This game has my whole childhood inside it. well played Croateam, you still have me as your #1 fan.

Even back when Serious Sam games came out, they weren't really regarded for their quality. It's fun and if you like horde shooters then this is good but play this with a friend. Solo is not really something I'd reccomend. The biggest sin is that the last boss can still glitch and become unkillable or the mechanics don't activate. We have Doom these days so might as well ignore the old days of these games.

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is a remastered version of the 2001 classic, bringing back the fast-paced, chaotic FPS action with modernized visuals. While the game successfully captures the essence of old-school arcade shooters, it has a few drawbacks that hold it back from a higher score. The Good ✅ Classic Run-and-Gun Action – The game thrives on non-stop action, throwing hordes of enemies at the player in massive, open environments. The gameplay loop is simple but satisfying: shoot everything that moves, grab health and armor, and keep moving to survive. ✅ Beautiful HD Remaster – The graphical upgrade is impressive, with sharper textures, improved lighting, and a smoother framerate. The Egyptian-themed levels look fantastic, and the enemy designs remain as bizarre and terrifying as ever. ✅ Varied Enemy Types – From headless kamikazes screaming toward you to towering biomechanoids with missile launchers, Serious Sam keeps combat engaging with a diverse roster of foes that require different strategies to defeat. ✅ Co-op Mode – The game shines in co-op, allowing friends to tackle the insanity together. Facing hundreds of enemies solo can feel overwhelming, but with a team, the chaos becomes an enjoyable challenge. The Bad ❌ Repetitive Gameplay – While the core gameplay is fun, it can become repetitive after a while. The loop of entering an area, fighting waves of enemies, and moving to the next room happens constantly, which may feel monotonous for some players. ❌ Lack of Story Depth – Serious Sam has never been about deep storytelling, but the barebones plot (aliens invade, Sam fights back) feels like an afterthought. If you're looking for narrative-driven FPS games, this isn't it. ❌ Enemy Spam Can Be Overwhelming – While the game’s difficulty is a big part of its appeal, it sometimes relies too much on overwhelming the player with sheer numbers. Certain sections can feel frustrating, especially on higher difficulties. However, its repetitive nature, lack of depth, and reliance on enemy spam prevent it from being an all-time great.
