[i]Man,[/i] I wish there was a "meh" option for reviewing games sometimes, because this definitely falls into that category. - Story was all right-ish, judging on the standards of RPG Maker games (and I have played some BAD RPG Maker games), the plot twist was probably pretty predictable if you were paying attention . . . which I was not - They use a familiar-looking RPG Maker VX Ace tileset, which don't necessarily look bad but communicates a certain lack of effort? - Random encounter rate was awfully high, at least in dungeons, and it put me off exploring, which is not something that I often say - Game is so-so challenging at the beginning, but the difficulty falls off a cliff when you unlock your elemental sword moves - The translation . . . speaks for itself Overall they [i]probably[/i] shouldn't be charging money for this DLC, as it feels an awful lot like something that was cobbled together over a long weekend, but if you're a collector of RPG Maker stuff and it's on sale I guess go for it?

Completing this prequel takes about an hour and a half. The English translation is quite wonky, but very much still understandable. At the beginning you have to grind a bit of EXP and money in the overworld encounters to get to a decent level where the enemies don't walk all over you. Anyway it's nothing special, though it is a fun timewaster for when you just want to play some RPGmaker game.

The hour-long prelude to Witch of Ice Kingdom II. A bit hard and/or grindy at the very start, but once you get a few thousand gold and buy good equipment, the rest of the game is both short and mostly pointless. I suppose it sets up the state of the world as of the start of the sequel, but little enough happens that it pretty much could be described in a short blurb. Skip this one, IMO, even if you own Witch of Ice Kingdom II. (As a note, I had trouble getting this game or the sequel to work until I changed the game's download directory to not have Ⅱ in it and ran it manually. Achievements and playtime still applied properly, so do that if your game is crashing on load.)

This is the prequel to Witch of Ice Kingdom II. A short game that is a bit fun, and lays the groundwork for what is to come. As to why I am writing something for this first... Should one not go in order? Anyway, if you already are buying the main game, why not see where the tale started?
