Bugged and boring walking simulator. I regret the time I wasted.
Don't get me wrong, game has unique mechanics - for example, after death you will get all your stuff back like swords, items, masks etc., but you will start game from the start. That is really cool, AT FIRST, because you can choose different trope and routs, fractions, make different desicions. But doing all errands like "go and kill\deliver" for second and third time is VERY time consuming and boring. 5 out of 6 my hours of gameplay was just running from one side of the map to the other. Game has it's atmosphere, all character designs are badass, especially bandits Ouga designs. Fighting is cool too, that's not a simple PRESS X TO WIN, there are different stances, types of weapons, perks, etc. Locations... well, they have atmosphere of feudal Japan, but really sucks at navigation. Map is REALLY small, so you will learn all routs eventually. But you will suffer first hour of running. I really wanted to reccomend this game at least on sale, but I don't think I will return here in any possible future just because how time consuming and boring this game could be and that's why I don't recommend to play it.

i need a way to remap the controller ok button.
i accidentally used the currently mapped ok button for another action and i'm currently unable to play the game as there is no ok button for the controller and there is no way to select any option using the controller

⚔️ Freedom, Steel, and a Whole Lot of Endings!
"Way of the Samurai 3" is a unique action-adventure game that drops you into feudal Japan and tells you to write your own story.
You play as a wandering ronin who wakes up wounded in a battlefield, and from there, everything is up to you.
Do you help the local villagers, side with corrupt lords, or betray everyone just for fun?
The game doesn’t hold your hand, and that’s part of its charm.
There are over 20 endings, and each playthrough can be wildly different depending on your choices.
Combat is fast and flashy, with dozens of swords and styles to master.
You can disarm enemies, forge your own weapons, and even learn new moves by watching others fight.
It’s rough around the edges, though, especially in terms of controls and animations.
The visuals are dated, even by late 2000’s standards, but they have a certain charm that fits the setting.
Voice acting is a mix of dramatic and hilarious, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not.
The world feels small at first, but as you explore, it opens up with more characters, secrets, and quests.
It’s one of those games that rewards curiosity and replaying more than brute force.
The freedom is incredible, letting you kill anyone, join any faction, or just wander around fishing.
But that same freedom can also feel confusing, especially if you're new and don’t know where to start.
Still, if you like games that let you mess around and shape the world with your decisions, this one’s a gem.
It’s not polished like big AAA titles, but it has soul, creativity, and replay value for days.
"Way of the Samurai 3" might not be for everyone, but for fans of sandbox storytelling and samurai drama, it’s a cult classic worth discovering.

Runs on steam now without any file tinkering! Thank you Steam Staff!
pros - Fun quick run and multi ending game especially if your into traditional Japanese culture with some embellishment. Character creation is good. Awesome selection of weapons and moves tied to them. Easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master. The stories are cool. (if you like this game I highly recommend the second in the series)
cons - Rng on weapon stats, Rng on upgrading at smith, and no real quick way to scum save and load. I don't know if its a me specific problem but every time my controller gets unpluged game freezes and i have to restart my computer.

This game is so addicting, as an enjoyer of the past two Way of the Samurai games, this one is just as addicting. I don't like how this game is locked at 30, and the pc port requires some fixing up, but the fact that its on steam, and on sale for under 6 Australian dollars is a no brainer, one of the best samurai games ever made, I love the Choose your own adventure type system, with a bunch of side activities to do, I also love the combat system, its not just hack and slash button spamming, It requires commitment and intention, same with the weapon system, tons of different weapons to find that you can upgrade, and even build your own with various parts, So many different endings, so much customisability and unlockables, this is a game i will be playing for a while, might even revisit the PS2 classics. Praying for a WOTS5

An underrated gem. I've been trying to find a reasonably realistic samurai game and this one absolutely delivered. Fun, challenging combat with so many different stances to choose from, each one with a customizable move set. The strongest aspect of this game is it's open-endedness. There's a whopping 28 different endings and to top it off, infinite new game plus so you get to keep your XP, your items and your weapons every time you start a new playthrough. Of course there's a few flaws. The graphics are really outdated, even for a 2008 title. Personally, i don't really care about graphics but i recognize that it might be a deal breaker for some. The only major shortcoming of this game is it's size. The map is ridiculously small for an open world game, if you can even call it that. There's a total of 8 regions and each region is fairly small or to put it bluntly, really small. There's no room for exploration at all. After visiting each region only once, you'll know the whole map like the back of your hand.
