You know the power restoring scene in Jurassic Park? It's like that but you got a gun and tank controls.

Welcome to Dino Crisis
Another masterpiece from Capcom
Dinosaurs hunting you
And a cheesy plot that only adds to the atmosphere
And a clever crafting system for your survival
This game is simply a masterpiece

You're Extinct!!!
Dinos are cool. There's great suspense when you're running down a hallway and a dino bursts in that is way faster than you, racing to the end. And then quite literally with a classic Capcom chase sequence
I never felt either over or under equipped, there was a good balance throughout the game where you have to slowly learn the mix system and juggle inventory. When can you afford to use some ammo to take out some dinos, and when you just need to serpentine.

Wish Capcom would go ahead and remake this already, BUT it is still pretty great. The controls are even a bit cleaner than the first Resident Evil, especially since you can move while aiming firearms.
This game drips atmosphere while not taking itself too seriously, and the puzzles are solid. Nothing mind bending, but still fun to work your way through. Would recommend!

Feels like the prototype to resident evil 3, but with raptors! (It's not, it's got a different inventory and item mixing setup, but very similar). There are a LOT of technical issues, and capcom decided to use DRM... okay boiz
Dunno man, I'd love to recommend this game... But it's rough AF. It's clunky, hard to play for people unaquainted with tank controls, and has not passed the test of time. They give you more healing items and ammunition than you'd want in normal arranged mode (the hardest mode), and easy exists for you folks as well. All in all, easier than any Resident evil I've played.
The control stick doesn't work well... controller's busted for me. I just play with the keyboard...
You avoid fast enemies unless they're in a high traffic area, do puzzles, and get your classic action schlock with "fan service" from that decade. You're Jurassic Park secret spy, avoiding getting attacked by dinosaurs and conserving ammo. You'll get QTEs where you'll have to mash buttons to be safe in cutscenes (remember the OG resident evil 4?)... things you don't need to enjoy a game.
Game's retro, and needs a remake. If you can play through it, it's not bad, but it's mostly nostalgia. It's not quite as good as resident evil 2, but it's worth a short romp.

Probably, Dino Crisis might be my favorite horror game of all time. When I was a kid, I loved the Jurassic Park series; it played a huge role in my life. In fact, I studied Archaeology simply because I grew up with Jurassic Park. Dino Crisis allowed me to look at such a universe from a completely different perspective: Dinosaurs out to kill you, and you have limited ammunition. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that Dino Crisis is a series I truly love.
However, this Steam version is nothing short of a disaster. Yes, it allows you to play the game in high resolution with non-pixelated graphics, but that is literally all it does. The game features English voice acting, but there are no English subtitles. People say, "It has English dubbing, what more do you want?" Guys, not everyone might speak English as their native language. Plus, the English dubbing is terrible. Why can't I play it with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles? Why do I have to pay 7 dollars just for minor pixel updates? What actual value does this add compared to an emulator? Absolutely nothing. They have literally slapped a 7-dollar price tag on basic, simple settings you can easily tweak in a PS2 emulator. I also want to talk about how terrible the control system is. If you're going to play with a keyboard and mouse, just don't play. if you're going to play with a gamepad, things get a bit tricky, whether you use the D-pad or not. Imagine this: you press the forward button and go straight. When you want to move to the right, you naturally tilt the analog stick to the right; but here, the character first turns to the right, and then you have to push the stick forward again just to move in that direction. You can imagine how frustrating that is when there are dinosaurs chasing after you. As I said, I love this series way too much, which is why I can speak this openly. Just go and play it on an emulator instead.
The only promising thing about this game coming to the Steam platform is the hope that maybe, just maybe, it will return as a proper Remastered title one day.
If you still wanna play, here's the short story of the game:
!!No spoiler!!
The story is set in a facility on an island where weapons are secretly being developed. For some time, there has been no word from the lead scientist or about the status of the facility itself. A soldier sent to inspect the area has also gone missing. A four-person special military team composed of Regina, Gail, Rick, and Cooper is sent to investigate. They parachute onto the island from a helicopter, but Cooper lands off-course in the jungle and is killed by a T-Rex. The rest of the game follows the remaining team as they investigate what happened in the facility and try to find their missing comrade.

If you've never played Dino Crisis, you're in for something special. It's not just "Resident Evil with dinosaurs", it has its own identity, blending survival horror, action, and puzzle-solving into an experience that still feels unique decades later.
The atmosphere is fantastic. Knowing that fast, intelligent dinosaurs can appear around almost any corner creates a level of tension that's very different from fighting slow zombies. Every encounter feels dangerous, and conserving resources is just as important as staying alive.
Regina is an excellent protagonist, the story is entertaining, and the setting keeps you engaged from beginning to end. The puzzles strike a nice balance, encouraging exploration without becoming frustrating, and the game's pacing rarely slows down.
Of course, the game shows its age with fixed camera angles and tank controls, but that's part of its charm. Once you adjust, the gameplay becomes incredibly satisfying. The pre-rendered backgrounds still look beautiful, and the soundtrack does a great job of building suspense.
Capcom did a great job bringing this classic to Steam. It's wonderful to see such an important survival horror game become easily accessible again.
If you're a fan of survival horror, dinosaurs, or simply want to experience one of Capcom's most underrated classics, Dino Crisis is absolutely worth your time.

Old, clunky and undeniably charming, Dino Crisis is definitely showing it's age, but it's still a good enough time. As Regina and Team, you try to capture a doctor and also find out what went wrong on a remote island. Here's what went wrong: dinosaurs!
The game features tank controls, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, and the usual early PS1 survival horror combination of warbly textures, a lot of backtracking and very limited resources. Still, it's a very atmospheric game that rewards clever use of resources, mixing of healing items and knowing when to use your limited plugs on resource boxes. It also rewards remembering where what paths lead, because the map is meh at best. This makes it pretty immersive, and sometimes a bit frustrating.
The game is also pretty hard as dinosaurs can kill you easily and killing them isn't always the best option; sometimes you just have to run away or fire a sleeping dart. There's two modes, the original japanese or the arranged mode, with different codes, item locations (I believe) and continue amounts between them. Personally, I prefer the original Japanese version, if only because you get 30 continues compared to 5, and save rooms are few and far between.
If you can handle some clunkiness, there is a lot of charm to be found in Dino Crisis. Between the old school tank controls, confusing facility layout, strong and cool dinosaurs and a cheesy story script, it's a good time for a few hours.

A terrible build of a good game. This whole thing is a trash fire of unneeded launchers and drm. The game cant even handle the registry information correctly. The hoops you have to jump through just to launch it on steamdeck are unacceptable. This is just capcom shoveling out garbage and nostalgia baiting.
