also making things easier.
My only complaint so far is that when going to full coin runs, the game expects you to find all the coins in the stage at once (instead of remembering which coins you've picked before). This is easy enough in most stages, but on some of the larger ones with plenty of branching paths the search can get exhausting.
Looking forward to the standalone expansion.

Goblin and Coins II is an old-school, 2D pixel art platformer game, with nice, hand-drawn graphics, fluid animations and simple, yet responsive control system. The main character is unarmed, so the trick is to avoid enemies or squish them by jumping on them. The game features 25 levels, filled with various enemies and environmental obstacles, along few boss fights in between. There's also a bit of puzzle elements thrown in for good measure.
It's challenging, but not too hard and you can adjust the difficulty by allowing more continues when you lose all lives. However, the game is not over even if you have spent all your continues: you spawn in the Underworld and if you manage to escape it, you will be ressurected with additonal continues.
Goblin and Coins II is an unique nostalgia trip to the 8-bit era, but it could also be a perfect introduction into the world of video games for your kids.

Really nice old school platformer reminding me of a nicer time and games when I was a wee lad.
Controls are simple and responsive and levels are nicely thought out and designed. There are some pixel perfect jumps to be made without the double jump power up that can be irritating, but you get enough coins pretty quickly. One issue I had was that achievements weren't working until I started a new game for a second time. Went through first ten levels so far and hopefully the challenge will increase from now on as I'm craving that goblins'n'ghoul platforming.

Neat little old school platformer reminding me of games from my childhood. Graphics are cute, controls work really well and it requires some degree of skill which is always nice.
