Syberia is a timeless point-and-click adventure that blends mechanical wonders with a deeply melancholic atmosphere. Even after all these years, it remains one of the most unique and heartfelt journeys in gaming. You play as Kate Walker, whose simple legal assignment slowly transforms into a personal journey of self-discovery. The locations are breathtaking, the characters are memorable, and the slow unraveling of the story keeps you invested until the very end. The soundtrack ties everything together perfectly, enhancing the mood at every step. It’s true that the game shows its age — the pacing is slow, the controls are dated, and some puzzles can feel a little illogical. But if you can embrace its classic style, you’ll find an unforgettable adventure worth experiencing. Pros: ✔ Atmospheric and unique world ✔ Beautiful, fitting soundtrack ✔ Touching, well-written story ✔ Memorable characters and dialogue Cons: ➖ Outdated controls ➖ Occasionally illogical puzzles ➖ Slow pacing may not appeal to everyone Score: 8.5/10 — A classic adventure that leaves a lasting emotional mark. A journey into a world that no longer exists, but one you’ll always want to revisit.

Syberia is one of the more original Point and Click adventurer games, from the days of old. You follow Kate Walker, a lawyer from New York, as she's sent to the small town of Valadilène to facilitate the sale of an automaton toy factory, following the owner’s death. Not the most riveting story elements one could have chosen though. Though I never got to experience it back then, the game is widely recognised as one of the classics, and so assuredly it is one everyone, whose a fan of point and click games, should experience. The game has similarities with The Longest Journey in that regard. Both in regards to their status in the Point and Click genre, but also for some of the similarities in their structure. Both games starts as a contemporary setting, but quickly changes to involve the weird and fantastical, which in the case for Syberia involves Steampunk automatons. The story is slowly paced and steadily unravels the world of Syberia and eccentricity of the the Voralberg family. Though Syberia feels like one part of a whole, and probably should be played alongside Syberia 2, as the story doesn't really come to a satisfying conclusion towards the end of the first game. The story also focuses just as much on Kate Walker's character development, and perhaps even more so, than the story of the Voralberg family. The puzzles are of middling quality, nothing overly great or terrible. Syberia is more about the setting and its world. Technically the 2D pre-rendered scenes of the original struggle in today's monitor resolutions, and can at times simply be too grainy and low res, and likely doesn't do the game and it's world and atmospheric setting justice. It can also be problematic at times, when you're trying to pixel hunt for the objects you can interact with. You may also need to resort to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Syberia and various technical guides, in order to get the game to run on a modern setup. So it is worth it to play Syberia still? It's one of those old classic games that you probably should experience, but at this point in time you're likely better off waiting for the remake coming out soon.

Easily my top 3 favorite games out there. The OST was one of the main things that made me fall in love with this game. Kate is so severely underrated it actually pains me to see that nobody really talks about her or this game series. Also rip Benoit Sokal, thank you for giving me an obsession with this series since middle school.
