The "Do Not Recommend" is only a mild bit over "would recommend". All-in-all, this works as intended, mostly. It gives you everything the base game would, in addition to the Eons expansion. However, a number of significant complaints for this would include... - 8 player zones, but missing components for that many players - Lack of scripting use means that game elements, especially setup, take much longer than necessary given the possibilities TTS has. - The play space, while nice, feels way, way too empty given the components and their size. Especially without dedicated script use. It's a good buy if you want the virtual version of this game, but I wouldn't say $10 is worth it in hindsight. Recommend buying on sale or using some of the (admittedly less "nice") mods available.

In a previous review I was unhappy that this expansion didn't provide much for the price. They have since updated the DLC and it is WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY! Very happy with it, looks great, plays great, great fun!

Short and sweet, a great addition to the tabletop library. Hope to see more like it in the future. Only complaint I have is the default setup isn't exactly pretty looking, but gameplay and quality is great.

Cosmic Encounter is a fantastic game. It's a mad game of space poker with almost endless variety. Being able to play it with friends online is great news. Unfortunately, this paid DLC needs a bit of TLC to get the most out of it. I created a mod that automates all the setup and cleans the table up a bit to make it more user friendly. I own all the DLC so I'm not sure about compatibility if you don't. I'd recommend that you try it if you want to save yourself some time: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2182202444

Assets are placed awkwardly atop other necessary assets. There is no scripting and the expansions are just sitting aside waiting for players to do the work of adding them. If flipped, some cards fall through the table. The base game content is not prominently displaced relative to the expansions. The rulebooks are on tiny tablet screens that require the "magnify" button to read. The notebook links for some of the expansions' rules pdfs are broken. This is really unfortunate and not up to TTS standards for dlc.

Cosmic Encounter is one of the best board games of all time and this implementation is fantastic. The pieces are highly detailed and the game is easy and fun to play through Tabletop Simulator. With so many different variations, no two games will ever be the same. If you enjoy tabletop games, this a must buy. If you don't enjoy tabletop games, this is a must buy. Everyone should own this game.

Rubbish! We were playing for 40 minutes when we realised that not all our colours were in the destiny deck even though they were at seats at the table. Desperately needs an auto-setup to choose expansions, deal aliens, and put flare cards in the deck. Nowhere near good enough for the price listed. Then, there's problems like how hidden areas don't hide things. I love Cosmic, and it deserves so much better than this glitchy, unwieldy mess. This would have been done so much better by the community.

One of the greatest board games ever made, finally available for online play. Cosmic Encounter is an incredibly fun game that is deceptively simple to understand. The real twist comes from the 50 unique alien powers within the game, each of which gives you a different special ability or allows you to twist the rules in some way. This gives Cosmic a huge amount of variety, and in a game of alliances, negotations, betrayals, and shared victories, lends itself to a memorable and unique experience each time you play. I played the physical board game version of Cosmic Encounter several times each week last year with friends at my university, most of whom have graduated and scattered to new jobs across the states. The Cosmic Encounter Connector was the first time we were able to 'sit down' and play together in months, and the experience was just as fun as ever. If you're looking for a great game to play with friends, family, or strangers who live far away, or just want to get into an awesome board game, I can't recommend this enough.

Disappointed that there is no option to display your large alien image next to you. Even though images in the DLC suggest that it's somehow possible.

I would not recommend buying this without knowing the following caveats (that could easily be fixed by the programmers): -Many flare cards do not have normal cards "backs," but instead have the Ace flare front, making them easily distinguishable in hands, very much effecting gameplay. -Since the new TTS update (~May 2020), the boxes that allow you to hide cards from others are now broken and unusable. Anything within them are visible to others. -Maybe the biggest one: ships and cards *regularly* fall through the table with or without your knowledge. You have to check under the table (on the base/ledge underneath) every few turns to look for fallen pieces. Sometimes, if planets are registering a strange number of ships, you have to check under the planets for glitched ships too. -We've even had several instances of players' ships randomly duplicating, giving them more ships than normally allotted, and showing up in other odd ways like registering as -2 ships instead of 1 ship or registering on planets as black ships instead of white. -In general, the literal build of the table works against the functionality of the game. The ledge underneath catches glitching cards and ships instead of letting them fall through (and reappear center table). The gaps in the table encourage more dropped pieces. To a lesser extent (i.e. I wouldn't change these, but they're worth mentioning): the hexagonal pattern around the warp for card placement makes discarding, playing encounter cards, etc. much more fiddly than it needs to be, and glitching ships (if they're lucky enough to completely fall off the table) appear in the warp, making it difficult to know if a ship just glitched or was actually lost to the warp. -Other small mentions: Ships don't snap on to planets well. They prefer to snap into the center of the planet regardless of player color, allegiance, etc. It might be better if they just don't snap into place at all. There's also a large "highlight the hyperspace gate button" next to the warp that, after 20+ games, I still can't figure out what it does... because it doesn't highlight the hyperspace gate. Oh, and it doesn't include any sort of in game timer for negotiations! The time limit is literally a part of the game... I get many negotiations you don't need it, but I love having one when I know I have more or less leverage than my opponent. It ups the tension (and, again, is a part of the rules). EDIT: Also, when the game loads, the Hoard Tokens randomly spawn on / near the Warp in the center of the table. Very minor, but very indicative of the issues the game currently has. All that being said, if you and your friends are on board with knowing where certain flares are in people's hands, are okay with the attack 40 being stuck under the table all game, and can find another way to use aliens that semi-require the hidden component box (e.g. Quartermaster), it's still worth getting this game. It's just frustrating that five times as much care and attention to detail seems to go into fan-made mods of lesser games. If any cosmic aficionados here on TTS had their chance to create this, we'd no doubt have a version that runs WAY smoother (and it would be partially scripted)!!
