This game is not what I expected. I'm not sure what I expected but it wasn't this (it's not a bad thing). I'd say Beckett is rather experimental, but I don't find it pretentious. It's nevertheless really disturbing, especially with all the noises... I admit I had to mute the game because damn, the sound made me feel so uncomfortable. The game design reminded me of board games, where you move a pawn on a board. There are some really good ideas related to this, like having each character represented by a pawn that is shaped like something essential to the character's identity from Beckett's point of view (as an example, a buyer is represented by a coin). I can't really comment on the graphics. It's quite peculiar, with vague shapes and X-ray-like images, and sometimes bits of 50s-style videos. A lot of things were only hinted at and not shown directly, which was enough to make me feel uneasy. The story is rather dark and the ending left me with more questions than answers. If you like visual novels set in a horrific future, you might want to give it a try. The gameplay is mouse-only and requires a lot of reading (thanks, Captain Obvious!). 🔷TAGS🔷 Graphic novel. Point and click. Thriller. Dystopian horror. ⏱️DURATION⏱️ 3 hours.
