The remastered version is really sluggish. The bots can run circles around you. You're dead before you even know what happened. Also, a lot of the controls that do multiple things don't transition when they're supposed to. I've been busted for pulling out a weapon when I was trying to right click on a bank teller more times than I can count. The old version still plays on Windows 7 and at this moment, the new version is actually a downgrade.

Graphically, it's a huge stup up from the original. The graphics are very comparable to the Xbox 360 version of Bioshock Infinite. The weapon handling is pretty smooth, cameras seem to work better, and the AI is pretty good, although I think the AI could be harder. Also, you can see your legs, which is nice. It's still in alpha but if you have $15 laying around, pick it up on sale. The atmosphere and core concept are unique, and the Art Deco designed ships are easy on the eyes and fun to play on. What Blazing Griffin can improve on or add besides what they're already wokring on: -more difficult AI, whether it be raising their movement speed, accuracy, ability to avoid cameras, whatever, just make them better at finding and eliminating their targets, even if the target is you or me. -always room for more weapons -maybe a 'hardcore' mode limited to the smaller maps where you have no hud and no hint as to where your quarry is. -ability to drop bundles of money, say $500 or $1000 to bait players into going into dangerous zones -do a free weekend to drum up business and build playerbase -4 pack with bundle pricing, or raise the price to $25-$30 but do like the old game did and get a gift to give to a friend so they can play too, this way you'd sell more copies, albeit at a discount, via bundling. The minimum order would be 2 copies but the effective price per copy would remain at $12-$15.

R.I.P. The Ship 2004-2011 Left to die by Outerlight, straight up executed by Blazing Griffin. I am one of the original 2006 players on my lost account, and it is still my first game with the most hours on this account. I still remember the day I picked it up at Target on a CD. My first steam game ever, and the only one on that old profile. This game does not exist to Blazing Griffin. The Ship is still dead. I have had hope for 12 YEARS, and I've been giving them the benefit of the doubt for 5 of them. Instead of holding to their promise and finishing Remasted, they made 3 other games. 3 whole games. Conceived, designed, modelled, programmed, compiled, and published, from blank window to full game. (Not to mention their film studio) Yet, they couldn't be bothered to open the Unity Editor for 5 seconds and fix bugs, let alone add all the missing features they promised. Unprofessional at best and manipulative at worse. They clearly do not care about The Ship. They tricked a dying fanbase into funding their other products, and they're never coming back. The last update on The Ship: Remasted's status was AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR THEIR NEXT GAME. They never returned. "Just wait, we're a small indie studio" their FAQ says, yet they've grown to like 5 times their original size since then. All started by the game and fans they 100% ignore. Every single day all these years, on their Discord, on their Steam, on their Reddit, and probably the others too, people try and try and try to get TS:R to work, realize it's an abandoned mess, and then try their hardest to get the old Source servers working (with more success too!). Almost as if BG never even did anything. All they did is make sure a better studio will never actually make a new The Ship. Crickets chirp for their other games yet they continuously ignore the faint dying spark of The Ship. I wanted to have hope of someday, they told us they were that someday back in 2011. Today's the day I stop waiting. I Do Not Recommend ANYTHING by Blazing Griffin. Maybe it's just The Ship today, but tomorrow it could be something YOU like. 5 years of patiently waiting and more chances than they deserved, and today is my final "maybe someday." I thought about The Ship again today, then I realized todays date, and it dawned on me. It's not someday. The Ship is gone, thank you Blazing Griffin. I'm not getting burned again by another "We will, we will, we will, we will, oops sorry project cancelled." Your priorities are obvious. I funded your stupid company and you spat on us. If I could, I would refund this game and take every extra dollar you made with my dollars on other projects. Steam should have an abandonware refund option for devs like you that swindle people in the long run. I don't normally rate games, but this brought it out of me. I feel it in my heart and I cannot ignore it like I have all these years. Blazing Griffin took our money and abandoned us like con artists. Just like the time BitLife purchased InstLife ONLY to discontinue it and shove BitLife down the other fans throats. They said the same thing too, "we're gonna fix up InstLife. Anyway, here's BitLife" Liars. Just like Blazing Griffin. "we're gonna fix up The Ship: Remasted. Anyway here's Murderous Pursuits instead." Identical. Insidious. I give up. Nothing has changed. All the hope was false. I waited years for a version I could gift to all my friends. I would've happily been a walking billboard for this game, but there was never anything to share. For my own sanity, I rip this bandaid off. The Ship isn't one of my favorite games anymore. The Ship doesn't exist. Hope you're happy you got the rights to say "Mr X" in another game and do nothing else with The Ship, because none of us are.

The Master server is down so there is nothing worth doing in this game. There is no content. This game should not still be sold when there is no content left on it. DO NOT BUY

I purchased this game way back when it first entered early access because I was a big fan of the first. I tried it out upon release and found it to be a broken, unplayable mess. But it was early days. I decided to wait it out to see if the game would improve over time. Now, after learning that it was out of early access and had been officially released as a complete game, I came back to it to see if things had improved. It's a case of two steps forward, twenty steps back. First, let's talk about the main draw, the main feature on display: the improved graphics over the original. Well, they certainly look better in that the textures are a lot cleaner and the ships look more atmospheric. However, character models are ugly and even look unfinished despite playing on the highest settings. Worse still, when interacting with NPCs like guards and bartenders, parts of the map flicker and thus make the walls and floors disappear. The game also drops frames for some bizarre reason almost anywhere on the map at random times, so I couldn't figure out what was causing these drops. Considering that this is a HD remake, this is just piss poor. Even worse is the gameplay. The core is largely the same as the original, but with a couple of changes such as spawns no longer being exclusive to the cabin areas. This is good as it allows a greater diversity of weapons to enter the field sooner and thus updating the MFK list more frequently. However, using the weapons is another matter entirely. Combat in this game is the most broken aspect of all. In several melee duels, I've managed to clearly hit my opponent seven or eight times, only for me to drop dead when my opponent swings once even though I'm at full health. It's not as if I was on critical health. I was a fresh spawn and we were both using the same weapon. But by far, the worst gameplay aspect of this game is the needs system. In the original, the needs were well balanced so as to not interfere with the main goal of the game to keep the action moving. In this version, the needs seem to come before everything else and have gotten me killed despite me trying my best to keep them satisfied. Sleep was the biggest killer. No matter how many times I rested to restore the meter, seconds later it would demand that I go to sleep again or force me to sleep on the spot, getting me killed. I'd be alright with it if it was required every other round or so, but when I'm having to take care of it at least 3 times in one round, that's just annoying. If people still played the original, I'd recommend that you go and play that instead. But that game is dead too. It just feels like the devs stopped caring about this version, randomly decided to declare this version as finished and ran off. I was expecting big things from this but I guess that you should just never trust early access, no matter how promising it is. They'll always screw you over in the end.

If you loved the original, you will love this. the only issue i have (edit: which is no longer an issue) is that literally no one is playing on the 4 dedicated servers i saw on the player list, but hopefully the summer sale will spike the player count. Since writing this the number of servers has increased and people are playing. It is great being able to play The Ship again.

I honestly am just disappointed with this one, I loved the concept for the original '' The Ship '' I even played it a little ( And enjoyed it. ) But The Ship Remasted is just dead. I can't really blame people for quitting this game, You can play this game like a quake shooter with little to no punishment. I remember when I really wanted to play The Ship and l shiz you not the next day I saw The Ship Remasted on the store and it was going to get released in about a month, I immediatley was ready to purchase it on launch day. But within the week the game died, Mostly because it was filled to the brim with bugs and fps drops. You're telling me that I can run Witcher 3 at a constant 85 fps but I can only run your shizzy cartoon looking crapfest at 25 fps? Yeah talk about poor optimization.... And when I said that you can play this game like a quake shooter I meant it, you can strafe just like you're in DOOM or Quake. I quickly learned that you could do this and my strategy basically boiled down to getting the blunderbuss or tommy gun and strafing/jumping around like I was playing Quake. This was just a cash grab by Blazing Griffin ( At least I think that is the developer, plz correct me if I'm wrong thx. ) Don't by it, it's dead. Buy DOOM or a tournament shooter, It would be more worthy of your money. Thank you for reading my little indignant rant, Have a good one! ☞  ͜ʖ  ☞

Great concept (as was the original), but released into EA without much content. Patches are glacialy slow and content is still way less then the original had. Can not understand how the Devs would think this could work out. Even the original game failed due to playerbase and it had way more stuff. How can someone expect releasing a content-cut-down-version with lots and lots of bugs and then not patching it ASAP to surpase the original, to do any better? The only way this could have worked is with dedicated Devs or kickstarter funding, then releasing a product that is already BETTER then the original, befoe starting to update on it. As the game is and was for some time now, it only scares of ppl from it. Wel joke is on them a glitch with steam made the game exessable for under 2 $ at release, so not even the fast cashgrab worked out. Still a great concept of a game

As of writing this review, The Ship finally feels like a proper remake. If you've never played the ship, it is a hunting game where you are given someone to kill onboard, but you are also being hunted at the same time. a constant needs system, money for kills chart, and security problems all come togeter to create a chaotic experience. PROS: +90% of features are implemented +Gameplay is solid as ever, +10 maps, +5 gamemodes +lots of weapons +somewhat competent AI +16 player, dedicated servers CONS: -not many of players online, make sure you have friends sidenote: The dev's kinda went dark when the game first launched, and it has been 7 months between 1.3 and 1.4, so take that as you will.

A cash-grab bad version of The Ship. Why is it worse? - No water in pools - Missing a map (because the map had water) They clearly weren't bothered. - No elevators - Same textures, just different lighting which actually is worse on doors. - Worse options (can't change music volume for some reason? really annoying) - Can't have as many AI on your ships - Secret rooms were removed - Still nobody playing Feels like a scam. I actually recommend you buy the old one.
