This game is good, I have learned to stay away from this black hole. Other games that borrow from this game instantly get a feature I love.

Amazing game. I would wax on about it, but I don't know where to start! Space Age is worth the extra expense.

Real Life slips away, grass a distant memory of another man, before there was friends and birds and air and work and things to become, before there was chaos, Now there is order, ratios, routing, busses, bottlenecks, and absolute mastery of my world. Conveyor belts swim in my dreams, inserters are my only friends, the factory must grow, for nothing beyond the factory exists any longer. 10/10 would reccomend

It's been a long time since I absolutely fell in love with a game. As I approach 30, I have a hard time finding a good game and sticking to it, but this, this game man. I lose track of time when I play this game, I just can't stop automating the next thing, it's like drugs? Cracktorio

It is a true masterpiece in the genre of automation and resource management. If you enjoy the idea of building the perfect factory, optimizing production, and solving logistical challenges, this game will draw you in for dozens, if not hundreds, of hours.

From my experience, Factorio is the gift that keeps on giving. Compared to the amount you spend on the game, you can easily get that much time of fun or much much more if it is the type of game you like. While many people like to show of their complicated designs and optimized blueprints, for any new player I would recommend trying to make things yourself. The game has a difficulty curve that tries to match your level dynamically. As such, getting ahead of yourself may result in the biters demolishing you and your base because you expanded the factory more than you should have without the relevant preparations. This does not mean that you cannot use other's blueprints, or should not try to build fast, as that is what speedrunners do to great success. And watching others is fun and can teach you a lot saving a lot of grief early on.
Regarding the actual gameplay, I cannot recommend the tutorial levels enough to everyone. Even veteran players can find some fun there due to the easter eggs hidden on the map or the many challenges that can be done. As the tutorial is included in the free Factorio demo, anyone can play and see exactly what they are getting into before committing to the purchase. In Freeplay, the Factoriopedia accessed though the menu or clicking alt and left click on any item to see its details, how to make it, how to use it, and how to unlock it. The factoriopedia and the tech tree (I'd recommend only looking at the yellow unlockables initially to avoid being overwhelmed) show you how to progress if you are lost. There is always more to learn, but the game can be very forgiving and with very superficial knowledge of the mechanics you can beat the game. All the bells and whistles come later when you are ready for them. Also, the mods page is your friend, use the quality of life mods as needed for the convenience.

I have played for 105 hours. I have not launched a rocket. I cannot automate things properly. I cannot figure out how to balance supply. I have very little idea what I'm doing. I restart a lot.
This game is absolutely incredible and I must keep playing more. Just IN. CRED. I. BLE.
Must. Play. More.

No need to explain what the game is about, the trailer does a fantastic job for that.
There is a lot of reasons why this game is the gold standard of automation games.
First and simplest: no bugs. None that you will encounter unless you start combining mods anyway. Or doing some REALLY weird shit.
Second: Length. Going in blindly, you can fire up a rocket in about 60 hours. And call it a day if you want.
Or try to launch more rockets ? What about 10 ? What about 100 ? What about one every second while fully automated ? If you like it and want to, the game will bring you from 60 hours to 600. Oh and that's just Vanilla.
Third: Mods. The game has a mod store embedded IN THE GAME, one click from the main menu to install any mod. And those only expand the game tenfold.
Fourth: Customization. Don't want to fight ennemies triggered by pollution ? You don't have to. Don't want to spend hours setting up outposts when you run out of resources ? You don't have to (increase richness of ore patches). Don't like cliffs ? Remove them. etc...
Fifth: Community management. They are on hiatus at the moment, but Wube software published a Friday Factorio Facts every single Friday for seven years. And then would answer to the feedback on the forums or reddit. Most of the constructive feedback was adressed, and countless good suggestions were included in the game over the years.
Sixth: Limitless possibilities. If you decide to dive into circuit control, you can pretty much do whatever your minds desire in this game. Seen over the years: A pong game, a FFMPEG player, a self-expanding factory.

I started Factorio as a mere man. A fool. A weak, pathetic human who thought "I'll just play for an hour." That was 4 days ago. My body is in ruins, my mind sharper than ever. I have eliminated all inefficient thoughts. My blood pressure fluctuates in perfect sync with my main bus throughput. The factory must grow.
"it’s just a game."
WRONG.
It is a way of life. Do you think a beaver calls dam-building a game? Do you think an ant optimizes for fun? No. It is war, it is survival. And every second wasted is a lost potential space science pack.
The police came after neighbors reported "mechanical whirring" from my apartment. I explained that my copper smelting arrays required better output. They called me "unstable." Fools. They are blind to the inefficiency all around them.
I tried to return to work. My boss asked for an urgent report. I set up an automated Excel system to generate real-time charts. He said he just needed a PDF. I informed him that the conversion was in a later stage of the production chain. My coworkers tried to make small talk at lunch. They asked about my family. I replied that family unit production was currently outside my scope. I have lost all capacity for normal human interaction.
I no longer dream of love, friends, or companionship. I dream of belts. I dream of robots. I dream of perfect, fluid efficiency.
If an Amazon logistics manager saw my factory, he would fall to his knees and weep — tears of admiration, terror, and unworthiness. His entire career, his vast warehouses, his so-called "efficiency" would seem like the crude fumblings of a caveman smashing rocks together.
Now I am an optimization algorithm wrapped in human skin. A transhumanist entity, devoid of inefficiency. My heartbeat syncs with production ticks, my thoughts run in parallel processing. Emotions? Redundant. Rest? A bottleneck. The only metric that matters is output.
The factory must grow.
