Unfortunately I have to change my review from positive to negative. Just over two years ago, having received the assets to upgrade this DLC from NKSN Games, Tabletop Simulator developer 'Kimiko' posted on the official forum that the expansion 'Valskyrr' was in the queue as a free update. We still only have the base game. I would accept it as a paid add-on at this point.

This game is a bit of a letdown. The setup was difficult and we were very disappointed that it wasn't automated like many other official DLC for Tabletop Simulator. The game itself is also fairly convoluted due to some poor design choices and extremely specific actions. The artwork is wonderful, but frankly, we gave up on the rules after trying to figure everything out for a couple hours.

It's a wonderful game. Actually I'm not a native English speaker, thus I spent almost 4 hours to read through the manual and another 2 hours to explain everything to my playmates. I have to say the reading itself is more than enough interesting. However, it seems I can only spent another 5 hours to play through all four quests. This is the shortcoming. Do you think the simplicity of the game contents match the vividness of the concepts and the prudence of the rules? I know free expansions are not to expect. But why not publish more TS dlcs based on the previous excellent work! Looking for that sincerely.

This game's great. 1-4 players too, so you can fumble through the manual with the first suggested scenario. The rules aren't too bad, but they're not insubstantial, either. DnD-lite character stats/ability/inventory with simpler engagement and encounter rules that actually feels more like a coop Munchkin. Plenty of complexity and replayability. The table and environment is one of the best I've seen in the DLC, though the textures on the mountains seem kinda lowres. Love the player area layouts and the chit sorting. It would be nice to have an automated way to random and/or setup starting hero layouts on the table. I'm thinking of Zombicide's table-setup device, but I don't know what kind of engine restrictions there are--that game's tool only put things in the center of the table. I don't hold that against the game though; you can just random 1-7 and maybe pulling stuff outta the bags is part of the fun. I think there's a couple typos in the main 2.0 rules. There's an "n" missing from "in" near the bottom right of page 10. And the bottom-left example on pg 12 says "Hero Area [Q]" instead of "Hero Area [H]", despite getting it correct in the next sentence.

A reasonably challenging game from what I've played so far. It's quite rules-heavy and just getting the basics down and everything properly set up takes hours. That being said, if you've ever GMed a tabletop RPG like Pathfinder then learning this game should be no trouble for you. From my experience with it, I recommend it. It's well worth the price especially given that there are relatively few official options to play an RPG-like boardgame online with friends.

If there is one thing that can really earn a boardgame ire and dislike, it has to be a poor ruleset. This is a game that has such an excellent premise - yet, it doesn't execute the rules to play the game. Looking at the rulebook is a nightmare, sometimes rules aren't in the rulebook, knowing what to do is pretty well up to the player.... I don't recommend this one.

I really dislike it when developers charge money for a TTS mod, but then cannot be bothered to provide a separate guide on how to use the game within TTS. It's possible that I have missed the guide, but I've spent some time looking for it and haven't been able to. As it stands, it appears as though the assets were scanned in along with a copy of the rule book, and players are left on their own to work out how the mod functions. As a result, I haven't actually played Mistfall, so cannot comment on the quality of the game itself. If I am directed to a guide that explains how to use the mod I'll consider changing my review but, as of now, I can't recommend it to anyone other than those already familiar enough with the game to be able to work out what to do, and those people will already know whether they like the game or not.

Rules-heavy, overly complicated and very, vey difficult. I wouldn't recommend unless you are a hardcore tabletop gamer, or someone with lots of free time to put in hours of effort to learn so you can try it out.

This is a faithful recreation of a tabletop game that had significant potential, but lots of problems. The layout is excellent. Rules tablets, grid/snap points, diagrams for setup right on the table, and every object moving in just the way you want it to. This module makes excellent use of a lot of the convenience features Tabletop Simulator provides. The only exception is that each hero's Basic and Advanced feats are all in one unorganized deck together, even though at the start of every game, you'll want to separate them. For better or for worse, the problems this module has are the same as those of the physical boardgame, namely, errata. So much major errata, you'll probably have to go to Google to set up your first game... and your second, and your third. Like the physical game, it feels like the "final" version of the rules was never playtested with the "final" version of the components, since there are several issues anyone paying attention could not fail to notice. Mistfall has major problems that could have been fixed in playtesting, or even in this digital version, but weren't. For a lighter game, this might be forgiveable; for Mistfall, it takes an already heavy, complex experience, and makes it both confusing and contradictory. When you set up your hero, you'll find cards you start with that have prices on them - ones that you should have to buy. You'll find equipment that you can't use. When you set up a quest, you'll be told to use a tile that doesn't exist, or you'll have contradictory instructions on the quest summary card vs. the quest rulebook. Even though the tablet just links to the PDF on the creator's website, the quest rulebook is still uncorrected. The summary cards refer to at least one step that isn't in the rulebook. Want to know how it works? Go to Google. As I said, these are problems that also affect the physical version of the game, but that's what makes this DLC so disappointing. In a digital version of a game, it's easy to incorporate errata, but that simply hasn't been done. If it had, this would be an outright superior version of a boardgame that is plagued by unclear rules and incorrect components. Furthermore, it's clear that it's a problem of either lack of resources, or lack of motivation by NSKN Games, the publisher of the physical boardgame. Errataed PDFs of the rulebook and questbook aren't included in this module... because they don't exist. NSKN has put out images for errataed cards, but there are so many more incorrect cards than they've put out the images for... and even the corrections that do exist are not in this module. If you own the tabletop game and want to play with your friends online, buy this DLC. If you want a faithful, piece-by-piece recreation of the tabletop game, with Tabletop Simulator's convenience features added, buy this DLC. If you want a version of Mistfall that is actually playable without great errata-induced frustration, do not buy this DLC. Until rulebooks are updated, and complete component erratas are included, no such version exists.

It is a rule heavy game with a lot of things to remember. It took me around 6 hours total to learn the rules, I used Rahdo´s runthrough on youtube, its easy to find. The game has a lot going to it and is very hard. The most interesting mechanic to me was the deck building, which makes the game both harder and easier if you are lucky or unlucky. It functioned well with 1 player if you choose a character that plays better in that particular quest. For the introduction quest I suggest you try the healer class, lots of divine and flames. Haven´t tried with more players but im guessing 2-3 is perfect and that a 4th player is going to become a time consuming hell portal. Don´t buy this if you like quick games with a light ruleset. Buy this if you like to torture yourself with very hard difficulty games like Arkham or Eldritch horror.
