So far an amazing game with lot of things and zero micro transactions for a looter shooter. It has some core game play mechanics borrowed of influenced by Borderlands and Destiny (defeat enemies, loot, grind and repeat), but it has its own charm and identity. Love to keep the devs continuing with support over the years (optimization, maybe Story DLC or Battle Pass optional - for cosmetics not for story or missions) instead of making a sequel.

Great game if you like to grind. It has lots of character. Very different than what it started out as so keep that in mind when seeing old reviews.

I nabbed the game for about £4 after having played a playtest last year and the demo for a bit and enjoying the game a fair bit. I specifically had been waiting a while however because I had been keeping up to date with the game news and opted to wait till things had calmed down before spending money
Should mention I've not played another RH game so this is my first experience.
The game is charming and is pretty fun. There's nothing overly complex about it so it's easy to pick up and play. Overall I quite enjoy the game still and plan to sink quite a few hours into it and hopefully complete as much of it as I can considering how much the game rewards you for doing so, it gives you clear tasks and rewards for a lot of the games mechanics.
I'm hoping it still gets more improvements and additions as seeing more characters, weapons and levels would never be turned down, but for now I'm happy waiting for the devs to work on what they need to and hope they continue to spend time on improving the game.
A few things I'd like to personally see would be a bridge between the weapon ranges as there's a big jump from the tier 2 weapons at level 7 and tier 3 weapons at level 17, then tier 4(I think it goes up to tier 4?) at level 30, having something between would be nice but not necessary at all. Features like inventory sorting for the equipment would be nice as the UI feels a bit busy at times and isn't the nicest to navigate imo. A "Claim all" button for things like missions and feats would be nice too. A display to indicate the weapons firing mode (i.e Burst, Semi, Full-Auto) on the weapon card would be nice too (I'm pretty sure this isn't displayed anywhere?). Lastly, most of the characters are fun to play but I feel like if I had to comment on anything, Pinkyy feels a bit lackluster and strange as of right now as she lacks a lot of feedback and her kit doesn't feel very strong outside of how tanky she can be - but I'm only around level 10 with her so that could be why.
All in all - I enjoy the artstyle and music in particular, there's good vibes. The weapons and combat feel pretty fluid and there's good feedback for the most part but there's a bit to be desired. Progression isn't bad but levelling can certainly feel a bit slow and getting specific equipment with stats you want early on isn't super feasible, but scaling and difficulty doesn't feel bad. The story is a bit eh and feels a bit weak but personally I'm ok with that - there's plenty of other games I can play if I want a more engaging story.

For a game in the price range of Relic Hunters, it punches well above it's weight.
Don't be fooled by the cartoony appearance or simple looking gameplay, it's a very competent ARPG.
I wasn't expecting fully handcrafted levels full of secrets to collect.
Or character building on the level of Borderlands, with multiple ways to combine all 3 of the talent trees.
Or the sheer amount of Legendary items and Relics there are, even in only the 1st few hours of the game.
The multiplayer works perfectly and you can play your characters both online and offline, which is very nice. Especially for Steamdeck owners.
So far the only downside I have is that the UI makes my eyes bleed. If you have a HDR monitor or an OLED do not play this game in full screen, you will get blinded every time you open the inventory.
If you're after a looter shooter to kill time between now and Borderlands 4 or playing POE2 made you wish you were just playing a twin stick shooter instead, this is going to be the best $20 you've spent in a while.
That or if you have fond memories of Spiral Knights before it got turned into a dumpster fire.

Honestly I was gonna hold off until it was out of early access in a week to hop in. However it started looking better and better the longer I waited lol so I hopped right in. So far the game is great and scratches that incredibly specific looter shooter itch I've been craving since the announcement of BL4. It mildly sucks you can't play the story mode in coop but thats fine.

This is a very quick review based on my very brief game time.
Very fun game, been looking forward for its release and just managed to catch it in the 1.0 release.
Reminds me a lot of spiral knights but offline which is awesome!
I love the art-style and palette, especially the gun designs.
I wish the team all the best in their future projects.
Pontos extras por ser um jogo do Brasil!

This game is amazing!
It remembers Destiny 2 a little bit in the sense that it is a looter shooter. You have an infinity of different weapons and equipments to farm and to combine, with RNG stats, to try to get the perfect build. You enter instances dungeons, solo, with friends or with random online players, and complete it for drops and quests.
But this is not just copy of a stablished game. This is a top-down, assymetric, twin-stick shooter with a nice and challenging gameplay. Many different heroes, each one with their unique spells and skill tree. And the story, the art of this game is really unique and fun.
Great game, I'm in love with it and can't stop playing!

Based on about eight hours with the demo (mostly played with my partner), the cutesy kiddie-punk stylings here kind of obscure a decently meaty mix of top-down shooter and looter-ARPG in a game space that really hasn't quite matured yet. Its competitors pretty much all have some major failings, so if the failing here is style and a bit of jank (precision aiming needs to not be so camera spazzy), well, that's a heck of a lot better than poor action, a dead loot/upgrade system, or lame missions. I can put up with style. Seems to have quite a bit to offer, though it takes a while to unlock things (at least you can generally get a newly unlocked character right out of the bottom tier gear).
Has a pretty generous demo, aside from putting up with its fairly painful story bits and voicing that's like enthusiastic knives in the ears (sadly lacks a separate volume for voices).
The early access went through a lot, from the initial free-to-play online-only stand to the loss of their publisher and the current buy-to-play (no microtransactions), fully offline capable (and no servers required for co-op) version. Pay attention to the current state of the game when reading old information, because there's a lot of old information.

Playing the demo a couple years back and watching this game develop from the sidelines, Rogue Snail ditching their old publisher (Gearbox Publishing) and scrapping their previous Free-to-Play/Live-Service model for a Community-First approach via embracing a Buy-To-Play model was the BEST DECISION this studio could have made for the health of the game- an exceptionally rare epiphany to be had by a Studio, in this day and age of gaming which is WHY they deserve your support!
Additional Reasons as-to Why Relic Hunters Legend is worth the asking price:
1. No Predatory Monetization
- Buy-To-Play Model: No microtransactions, battle passes, or pay-to-win mechanics.
- Cosmetics earned through gameplay: Fashion Credits are dropped by enemies and rewarded for missions—no real money needed.
- This respects your time and wallet by offering a complete experience upfront.
2. Deep Customization & Replayability
- Choose from 6 Hunters: each with unique abilities/playstyle and three separate skill trees to tailor your build, per Hunter.
- Meaningful Gear Rolls: Getting "Add an additional projectile while shooting" and "Weapon Burst Size + 1" on a weapon (which enables burst fire) can turn your semi-auto pistol into a full-blown shotgun which feels wickedly gratifying!
-Designed for loot-goblins and content-goblins: the game has a hefty amount of grind when it comes to re-rolling or upgrading your gear which'll keep you busy for a long while. I'm nearly 200 hours in (some of which is AFK (30-40 hrs)), and I'm ONLY roughly 66% of the way through the game, with 1 of the 3 End-game systems still untouched! (partially by choice).
- Multiple End-game Systems to bounce yourself between:
a set of rotating "Special Missions" from the campaign with juicy rewards and enhanced difficulty that refresh several times an hour, Path of Exile-styled "Maps" via "Treasure Maps," and a Special Dungeon, with a unique twist!, that refreshes its rewards and bosses every 3 days.
- In-game Loot-Filter: that you can tweak on the fly, tailored to your looting preferences
3. Offline & Online Flexibility
- Play offline solo or online co-op, the choice is yours. (no LAN support that I'm aware of though).
4. Vibrant/Engaging World & Family-Friendly
- Hand-crafted world that's beautiful to explore.
- The story follows a quirky cast of characters traveling the galaxy to uncover ancient relics, often with a light-hearted tone set for younger audiences that can still be easily enjoyed by adults.
- No gore, sexual themes, or cursing is present in-game.
Relic Hunter Legends is truly a hidden gem of a game that more then DESERVES a second chance and a skeptical/critical-thinking mind-set when looking at its "mixed" review status as Relic Hunter Legends is no longer the same game, completely changing monetization models in the process, that it was a few years back, plus the myriad of changes over those two years. Despite the time I've already sunk into the game, I have no intention of slowing down as there's still a lot of wood left for the fire to burn, best $15 twin-stick looter-shooter I've ever purchased.
Edit: Apparently, I cannot count above 5, because there are 6 total Relic Hunters!!!
Edit 2: Grammar and such
