This game will only be for you if you like solving (programming) puzzles that require you to read a short manual to understand all of the rules beforehand.
I really enjoyed this game in particular because of how restrictive the commands are that you are able to use and the interesting type of logic that comes from those restrictions. You essentially program several microcontrollers that each contain two registers to contain numbers and any if statement essentially always just checks whether the second register is non-zero. Therefore any operation that requires you to store more information means you have to spread a part of your program over multiple registers that interact with each other. You tend to create little microsystems that you re-use. But to optimize your solutions you then want to give a single controller as many responsibilities as you can, while it may only contain like 15 lines of code.

Spent hours staring at a single node. 10/10 would crash out again.

Literally unplayable; the asm operands are backwards like in AT&T syntax, which should be considered a crime against humanity, and there isn't even a setting to flip them

Fun puzzles and challenges, never know what's coming next. Some questions are very difficult and can take awhile mainly due to the constraints imposed although that makes it all the more fun to be creative in solving.

The assembly is extremely simplified, so it's very easy for anyone to pick up and enjoy. The extreme simplification also makes the challenges difficult for people who are experienced writing standard assembly with more than 1 usable register.
Good game, I recommend for all audiences. In my opinion, even when it's not on sale, the price is very reasonable.

This is the second zachtronics game I've played and after many hours the first that I have completed. this is the perfect game if you are looking for a difficult logic puzzle game. TIS-100 is a minialist game. the story is simple but there is a neat bit of world building with a fun twist once you reach the mid part of the game.

This game is straight up assembly programming. The TIS-100's unique architecture means that there are new problems and solutions, so you can't just use existing assembly knowledge, but the mindset you need to play this game is that of an assembly programmer.
I, personally, love that.

- Learnt MIPS assembly language.
- Decided that I would never need this knowledge for the rest of my life.
- Started this game.
- Tricked into enjoying the simplified same thing with less flexibility.
I don't know what I like anymore. 10/10.
Great little puzzles for anyone who learnt assembly code for no reason.
