Shame they haven't added any undead to the game yet, but maybe someday. Great maps, cool weapons, interesting new event types. Would recommend if you enjoy the base game.

This dlc is so well made that it has caused me to write my first steam review. Every level and addition is so well made, but the Dungeons level really takes the cake. That level blew all my expectations out of the water. It was so intense and frantic that the whole experience just refreshed my love for gaming.

It is always nice to delve into the perspective of the individual (yet powerful) heroes of the Warhammer universe. Obviously people are drawn to the strategy games and table tops and 40k may even be more popular. But on to the DLC. The atmosphere is immersive as hell. As a fan of the Warhammer lore and reader of the black library novels it is very cool to see these landmarks in imagery. The poison feast made me feel like I was playing a hero engulfed in the realization of the end times. It feels like these five characters are ever so slowly making a difference. The dungeon was impressive peppered with traps and iron maidens and all tools of torture. Castle interiors littered with exaduarted amounts of bones and death. The immersion of ratmen pouring out of the portals was exciting. Traversing the pitch dark was tense. Call me simple but it's the little things. What I didnt like was things that may contradict. Needing to carry a torch through the darkness, rendering a character un playable was silly. We have a bright mage, why cant she light the place up. And if its a foursome with out the mage dwarves and elves has an affinity of seeing well in the dark. Magical darkness? I dont know. I also thought the protecting of generators was just a cut from the well map. The most annoying being the protection via ranged weapons only. Not hard annoying, its annoying annoying. With all that said, what lets me down is the lack of content. Three new stages, fine, but for 8.99 I kind of wanted a little more than just three. A small nitpick. I also would expect maybe a new enemy type. A new mechanic of some way shape or form. A bigger progress through the info/story of end times of some sort. 8.99 might be out of some peoples price range. Anyways I do reckomend it, especially for Warhammer fans. I have yet to see any new weapons or trinkets but then again I only played on normal and one map on hard. If you got the cash, fine. If you dont, understandable. It's not that big of a DLC.

This DLC gives you three new maps which all seem to fit in well with the maps of the base game. If you want more of Vermintide, then this is for you, but if you want more from Vermintide, then perhaps not.
Castle Drachenfells
This mission mostly sees you exploring the upper levels of the castle to look for a chalice. There's a mixture of claustrophobic passages and large halls with lots of open space. The map provides plenty of detours that you can take to look for items, and might be a little bit maze-like for a player dropping in for the first time, but in reality it is fairly straightforward. It's a good length, and the setting no less detailed than a base-game mission, with plenty to look at. The tomes are easy to find and this is the most popular, and most standard-fare, mission of the three.
The Dungeons
This mission continues from Castle Drachenfells and sees you travel deeper underground to find even more treasure. It's not quite as pretty as the last mission because you can't quite see as much, as this mission features a new darkness mechanic, with some spike traps that sit ready to catch you out. For a large part of the level you must stick close to whichever team member is holding a torch. The effect of the torch is atmospheric, but only briefly, as you'll find it's continually dropped and picked up again. Because the torch works on the ground, people will just throw it on the floor when they need to fight. When they pick it up again, it teleports into their hands rather than lifts off the ground slowly, meaning a very jarring change in the lighting.
Summoner's Peak
This is an objective-driven mission and seems to be the least popular of the three, but it isn't bad. It's just a slightly more convoluted Well Watch with a slightly more adventurous map. You have to defend three portal generators from Skaven who are throwing buckets of water on them to cool them down. You're wait for each individual generator to overheat and explode before moving on to the next one. There is a little bit of standard mission between each generator as destroying each one opens a linear path to the next. I actually quite like this map; I like it more than other 'objective based' maps. Each generator is positioned differently relative to you and the skaven onslaught, so it doesn't quite feel like you're just repeating the same thing. The weapons unique in design, and that's great, but don't buy this solely for them unless you really love grinding. It's only two weapons, for only two characters, and you can only get them on three maps. You'll be very lucky if you just play this casually and pick them up at random. I don't believe these maps are outstanding, or the DLC itself is outstanding, but it's good for a slight change of pace from the regular missions, if this is a game you already enjoy. It's really also great that only the host of a game needs to actually own this, and can freely invite all of their friends who don't. It's definitely worth it if you have a group of people that you want to play with.

Owning this DLC will let you invite friends to play with you even if they do not own the DLC! New weapons, new missions. What do you want more for a dlc? I love it already! Thank you Fatshark

Was a hard choice between Karak Azgaraz, Stromdorf and this one. Stromdorf is on sale more expensive than the other two DLC's with 3 missions (I don't care whether later released or not). Karak is beautiful, but the missions are, apart from the looks, quite similar to the main game. This DLC got more "unique" missions I found. The Drachenfels DLC got three missions, namely: Castle Drachenfels The most mainstream of all these missions. Just in a castle. Map is maze-like and easy to get lost in some parts. The event is placing three statues. These statues look exactly like the ones you carry around Wizard Tower to unlock the bonus mission. Nonetheless, I really like it. Dungeons Perhaps the coolest of all three missions. Apart from the spike traps you were introduced to in the Drachenfels mission, you have some old-school jump sections and parts which are pitch dark; including the final room. Luckily, there are torches around. But carrying a torch allows you only to block and not to use your weapons. So the team has to stick together in order to protect the torch bearer and see something in the pitch dark. I think 2 Rat Ogres spawn in this map; one in the final chamber and one randomly as usual. Summoner's Peak Depending on your team, this can be a piece of cake or a true nightmare. Imagine Well Watch on steroids: You gotta protect 3 generators from water pouring rats which spawn out of portals you'll have to destroy by overheating these generators. The generators appear in different locations throughout the map and the 2nd and third generator will spawn a Rat Ogre. Great map for Sienna, if two people protect the generators. - The 2nd generator is very hard to solo. Each generator has its own tactics, which is really nice. So, if we forget about the really high price, even on sale, considering Vermintide 2 comes out soon...it is to me the best of all DLC's and at least the elf weapon is quite useful, I guess.
A spooky rampage through the most infamous of all haunted castles in the old world while swiping loathsome ratmen left and right..
Not a bad DLC at all if you are into haunted castles and grim perilous adventures in the footsteps of the fel enchanter Drachenfels. To those interested in the gameplay alone you get three great maps that really encapsulated the atmosphere of a journey outside and inside an old decrepit castle while constantly fighting the endless hordes of ratmen out to capitalize on its dark secrets. You also get 2 new weapons, the mighty glaive for Kerillian and a repeater crossbow for Saltzpyre. Personally I love the glaive and continue to praise it in VT2, but you won’t need any of the weapons from this expansion. Get it to support the Fat Shark or simply to enjoy a romp through cobwebbed halls. It adds more longevity to the already amazing Vermintide, and that is more than enough for me to get a recommendation.

These new maps are seriously cool. I love that they didn't just give us more of the same environment-wise -- the levels feel very different from what we have so far. The addition of torches, darkness, traps, and other crazy things makes for a wild (and difficult) ride, but they're totally worth the money. Also, like the original maps, they look gorgeous and the scenery is breathtaking (or breathtakingly grotesque). I do wish that they'd given some new mechanics for level progression beyond "carry X thing to Y location." That's gotten a little stale, and they use that for 2 of the 3 maps again. Also, I've been wanting the addition of boss fights for a while, and I'm disappointed that there are still no bigger enemies beyond ogres. Also, this DLC is playable by people who don't own it, as long as the host of the map does. Try before you buy!

You can buy it if you want to support a decent developer and other people can play the new content with you hosting. Sounds like a fair deal to me and I honestly have no idea why people are whining about the price when they can pretty much play it for free. I guess you can't please everybody. The new maps are nice and atmospheric, the new weapons are fun and the story connected to the maps seems to set up a trip to Sylvania in the future which would be pretty nice indeed. Buy the DLC if you want to support the studio... or don't and have other people host it. Either way it's a situation where you can't lose.

3 new extremely detailed maps, with a lot of new stuff such as the torch, it was a great add to the game mechanics leading the coop to a new level, please more maps with torch! New traps and a lot of paths to the same objective. The price on my region is very fair. THANKS Devs. P.S.: Owning this DLC will let you invite friends to play with you even if they do not own the DLC!
