on PCIE 2.0 Radeon HD 7770 1GB gets 3.58 GB/s Radeon RX 580 8GB gets 5.92GB/s i don't know the limit of PCIE 2.0, the theoretical limit with x16 should be 8GB/s this benchmark shows if the pcie is the limit?

As if you'd ever figure out that the PCI bus was the bottleneck. But maybe there will be a day when it is, and for that day, this test is here.

Actually works! I'm impressed by how it stress-tests my PCIe devices (I don't have any ports above PCIe 3.0 - yet). I'm able to push 6 Gbs and ended with about 30 FPS - not bad!

The fact that this feature test came out as a backdrop of the PCIe 4.0 equipped Ryzen 3000 series processor makes me question since when has PCIe become a bottleneck? The answer is, it never was the bottleneck, yet it always has been the bottleneck. Remember when Nvidia upgraded their SLI bridges to SLI HB (High Bandwidth) with double the bandwidth, then to NVLink with even higher bandwidth? Yet AMD decided to ditch Crossfire bridges and switched to bridgeless Crossfire. (Plus, SLI certification requires a PCIe x8 lanes while Crossfire requires only x4) It’s up to the installation, implementation and application that shapes how PCIe, an electrical connection, is utilized. A PCIe 4.0 x4 connection is capable carrying as much as a PCIe 3.0 x8 connection, or even a PCIe 2.0 x16 connection. So, there’s no definitive answer to my original question. Plus, the result you gathered from the feature test is pretty much similar to what Wikipedia page shows anyway.
