I normally wouldn't review a game I just didn't care for when there wasn't anything really wrong with it, in terms of bugs or other technical issues, and I definitely wouldn't be leaving a positive review but this is a special case. I was warned by the store page that this wasn't exactly high brow sophisticated humour, and that was fine by me. I've loved plenty of dumb things, and the promise of metal music and references got my attention. However I don't think I laughed, chuckled, or even did a nose exhale once in my nearly three and a half hours of playtime.
The only things that even came close to amusing me were some of the references, turning my time with Metal as Phuk into a disappointing slog through slightly too difficult JRPG style gameplay. I know that's a me problem though, and I did get this game cheap on sale, so while I ultimately didn't enjoy it and didn't finish it I do respect it and I think it's worth recommending. I hope the dev has had a lot of success with their work over the years, I think it's deserved.
