Resonance of Fate / End of Eternity is one of my favorite games on PS3/PS4.
I was on the 4th difficulty for the original PS3 version, 6th difficulty for the PS4 HD edition. Each playthrough was 100% completion.
However, I would not recommend this PC port due to its graphic glitches in combat and FPS drops near map edges. Developers from tri-Ace, please come to fix this PC version.
I've played this PC version for hours on 2 machines: [olist]
an 11-year-old gaming laptop (i7-4700HQ, GTX 880M, 32GB RAM, HDD)
a modern gaming desktop (13900K, RTX 4090, 32GB RAM, SSD) [/olist] and have experienced, on both machines, these combat graphic glitches and loading zone stuttering. Therefore, I would assume people with specs in between may encounter similar issues as well. In fact, there are multiple threads where people complained about these issues, and someone mentioned that the graphic glitches may have been first reported back in 2019, yet, it is still not fixed in 2025. The combat graphic glitch is that when you attack during combat, your character's upper body will randomly and quickly teleport away back and forth, leaving the connecting model parts awkwardly stretched and resumed many times per second. FPS drops near map edges is that when you move the character to the entrance / exit of an area, the game will stutter noticeably (e.g. moving the character from the center of the living room towards Leanne / Reanbell's room will cause a stutter). These issues do not impede the game mechanisms but do disturb my enjoyment for this PC port, especially when comparing with its almost flawless performance on PS5. This PC port needs a patch to fix the glitches.
As for the gameplay:

Pros:

It's a unique JRPG with very innovative combat mechanism (like many other tri-Ace games).
Combats can be fun, enjoyable and satisfactory after you learned and mastered the mechanism.
Builds, strategies, quick reactions and LUCK are all crucial for battles.
Weapon customization is a huge game changer.
There are many character customization elements
(Leanne / Reanbell is cute)
.
The bonus dungeon is super challenging and even more rewarding.
The story is like a comedy in this tiny world with power beyond conception.
Excluding the glitches mentioned above, the graphic is okay and comfortable to watch.

Cons:

Glitches mentioned above.
The combat mechanism could be hard to get used to.
The combats are too repetitive, especially the arena ones. ルーチンワークはマジ勘弁!
The difficulty curve is bizarre, I find it as hard (till chapter 4) -> easy (till final bosses) -> hard (bonus dungeon).
The combat mechanism may still need some polishing (e.g. the healing items are almost useless).
Players are not allowed to change weapons or accessories in combat zones.
10 difficulty levels are too many, can squeeze into 4 (NORMAL, PROFESSIONAL, MYTHOLOGY, ZENITH).
[strike]Money farming glitch is removed in HD editions.[/strike]
[strike]The reward for clearing all world hexes is disappointing.[/strike]

Conclusion:
Resonance of Fate / End of Eternity is a fun and unique JRPG, but it may not be for everyone. If you are looking for some challenging and strategic battles, this could be for you. If you are more towards the traditional turn based and levelling dependent JRPGs, research more before your purchase. I would recommend the PS4 version over this PC port.

It's an overlooked classic with a unique battle system. The added resolution options are there (thankfully). Worth a shot!

Wow I played up to 21 hours? I felt like nothing has happened so far. I'm gonna stop there. It was cool for a bit but got a bit nothing really changed in the time I played. I swapped around the weapons but the passive activation of skills doesn't really feel like much.

Banger banger banger. had to uninstall the hd dlc for me bc the character stretching/glitching during hero actions. turning shaders down in settings helped maintain steady fps. NVM the stretching is still occurring so GL figuring that out. Seems to happen after 1/2 an hour in during a session. many rpgs have time wasting barriers, and the hex grid map system can be a nuisance but idk my brain goes crazy when you completely clean up a floor. annoying and convoluted save system? who cares suck a duck, plop a station on an annoying floor to save some time from going through two core lifts. ever played any other game that doesnt have an auto save before or somethign???? Gun building system is fun and silly, leveling is a joke except for weight to carry a gun with 7 sights, 6 silencers and a 15 round drum mag that OH you dual wield two of em. Oh yeah I have a 15x zoom sig sauer scope on my m19 pistol too, fuck you. No 30 min cutscenes, game has short blips of plot points, character development and world building. Other than that, its gameplay.

I rarely write reviews, but I felt this game warranted one. I bought this game when it came out on PS3, but due to my limited competence of English and how brutal this game was, I never got to finish it at the time. Now, more than a decade later, I managed to finish it finally. The game is as difficult as I remember it, with probably the steepest learning curve I have ever seen in a video game. Beyond that, traversing the world can get quite tedious and you can't really out-level everything and stomp through things either. The game also has some absurd difficulty spikes that will frustrate you a lot if you're not the type to prepare before each battle. The battle system also has no progression at all, with the only changes coming through upgrades with gear and terminals that allow you to execute strategies you couldn't do before. The game does however get a lot things right. This game absolutely oozes with vibes from the get go. The characters are immaculate. And while learning how to fight will take a while, managing to execute a plan properly is incredibly satisfying and rewarding. The story is alright too, though it could've been delivered a bit better. Should you play this game? Eh, maybe. If you're not bothered by old school JRPGs with weird quirks, and are up for one of the strangest battle system out therem go for it. This game is far from bad, but it's not something I'd go out and recommend to everyone. This game would likely benefit a lot from the refinement of a sequel, but alas, I doubt we will ever get one This game just deserved better.

Runs greatly on a 2025 Win11 PC. Wonderful game. IMO this is better than any of the main titles in FF. As good as FF type0.

- what?-type storytelling - Vashyron is a douche - everything is brownish - most bizarre map ever award - being hit with machine gun is just a fleshwound - remember to make triangles while moving - levels don't mean much - small red crystals dictate your life and death - if you have to use healing, it's a skill issue - when you finally get it, combat becomes pure addiction - FASHION Excellent JRPG that is as weird as its possible - nowadays most publishers would not invest in such a highly experimental product. Combat is the king here - story is a mix of weird slice of life and religion-related mumbo jumbo. Worth a try f you like slow mo shoot-outs with characters prancing around, where you can completely destroy an enemy in seconds if you do it right, or get completely pounded in seconds by the most basic enemies if you did not figure it out.
