Wanted to try this game as I enjoy survival-crafts. Though honestly the game just feels like a slightly beefier DayZ far more than it does an actual survival-craft. I also couldn't quite get over the controls.. You use the mousewheel to run.. and crouch.. The camera position is odd.. Like you're playing an MMORPG.. but you're not.. The starting inventory is abysmally small, which is irritating, especially when you're trying to craft beginning gear and have to pick up materials one by one and carry them sometimes 20-50 feet to a pile in order to craft something.. The combat has no impact and is pretty sketchy.. The GUI and GUI controls are a mess.. ..And there's no private multiplayer hosting.. :(

So, this is not my first purchase and I have more than 1000 h in game total. I mostly played 2 years ago and returned now with the release. Game is not at release state. I jumped to official pve server and this is my experience of the first week: I have lost a chest full of loot by taking it in hands - it’s just disappeared. I have broken my fish line multiple times because fish animation bugged at the end of mini game. I have encountered multiple hordes and npc spawns few meters in front of me. I have not found any vehicle because apparently some clan locked all vehicles on the pve server. I spent more time trying to dry my clothes than exploring the POIs. Developers, I support your project since release and I hope you will open your eyes and immediately address issues that ruin player experience. You have enough feedback and resources to do so.

Made it where you couldnt buy lead plates from trader, and reduced the amount of bunkers in the game. Literally killed the end game loop. The devs for this game are dumb as bricks.

Its good, but it's also bad. loooooooooong standing issues still remain unaddressed. The inventory system is archaic. Bad design choices (like having to search containers for loot - a real time sink) seem well and truly baked in now. Somewhere around release 0.7 or 0.8 they just got rid of birds. Now, birds were the starting players best friend. They gave you target practise for bows, provided feathers to make better arrows and of course, your first chicken tendies. Were birds perfect ? No. But they existed. Now they don't. Now - you go to the TRADERS YES TRADERS as soon as possible and hang around one like a blowfly until you get all your gear from there instead of actually looting the world. GRIPPING STUFF. Once you've graduated to basic grunt equipment, of course, then there's a whole map of goodies. None of which you;ll get a good look at until you get a vehicle. Which you'll have to find spare parts for. Where ? Try .... THE TRADERS again. Or run/walk/lie down to recover stamina all the way across the map to the ONLY place that spawns a lot of random vehicle parts. It's your life, you choose to live it your way. The guns are good. The zombies are hyper-aggressive and scary. The big robots are intimidating. The flying big robots are also intimidating. The vehicle physics are fantastic. I mean the mechanics of the game are amazing. The progression management is abysmal and I doubt it's ever given any thought. If it is, someone is using their liver to think these up instead of their brain.

I have put in a tremendous amount of time playing and tormenting over this game. All in all I am now pissed and at a point, especially after the 1.0 release, where I am too tired and fed up of the Puppets bleeding through walls and spawning in random locations, Mechs still shoot through multiple solid objects etc etc. The time it takes to loot and set up a character to only be utterly screwed over is just not worth playing anymore. Spending hours to have it all ripped away because of faulty programming just isn't worth it. Buy another game that wont steal your precious time. Also, the game is called Scum for a reason. The fan base outside of the game seems okay but in-game it's a totally different animal. For those of you willing to buy this game and spend your precious time on just be prepared to be consistently upset.

⚠️ SCUM Review — 4,000 Hours In, and Still Not Giving Up (Yet) Let’s get one thing straight: I love SCUM. I've poured just shy of 4,000 hours into this game — through wipes, crashes, bugs, brilliant updates, and broken mechanics. I’ve built bases in the woods, hunted players across the map, died to puppets, died to lag, died to hackers... and come back every time. Because when SCUM works, it’s one of the most immersive survival experiences out there. But here’s the thing: It’s starting to feel like we’re surviving the dev cycle more than the game itself. 🔥 The Good (And It's Still Damn Good) The gunplay? Sharp and satisfying. The survival mechanics? Deep and rewarding. The map? Massive, beautiful, and brutal. The freedom? Unmatched. You want to go full PvP warlord, stealthy forest hermit, car hoarder, RP trader, or a one-man vengeance story — SCUM lets you. That’s why I keep coming back. The sandbox has so much potential it’s insane. 🐛 But the Bugs Still Bite After all this time, the game still struggles with performance issues, desync, and features breaking post-patch. It’s expected in early access, sure — but at 4,000 hours in, some of these bugs feel more like permanent roommates than temporary guests. The hacker problem? Worse than ever. And with no reliable anti-cheat measures, you don’t just lose gear — you lose trust. 🏦 A Simple Fix That Could Save It Let me speak directly to the devs here — and hopefully the new owners (Jagx, if I'm not mistaken — correct me if I’m wrong): If you want to restore community trust and stop hackers from burning this game down, here's a fix that could change everything: Add a basic bank system. It doesn’t need to hold everything. Just a few slots. And let it store fame points and a couple of high-value items. That’s it. Not game-breaking. Just game-saving. Because right now? Hackers wipe players off the map, and there’s zero fallback. The grind becomes meaningless. The community gets discouraged. Servers go quiet. 💸 Don’t Sell the Soul for Cosmetics Look — I’m not against DLC. I’ve supported the game with my wallet gladly. But lately, it’s feeling more like paid cosmetics are the focus — while fundamental features, fixes, and progression systems sit untouched. And I get it — money keeps the lights on. But if SCUM becomes another cash shop wrapped in chaos, the core community — the players who have put in years — will walk away. And you won’t get them back. Final Verdict: ⚖️ 7.5/10 — “Still the best survival sandbox out there... but running out of time to save itself.” I’m not writing this to hate. I’m writing this because I care. Because I still love SCUM. Because I want to see it become what it could be — what it should be. The bones are here. The soul is here. Now it’s up to the devs — and Jagx — to decide if SCUM lives up to its potential… or becomes just another “what could’ve been.” We’re still here. But we won’t wait forever.

If you get good at the game they will simply ban you, Don't waste your time. Devs do not care if you're false banned or not, There mindset is "oh well just buy another copy". Meanwhile actual cheaters run rampant. Officials are infested with cheaters that they refuse to ban and the entire community relies on one person to ban cheaters across all the servers, It's pathetic. All of the admins apart from 1 are useless. I've worked with this admin to ban Hundreds of cheaters. Don't get me started on private servers these people are pure Snowflakes if you show any form of skill they will ban you. The constant harassment/accusations "can you record this" "my base is unraidable" "it's impossible to pick 4 golds in 4 attempts". The end game content is non existent all you do is train a character forever by Dancing in a PVE zone(Usually with macros btw), Build a base to afk inside of until some cheaters decides to make everything disappear after going offline for 20 minutes. Find keycard do Killbox, farm Abandoned Bunkers rinse and repeat. The only fun part of end game is raiding and if you're good at it you WILL get banned On EVERY private server. I've played this game since 2018 and they do me dirty like this... Disgusting.
