Barely recommended, but not for everyone. Really smooth action shooter but there is no incentive to go fast other than to get some achievements. No sense of urgency or story or concern about any punishment. So the whole game revolves around slowly discovering and learning a very bland uninspiring and unthreatening level, before mastering it for a second faster run. This results in sub par level design and repetitive gameplay. Slow weapon swap speed is a HUGE mistake. Also weapons need improvement and more character. Also better sound wouldn't hurt. Visuals are, I'm sorry to say, plain ugly. Not "old school" or stylistic. Just ugly. 6/10 but because the gameplay is good and so much love and effort went into it, it ends up feeling like a 7-8/10 at times. Hoping for a better sequel.

Great game, weirdly relaxing to play but highly recommend for any fan of the genre

Great graphics with beautiful ray tracing Classic fps action with a magical/otherworldly and sometimes ancient and/or medieval setting. Fun weapons to use and twisted levels to explore. The different difficulty settings are well balanced. A memorable experience over all. And in faithful old-school fashion, manual saving is allowed at any point!

Out of the NewBlood FPS trilogy, this is my least favorite, but that doesn't mean I dislike it. I absolutely LOVE this game, but there are a few things holding it back in my opinion. Firstly it's the slowest of the three. The movement itself is great, but it's much slower paced compared to Dusk. The combat is more like Heretic and Hexen instead of DOOM, and that makes it very unique with its weapons. While the weapons are wonderful the lack of hitscan (other than the Voltride) makes a few fights take longer than they should. Other than those two small this game is AWESOME. I still love it to death, it just could be a bit quicker.

Very meaty medieval shooter, the base game is pretty cool with some variation per episode with different enemies and environments. The weapons are also cool and diverse, although I did fumble around a bit with the juggling of the soul powers (temporary super strong alt-fire) The DLC is truly amazing with great levels, meaty new weapons and some cool setpieces.

I wish more "boomer" shooters would try this hard with their visuals, especially in the last episode Amid Evil proves that you can have a retro aesthetic and still push the bounds

Very boring weapons, only the magic staff is effective and it is boring to shoot from it, boring confusing maps, many melee weapons in the shooter, shots are only in the form of magic.

First game I ever played on Linux on Steam. Its very fun, music is great, main campaign is great. Black Labyrinth is great so far aswell.

Alright game, play fun. ...With one huge caveat though: your computer must be strong enough to run modern AAA at "high", since this game is also quite demanding on the hardware — don't look at its "boomer shooter" artistic style, it's a proper high-end Unreal Engine 4 title. On its low settings, the game becomes barely playable: even if the combination of low resolution with bad aliasing won't literally make your eyes bleed, then the very next minute you'll discover enemies attacking you from beyond their drawing distance. If you can't run Amid Evil on "high" — I'd rather recommend you put it off until you can. I don't think this game will disappear anytime within the next decade or two; even if somehow it gets delisted from Steam, you should still be able to find it in other places. Once you have a machine beefy enough to run Crysis 2 — then for all means, give this game a try!
