Nation Red offers competent mindless slaughter with just enough progression mechanics to keep you clicking through an endless digital abattoir. The game succeeds precisely where it should disturb you: making mass killing feel satisfying. Your brain won't distinguish between meaningful challenge and skinner-box reward loops—it just wants the next perk, the next weapon, the next dopamine hit.
If you seek a mechanically sound arena shooter that doesn't pretend to be more than it is, Nation Red delivers efficient digital murder. Just don't mistake your growing kill count for accomplishment.

I don't understand why this game has so many positive reviews. There are so many better twin stick shooters out there. The controls are clunky, it's not optimized for the Steam Deck and there is zero plot, you can just choose to go in different arenas and get swarmed by zombies. I'd say it's a decent time killer, but does anyone really need a time killer game when there are so many genuinely good ones out there?
