I wanted to love this game as I used to back in the day but with my 32gig of ram, rxt4080, 5700xt it was a blurry mess or latency was insane - I cannot recommend this version of this old classic

First I thought the above clip was just an exaggeration, and it would never be possible to play the game at that speed. But it is. Granted, given the age of Second Encounter you do have to expect blocky level geometry. But in general the graphic style has aged pretty well (this seems to use the brushed up textures of the HD version), and the advantage is that even on an RTX 3070 (which has a hard time running HL2-VR with high res texture pack) it's smooth as hell. So even when turning off the "comfort movement" and running/strafing at Sam's ridiculous speed all the time while throwing myself into battle head-on, I didn't experience any motion sickness whatsoever.
There's two things that I hope get fixed at some point: the signature-lensflare of the sun is totally over the top in VR. Not only does it look bad and break immersion, it actually makes it tricky in some levels to spot enemies. The second thing is the HUD, which does not seem to correctly track my head movement, and thus frequently ends up cluttering my view. Either let the user adjust the placement and make sure it tracks properly, or give me the possibility to turn it off alltogether. Apart from that it's been a jaw-dropping experience that left me totally overwhelmed. I wouldn't have hoped it was that good. This is an incredibly fun way to experience the old Serious Sam games, which I absolutely recommend for veterans and new players alike!
