So I heard you like Slender Man huh? The Inevitability can definitely be classified as a Slender Man clone. So many elements from that successful horror series can be found in the this game. From the note fetch quests, to the way the main evil "entity" is designed, and how he follows/interacts with you when he closes in, basically feels ripped straight from the other Slender games. However, this game does add it's own flair into the mix during breaks between plot/ location changes. Reminded me a bit of a mix between PT and A Girl's Fabric Face. Sound is such a huge part of any succesfful horror venture, and I will say this this. The sound in this game is very well done. Between ominous background groans, shrieks, static noises from hell. Your characters own footsteps echoing off of the grimy, glass shattered tile floor-- It all comes together in a very impressive way. Even the moments of music I found to be well selected and enjoyable. Is it actually scary though? I guess that depends on your definition of scary. From what I've seen, it relies on omnious atmosphere, the fear of being chased, and of course jump scares. The jump scares I've encounctered so far were decently done. A few actually did make me literally jump. The story is pretty forgettible and nonsensical so far unfortunately. Your family is dead. You show up in a seemingly abandoned subway station, and Mr. 'Not Slender Man' is there to great you, and chase your sorry ass all across the world...just because. I'll edit the review if more explination is given towards the end of the game, but as of now it's pretty much just whatever. There are very long loading times, and they can and will break the game. I probably had the game kick me out during the load screen 5 times during a 45 mintue play through. That for sure needs to be addressed. All in all, considering the price, I'd give The Inevitability a 6.5 out of 10. (Without the load crashes, I'd bump it up to a 7-7.5) If you love the Slender Man series, or that genre of horror games in general, than you are pretty much set to enjoy this game. If that isn't your cup of tea, then I'd avoid this. There won't be much here to hold you interest. I will include a video I made of a playthrough of the first 3 'areas', if you are curious as to what the game actually looks, sounds, and feels like. I included the loading shenanigans as well, because sometimes it was pretty funny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmkqOp2_kw0&t=1416s

Horrible game for now. Relies on cheap scare tactics, full of crashes. Made for a really funny gameplay video tho https://youtu.be/X-WM0PPFf98

The horror part of this game is the thought that you have spent money on it. If I want to hear people talking in Russian, I can play Dota 2.

Awful, simple as that. Just an awful slender copy in the sewers. Broke constantly for me and wasn't scary in the slightest.

It's a good first attempt to a horror game. I wish it would be something more original than a slender man clone, but if you are looking for that this is a competent choice. It has some worldbuilding with cinematic, and the introductory sequences remind me of the RE7 one (because of the pseudo rock -emo music) Also the game crashed. But for the price I think is not that bad.

I bought this for like 70 cents on the Halloween sale, I knew its gonna be bad, but somehow ended up being the funniest game out of the bunch I streamed, despite it crashing and being unplayable. There is a mens bathroom, and a womens bathroom, but this one also has the handicapped symbol on the door. Does that mean women are disabled? I couldnt stop cracking up over this. Whether intentional or not, made my day. But hilarious or not, it crashes on loading screens, thus being unplayable.
Warning: GameGuru Asset Flip!
The Inevitability is a what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" bought the GameGuru first person shooter construction kit (no coding required, it's just a GUI!) and cobbled out a map or two using stock GameGuru assets... nothing in this game can fully be called the creation of the developer, and yet they also failed to credit GameGuru or acknowlegde any of the GameGuru assets. They're trying (badly) to pass someone else's work as their own. In this case some effort (but not that much) went into trying to make a ripoff of the Slender Man game, basically a first person survival horror with a creepy man chasing you around and giving you jumpscares... it's really hard to suggest that's any better than the usual stock arena wave survival shooters people usually churn out with GameGuru/FPSC. Let's be clear, GameGuru is a completely godawful construction kit. If you try to take it seriously as a game, you'll find no resolution or graphics tweaks, no controller tweaks... it's horribly optimised and will be sluggish even on high end rigs. You can make the argument that GameGuru exists to just make demos and little experimental games to pass around with friends, but that's not what's happened here... the developer is seriously trying to scam people into paying money for this construction kit copy+paste asset flip. That's not okay! From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects are typical for GameGuru, and as usual push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. So, should you buy this GameGuru asset flip? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? The Inevitability has the almost scam-like price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.

I cannot recommend this game at ALL - after 45 minutes I had to stop playing, from the frequent crashes at load screens, completely 'out of left field' jumpscares and the story - I can't tell you what the story actually is - from one load screen to another (which are LONG, mind you) it seems like a different game of sorts, very disjointed. The subtitles in English are choppy and broken - distracting. And Slenderman (YES this is SLENDERMAN, don't let anyone tell you otherwise) can pretty much snag you at any moment without warning or a sliver of a chance to look away or run. When I finally got 7/8 notes and turned around, took 2 steps and he popped without any warning in my face and cause immediate death I was done - I tried about a dozen times to get those notes. It's one thing for a game to be difficult, or set an eerie tone so you feel compelled to sneak around and carefully search for the notes. It's another to not see him or any hint of him and then when you are almost done he pops in front of you and says NOPE. Yes it's $2.54 but this is Gamejolt or Itch.io fodder, and that is even giving it a compliment. I do hate to crap on a game, but this definitely does not deserve to be on Steam. If you want to see my craptastic time playing it here you go! https://youtu.be/7jpfRz-rnxE

The Inevitability: A Thought-Provoking Yet Flawed Experience The Inevitability is a narrative-driven game that explores themes of fate, choice, and the nature of existence. The game offers a unique, thought-provoking experience that attempts to delve into philosophical questions through interactive storytelling. It presents players with complex moral dilemmas and challenging decisions that impact the progression of the narrative, making for an emotionally engaging, albeit somewhat heavy experience. The game excels in its atmosphere, with haunting visuals and an immersive soundtrack that perfectly complement its somber themes. The writing is deep and introspective, pushing players to consider the consequences of their actions while presenting a narrative that challenges their perspectives. The voice acting is solid, bringing the characters to life and adding weight to the emotional moments of the story. However, The Inevitability has its fair share of flaws. The pacing can often feel slow, as the game leans heavily into long conversations and philosophical debates that may alienate some players. While the narrative is interesting, it can become bogged down by its own complexity, and the lack of interactive gameplay elements can leave the experience feeling more like a visual novel than a fully engaging game. Additionally, the lack of variety in environments and the limited player agency can make the experience feel somewhat linear and repetitive. Ultimately, The Inevitability offers an intriguing exploration of existential themes, but its reliance on long dialogue sequences and minimal gameplay may limit its appeal to players seeking a more dynamic experience. While it’s worth a try for those interested in deep, narrative-heavy games, it may not satisfy those looking for more action or variety in gameplay. Score: 73/100
