Some problems regarding controls and key delays have fixed by 2nd patch today. Tnx! Of course I don't think this game is perfect, so hope you update additional patches for the game in the future.

as much as I wanna love this game it is impossible. The control is 'super' sluggish it would be hell of a let down on 'supposed to be fun' part The betray within the scene, limit where I go though I could clearly see the path is bad. As a game developer myself I understand that you need to have boundary, but it is also design choice to have it better. It would be other thing that I could progress pass the tutorial scene without a problem, but even at that stopped me from progress any further. I know I could skip the tutorial and go further myself but I would have to stop it because I don't want to feel anymore worse than it is. It would be other thing if the fundamental part completed, I would play more and find something else to complain about. But yeah, it's like you didn't test enough of your prototype before actually developed the game. I would be happy to buy your game again if you somehow update the fixes on many part in the future. But as far as I know, I cannot trust totally strangers on the internet like this. So I refunded.

Here's my thoughts on the game after playing it for about an hour. GRAPHICS: I liked the graphics, very colorful and anime-like but it kinda reminds me of the graphics you'd see in old PS2 or MMO games from early 2000 era, maybe something like FLYFF, or the PS2's Secret Of Mana game it had. I found that some of the graphics were not HD and looked quite blurry on times. The skill effects all look nice and flashy, to the ones I tested, couldn't tell you what the alter skills will look like. NOTE: I have since seen that the game is using ripped art and assets from IRIS Online.. shame on you devs, I hope you have the rights to the art and assets. MUSIC/SOUND EFFECTS: The music seemed very pleasant , something I feel you would probably enjoy for an hour or two and then will probably end up listening to your own music. The sound effects are nice and didn't annoy me, some games repeat sounds that get so annoying but this one didn't. SYSTEMS: The game seems to have quite a few systems in it, a ton of menus that actually confused me at first. There's things like a crafting system, soul system (whatever that is), a Time Trial system, a rewards system for collecting coins, Gear Upgrading system, and probably more the further you go into the game. CONTROLS: A little confusing at first but the game lets you know what does what within the games tutorial though I feel the game's later tutorial for controls in the forest are better than the first lot of tutorial. The jump needs a LOT of work, it ruins the game at the moment, its too floaty and unresponsive at times, well.. its just awful. The skipping when you are moving about is cute but that will probably be a turn off for some people also. The key's on a controller all seem set out okay and mostly responsive and do what they are supposed to when pressed, other than the jump button. THE BAD: -So, here's where I say what is bad.. THE JUMPING! my god, floaty as hell that's really not responsive enough for an action game, even the double and triple jumping is such a pain to pull off.. as you can see in my video me attempting to jump onto things EPIC FAIL! -The game don't do a good job at explaining you don't leave the town via gates, you just enter a menu by pressing RB and enter areas from a menu system. -The shops stuff seem VERY expensive. -The game feels like it should be an action-mmo NOT just a single player game, this might turn people off, it's quite odd.. I can't really explain it. OVERALL: IF the devs take the time to redo the jumping on this game then it would probably be more playable but as it is at the moment the jumping lets this game down big time. Bellatia to me seems like it's not sure what genre of game it wants to be, it's plugged as an Action-Rpg but it feels more like an mmo, add real players and a cash shop into the game and well.. that's all it needs to be one. Would I recommend this game in this state to anyone? hmm..? maybe but I certainly would tell then much work needs to be done to the jump system cos it really sucks as it is now.

Honestly, barely played and it just angered me with how bad it was. I mean, where did this game even come from? I legit saw it 2 days ago appear on "Popular Upcoming". This wasn't popular Steam, you lied. This game was trash and you should feel bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3hwiYc-fdU This is me playing it at like 3am when it launched. Waste of my time and money.

Worst game I have ever played to date. DO NOT BUY. I felt compelled to ignore the reviews and give it a try. I bought it along with some other games, forgot about it for months, then when I finally decide to install and play it - INSTANT REGRET. The combat is clunky, the camera is abysmal, the story for the character is non-existant at the start. It's obviously more optimized for controller users than mouse/keyboard. You can fight something facing right at them and the camera warps up from the floor. There are floating chests and pots in the town, it's that bad. Save your $20 for something more worthwhile.

The things you need to do keep you busy, between crafting/improving items, collection coins in the hub city, battling with different modes, along with a mode which only 3 of your allies fight as in a simplified Final Fantasy (I find this battle mode original in such a game). You can send your allies on quests to retrieve some gold and ally stones. These quests take real-time to complete (20 minutes), though no actions are to be the made with them then, just go to check after the 20 real-time minutes the success or the failure of retrieving the ally stones. Meanwhile you can grind of the different modes, or advance the story, and craft more. Crafting is about levelling items by "feeding" them with other items, upgrading their grade (which adds a random bonus at each upgrade) by using evolution stones, and (for weapons) inserting runes. There is a merchant who sells evolution stones, etc. but the game seems like not updated by the devs, as, for instance, you can only buy tier 3 weapons (not armors nor rings nor amulets). Otherwise you can buy weapons, armors with blue stones. The items that show up are randomly drawn, with a random tier (between 1 and 3). You can fusion items, you need 6 of the same tier, then you will get one of the next tier with a random visual (for a weapon, it will have a random special attack). The ally stones are used to bind them to a weapon. It allows to use two special abilities through the maps in story mode. It's not that allies follow you in the map exploration, but when used, they appear and make an attack,or heal you, or apply a buff to you or debuff to enemi(es). Thing which is nice is that different weapons have a different special attack which triggers after some continuous standard attacks. You have a Rush option in attacking, which makes the time very slow while you dish out your attacks, and a Berserk mode. Both can be triggered at the same time, which is very good against bosses. As drawback, you have only one (main) character to play, but there are many armors which have different visuals. Sometimes the game is lagging in the hub city, I wonder why, but this is no more, like, one day after and goes smoothly again. I find this game original and entertaining, I give it a thumbs up!

--- QUICK UPDATE --- They fixed most of the movement pain in 1.0.2 so the game is finally playable. It still feels a bit clunky. I don't think this game will ever have something like a playerbase. Seems like it was dead from the start :( --- SUMMARY --- Bellatia seems to be a solid grindfest: neat anime graphics, weapons with different elemental dmg, visualized loot (weapons + armor), redoing bosses over and over again, time trials, archievements, crafting, collecting different characters and some 3D-jump-n-run-stuff. But it has a major problem, its movement. Everything in this game which could be fun - is not. It's a pain to move around, jump, dodge, counter enemy attacks. It feels clunky and is a consequence of bad design choices, too. Besides there are some other flaws, like problems with the inventory in savegames, reused graphic assets and privacy matters. If you are interested in the game, I would wait and see, how much the updates fix the problems. The devs responded to the critics and released a patch - this gives me hope. If you give Bellatia a try, here's a hint: you should ignore the completely useless tutorial, do not instant rage-quit. Run through that tutorial level, then forget about it and start with the game. --- IN DETAIL: WHY NEGATIVE? --- I would not say this game is trash, like others did. In fact, I would really love Bellatia to be good. It reminds me of one of these random free2play cashgrab-MMOs: these having premium currency and pay2win, but also neat graphics and solid gameplay. Since Bellatian seems to have no ingame store or something, this could be fun - in theory. TUTORIAL: The tutorial is a joke. It will make you hate the game for wasting your time. Just skip it. Well, you can't skip it. The upside is, it's not very long. GRAPHICS/STORY: The anime style is cute af, even though the graphics are a bit dated. Story - yes, there is one, and it started not that bad. I didn't play long enough to give a review on that, but well, it's a grinder, who actually cares. Story sequences are told with drawings and text, no synchro, which is ok for me. The game is using graphic assets of an MMO called "IRIS Online", so be careful if you get annoyed by reused assets and played this "IRIS Online" game. MOVEMENT: Movement feels very very clunky, which totally ruins everything. It is broken to the core, means bad design. So for example jumping does not immediately react on your key presses, it does not trigger until you _release_ the button. This is not a thing of getting familiar with, it's plain annoying, furthermore it is not consistent for all movement. Bellatia has some jump'n'run action, collecting coins with jump, double-jump and stuff. Imagine this with clunky controls - it's a pain. BUGS: I also noticed a bug, items were missing after reloading savegame. Another reviewer stated that items are missing after restart, too. Since this happened right with my first tryouts, I doubt that this game is polished to a point where it should be released. At least this needs work, since losing inventory stuff is a no-go. UPDATE: well, there's a patch now addressing the lost-items bugs. I didn't test it, but it's a good sign that the devs are caring. PRIVACY: Bellatia is single player offline, but immediately triggers windows firewall on start. They seem to grab user analytics without informing their users, which is quite common, but I thought you should know about the behavior.
