Layers of Fear is a masterpiece. It's a psychological horror, which slowly drives you insane as you start to understand what's going on inside the head of the main character. The plot is creepy and depressing and the way it's presented sucks you in and makes you keep playing despite the sickening atmosphere. 10/10 for me.

Ended up questioning reality. The house kept changing, dolls blinked, and the walls whispered at me. By the end, I wasn't sure if I played the game... or if it painted me. Layers of Fear drew me in immediately with its dense atmosphere and clever tricks to subvert and skew your sense of reality. Sure, some jump scares are a bit cheap (and some hilarious), but that's by no means detrimental to the overall experience. Had I played this before knowing that Bloober would tackle the Silent Hill remakes, I would have been ecstatic to hear the news, this way around I can simply appreciate all the moments in Layers for how they informed the design decisions in SH2R. Yes, Layers is short, and the ending a bit of a letdown, but it's still a haunting horror experience that any fan of immersive psychological horror should play at least once. Also, it's highly replayable.

I’m honestly torn on this game. If you’re looking for a chill horror experience that doesn’t rely on cheap jumpscares, it does the job, but the problem is it’s not really that scary either. I’ll give them credit because the atmosphere is cool and artsy, and the shifting environments are creative. But all of that style doesn’t mean much when the game itself feels like it lacks real substance. You’re mostly walking through a series of scripted scares that lose impact after a while, and the outcomes of each scenario don’t feel all that satisfying in the end. It’s an interesting experience, but not something I’d rush to play again.

Even with some errors on frame work and animations such as some corners not being finished, floating candles or the curtain scare that looked like someone was moving around the ceiling. Its still a great piece, will need the other endings but with what I've seen I'm happy. The art was beautiful as well as showing the different eye views of the story. Some people are just hurt, they only become a monster through others eyes and stories. When the ink bleeds into others life, your nightmares become theirs as well just in different masks.

One of the best horror games in my opinion. I dont wanna spoil anything, but the creators of this game has a thinking that is just...out of this world. I got this game gifted, and i have played it 2 times. And its just AMAZING. If you ever get the chance to play it, DO IT!
