One of the best roguelike games out there, more so definitely worth whatever you may pay for it.

It's funny, I've seen giant magma worms rise from the planets crust, trying to consume my very well own being. Hellish creatures that would make one completely take a big dookie on themselve and run off screaming and a giant teapot yet, I haven't run into any rain

I feel that this game is one of my 10 best games ever, not only for simple-yet so variative gameplay, but for the deepness and style and of course - soundtrack. Amazing composition of all game elements. Enjoy every run.

One of the best roguelikes to exist. All of the characters have fun abilities and I appreciate that the developers continue to update the game after 4.5 years.

If I could have one of the reviews I've written be seen it'd be this one. At first I bought this game for some quick coop fun with my friend but what I found has really gone way above and beyond my expectations, from the game mechanics (bandit <3) to the enemy attack patterns and designs, the maps and oh god don't get me started on the music. This game is really one of the best I have ever played matching the likes of Ultrakill and Deep Rock Galactic, if there's anyone on the fence on buying this game, I could not advise you any further but to PLAY RISK OF RAIN 2

OK, this is on my top 5 list of games. It’s fun, has a level of difficulty that seems impossible at the beginning, but after playing for a few hours, it gets easier. The game has close to no meta-progression, making it very skill-based. Even the first survivor you unlock can easily beat Eclipse 8 after you get used to the game. All the survivors are equal in ability (except the Seekers of the Storm ones), and each survivor offers a nice new playstyle, so there is something for everyone. The item system is awesome. At the beginning of a run, you start with nothing and can die easily, but after getting items, you can feel much stronger. With the ability to scrap your items to print out different ones, the build combinations are endless. You can become a tank that can out-heal almost any enemy in the game, or you could become a glass cannon, dealing insane damage but dying in a single hit. The pacing of the game is near perfect, with the difficulty ramping up the longer you play in a single run. This forces you to make strategic decisions, like whether to go for more items and face stronger enemies or proceed to the next stage with fewer items to keep the enemies weaker. The fact that this game has multiplayer makes it even better. While playing alone can be fun, playing with a friend is always better. The ability to coordinate with friends to synergize is amazing. One of my favorite combinations is an Engineer using Bustling Fungus (a healing item that can heal tons when you stand still) and a glass cannon of any survivor type (my favorite being Railgunner, a DLC character). The Engineer allows the Railgunner to regenerate all damage instantly, while the Railgunner one-hits everything. While this might make it seem easier, the difficulty in multiplayer increases much faster, balancing things out. The game has a charming, low-poly art style that works perfectly with the fast-paced gameplay. The stages are beautifully designed, ranging from an arctic military base to floating islands, making the game diverse in its environments. After many hours in the game, they can get slightly repetitive, but overall, they are beautiful and built perfectly, neither too big nor too small, except for one random Stage 1 that is just way too big. Even though it is a near-perfect game, it is not without flaws. While the lack of meta-progression can feel rewarding and nice for people who enjoy skill-based gameplay, those who prefer persistent upgrades might find the lack of post-run rewards unsatisfying. After 40-50 minutes of gameplay, having to restart can feel frustrating, but that’s kind of what you sign up for when you buy a game in the roguelike genre. For those who are willing to put in the work and learn the mechanics of the game, it can be one of the most fun experiences out there. The amount of dopamine you get from looping (restarting back at Stage 1 with all your items and difficulty at the same level) and becoming so overpowered that you destroy everything in your path is amazing. And when you finally get so far in the game that you crash it (the true ending), it’s an incredible feeling. That moment is indescribable. It feels amazing. Overall, amazing, 10/10, please buy it. Don’t bother reading more reviews or questioning whether it’s worth it or not. This is one of the only games I would truly suggest buying, even if it’s not on sale. What are you reading this for? Go buy it!

After 800 hours and completing all achievements for this game, I feel like it's time to write this. You will hate this game, and then come to love it, and then hate it again, and then go back to loving it. You will go through every single emotion, every stage of grief, the highest of highs and lowest of lows playing this game, struggling at this game, and trying to improve at this game until it etches itself into you like the microplastics in your blood stream. And once it gets it grip on you, it won't let go. You're gonna keep coming back to this game. It won't matter why. Maybe you meshed well with similar games that allow for different play styles. Maybe you're too stubborn to let the game knock you down after losing, maybe it's because games have gotten too stale and that this is your last reliable source of pure, no nonsense gameplay. Even when you think you're done, you're not. Maybe there's a new update and you wanna take a gamble at how broken it is. Maybe one of your friends suggest you two play a run together like two crabs in a giant bucket. Maybe a mod releases that just let's you PLAY AS A TANK. I keep coming back to this game, more so than any other game I've played in my entire existence. Very rarely can a game like this feel as fresh on run 1 as it would on run 1000. I'm writing this after completing a monsoon Artificer run when most of my runs have been on rainstorm. That run in particular felt like one of the hardest challenges I've ever had to do, and vastly different from any of my autopilot huntress runs. I hate this game, and I love this game. I hate how this game has consumed me since I first game it an honest attempt at 4 years ago, yet I love how games like this can just exist. It's a game that will ruin slower paced games for you. It's a game with the potential of forming the strongest of bonds with other people. It's a game that will teach you how to get good at games. It's a game with a soundtrack made by someone who thinks he's the shit and has the evidence to back that up. It's a game that goes on sale for $8 that I put 800 hours in without even touching eclipse and having barely dipped my toes into modding. It's a game. Not a sad imitation of a movie Not a glorified storefront or slot machine (although gambling is still present) It's just pure, unrestricted fun
