Quite an entertainment when you have 15 minutes for a quick round. I decided to try this game mostly because the art style reminds me of XIII, and I wanted a quick FPS experience for a break. Regardless of the negative reviews, the store page photos looked alright to me. The launch cutscenes introduce the special force RICO, then take me to the main menu to choose quick, case, or daily (mission). Turned out this game has no story, it’s just about kicking open a door, clearing the room, and repeating. The fun part is, RICO offers around 5 seconds of bullet time after you kick the door. The best is to take advantage of this and make yourself a qualified Max Payne. However, as you progress, there will be barriers between you and the enemy, or more than one room's enemies to eliminate, or heavily armored enemies with shotguns. I chose Medium difficulty and found the game challenging, but the ammo and health supply is abundant, so it feels fairly balanced and rewarding at the end of the mission. The dull part is, sometimes, you have to complete some near-impossible goals, one being to defuse bombs within a few minutes. Failing to do so will lead to instant game-over, meaning permanent character death and erasing all your progress, returning you to mission 1. I managed to complete the entire case mission in an hour. It ended before I got bored. RICO is currently 94% off for $1.19, a good deal if you're looking for a quick FPS like me.
