Wonderful Everyday, better known for it's original name "Subarashiki Hibi" (from now on "Subahibi"), was born as a remake of "Tsui no Sora" (End Sky), but ended up being its own thing, a sort of alternative version of the original story. You don't need to read Tsui no Sora first, but you will probably feel like jumping to it after finishing Subahibi. It's one of those games that had to be heavily cut and censored to be able to be sold in Steam, but you can easily get the patches, both official and unofficial, to return it to its original glory. There are three patches, one of them optional. The game is also playable on SteamOS, but you will need to do a few tweaks if you want to use the same fonts than in Windows. I think this is one of those stories you better go into knowing as little as possible, but at the same time it's important to know about that "little" part, so you understand what kind of experiences can you find here. You can mostly ignore the Steam synopsis, as it only includes info on the first chapter, which is quite different from what you will experience in the next ones. Subahibi will offer us an opportunity to experience its bizarre but beautiful world from the eyes of various troubled characters as they battle through their days filled with mysteries and curses, and a prophecy of the incoming end of the world. As the story advances, it will become increasingly difficult to differentiate if what we are watching is reality or fantasy, a bad trip or a dream. Many crude situations are extensively depicted: from mental illness to suicide, from bullying to many kinds of raping. Sometimes hard to stomach, many of these situations will be a depiction of the mental health of the characters, and the game won't hide on creating scenes that will leave a bad taste on the players' mouths. For those players who are looking for an easy to digest romantic story, as the first impression of the game may suggest, they won't find it here. Now, if you are up for a story of many grey areas that invites you to think, loaded with supernatural mystery and an extensive range of complex characters (and many others you will want to kill), then, I'm sure you will soon be enraptured with its world and looking for a rooftop where you can quietly read you newly bought copy of Cyrano de Bergerac.

Not even finished half of it yet and this is the greatest visual novel I have ever read in my entire life. (Where am I at? Still deciding if I can call Takuji based or cringe- That's where.)

Wonderful Everyday's presentation - the erudite painterly photos on the store page with just a bit of abstract chic, its reputation as the "philosophy visual novel" are prescient but to me felt deceiving by the end of my time with this 50-60-hour behemoth. Far too much time reading Wonderful Everyday is somewhere between boring, tropey or downright offensive in its portrayal of its subject matter; there is some genuine gold in here that I doubt is replicated anywhere else in any medium but I'm skeptical that it's worth the massive undertaking.

today, the world ended. spoilers ahead this game was an experience, to say the least. i quite literally can't recommend anyone this game, nor would i want to. the h-scenes are disturbing as hell, (which is the point) but they go on for entirely too long. i had to take a break from playing because it got so bad. it takes away from the game. yes, it's supposed to be disturbing, but i kid you not. they go on for like 10-15 minutes. and there's pages of it. but it did a good job at making me thoroughly disgusted. the game about living happily, despite all of the tragedies and evil of humanity..ends by the main two characters rewriting their narrative to finally live happily in their incestuous relationship. the entire philosophy, (that mind you, makes up the entire game and hardly makes sense) means butt fuck nothing when it's just to justify random incest. it just made everything the game was attempting to communicate out to shit because, even in the end, they made their own disturbing situation. i don't necessarily regret playing this game, but i regret getting my hopes up. i really enjoyed yukis interactions with zakuro, kagami and tsukasa. i feel like i prefer their endings over the overarching story, they could even be considered canon going based off ayana's dialogue in end sky II's ending. kimika's ending for looking glass insects was really sweet too, both yuki and kimka made the game for me. i did have a lot of fun trying to figure out what was going on, and it was thrilling to see what was confirmed/disprove. however, in the end, i can't say i enjoyed this game due to the endings and how they carried out some character relationships. yuki and kimika carried the game, and all the yurism (can you tell i like yuri?) all this to say, live happily! [strike] and dont use philosophy to excuse screwing your sister! [/strike]

One of my favorite novels of all time. The yuri at the start is generic and annoying but then it gets real good once it actually starts around chapter 2. Justice for Takuji, he is my perfect everyday. SPOILERS: This game is very effective in portraying how a psychotic episode is like. Very nice.
