Way too tedious. The endless waves of whatever the enemies are called are so boring to deal with. It's also not turn-based. Clearly the developers don't know what turn-based means. In turn-based games, one side acts then the other side acts, they don't input their intentions and have them all executed at the same time. This is RTS but even worse because it frequently pauses the game against your will.

Waited for the sale and I am pleasantly surprised at how amazing this game is! I foresee many hours being dumped in this game.

Only at 8 hours but damn I love this game. I guess its similar to XCOM in a way. Its turn based tactics, but completely new feeling. Unlike anything I've played before.

I'm not an expert in this type of turn based strategy, I bought it mainly because I recently watched the BSG reimagined series and really enjoyed it. So take this review as someone who is a recent fan of the franchise, but who can't compare it to similar games of the genre. The game is a turn-based strategy where you plan out your moves for the turn ahead as does the opponent, execute it and watch the results unfold. It makes for a series of tense cinematic moments at the close of the turn as you plan is executed for better or worse. At the end of each battle you have the option to review footage in the shakey-cam style pioneered by the TV series - its a nice touch and fun to watch through your victories in a cinematic and uninterrupted video. This can be exported and saved or uploaded to sites like youtube. Positives: - Story Assuming you have all the DLC, theres a lot of story missions to complete, and it follows the Cylon uprising in the 12 colonies from the TV show lore. This allows the game to tell a familiar story without treading on the toes of the TV series, and I believe its actually considered canon to the BSG timeline. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy this. - Gameplay. The gameplay is great provided turn-based strategy is for you. There's a decent amount of strategy involved, and understanding the ships in your fleet, how they perform and what their range, speed and weapon arcs are will mean the difference between victory and a crushing defeat. There have been times where I've had a total wipe on a story mission, then retried with the same fleet and won with no losses, so its not just "the biggest ships win" - tactics matter. Difficulty - As I said I'm fresh to the genre so I started on the easiest difficulty. After a gentle warm-up I found there were some challenging battles even at this level, but rarely did I completely lose the fleet. At the easiest difficulty resources are plentiful so you can build whatever you want and recover from almost any mistake. By the end of the main story playthrough on this difficulty I decided to start from scratch on a much harder difficulty - and this was brutally difficult for me. I found I was having to carefully manage resources, run from battles that were overwhelming, or face losses that would take a long time to recover from. It added a whole new flavour to the game and it was better for the challenge, provided you can stomach some frustration. Negatives: No game is without flaws. Ive found the game prone to occasional crashes, especially when reviewing a battle thats just been completed. To be fair when it crashes at this point its not the end of the world as it's just saved, but its nonetheless an issue. There are a number of optional missions and objectives - timed missions and random fleets that pop up for extra resource rewards between main missions. these get a little samey - typically: blow up the enemy, blow up the enemy and a refinery, blow up the enemy and a bunch of satellites. A bit more variety would be nice, but again, its all enjoyable enough. Things I'd change: Not really a complaint so mucha s an observation but this is space - theres no up or down and all ships in the franchise have artificial gravity by some means never explained. As a result I often find myself wondering why everything has to be so linear and structured. The TV show was actually quite good for this, but int he game you can't (for example) roll your ship over and fly upside down (relative to the camera) to present your heavy guns on the top of your ship to enemies underneath you.

I bought this game a long time ago during a sale, the tutorials are a slog and somehow still not very good at teaching you how the game works. Once you get it the game becomes relatively easy and repetitive. I haven't completed the game and it's been overall a positive experience, but I often find myself saving and quitting before a space battle because of how slow they go and how unpredictable the difficulty of the battle can be.

Great game! Even if you're not into Battlestar Galactica, the tactical space combat is very exceptional

I hate that there is no modding allowed for the game and its been made pretty much impossible to mod it yourself but otherwise its a top quality game.

Absolute fantastic game, gameplay is fun, gives you the proper BSG vibes with the sound, the lore is there and it's all in all just a very well made solid TBS game, and scratches that BSG itch! But the multiplayer servers are absolutely garbage and seem to only let about 10 people on at a time, and there's no official support outside of their Discord server it seems which is unfortunate. All well and good giving a game away but the servers can't handle it!

Great graphics and fun gameplay. Strategy is required - but many of the fights are so similar that once you do develop tactics and strategy for a particular problem you will get tired of implementing it over and over again.
