Iron Sea - The West Coast is a standalone DLC that contains 20 levels set in a desert biome. Similar to the base game, only 10 of these levels are unique as you play on each of the maps twice. It also introduces a new enemy that cloaks itself, as well as nearby units, but which can be revealed by a specific type of support tower or damaged by area-of-effect towers or abilities. Other than this new enemy (which is barely used throughout the 20 levels), 10 new map layouts, and a new biome to look at, the DLC adds nothing significant to the base game.
Looking at other reviews and some discussion forum posts, many people have been unable to even launch the DLC's levels since its release and it doesn't appear as if it will ever be fixed since the developer has never posted on the discussion forums and rarely posts on their Facebook page; however, I appear to be one of the few lucky ones who was actually able to play through the entire campaign. Unfortunately, the game isn't without issues as it doesn't have any music during the levels and instantly freezes and crashes if you perform any mouse inputs during specific waves on the 18th, 19th, and 20th levels which is extremely annoying.
Unlike the base game which gradually grants you access to new towers and slowly introduces new enemies, the DLC adds nothing new and consequently does nothing to incentivize you to keep playing. The levels quickly become vapid since you've already unlocked everything that the game has to offer and they give you no reason to complete them, let alone the entire campaign on the three difficulties, other than to collect more meta currency.
Although the cloaked enemies add an additional use for one of the upgraded forms of the support tower, these enemies are few and far between and can be dealt with using area-of-effect towers or abilities anyways. Plus, I think that this mechanic should have been part of the base game to begin with and the fact that it isn't is a bewildering design choice.
Overall, I don't recommend it because it doesn't appear to work for most people, it's unstable if it even does work and there's no music whatsoever, and it's a vacuous DLC which frankly adds nothing meaningful to the game other than artificially adding more playtime (which the base game already has plenty of).

DLC crashes consistently. Was never able to launch. What a shame, the original game was a lot of fun for the price.

This DLC has issues with crashing during certain waves if you upgrade turrets during the wave. I was able to make it though the entire DLC with few issues.
