I would say it scratches the itch of silent hunter style of gameplay but for battleships. The only real concern I have is that the game does not have a lot of variety in terms of gameplay. Scharnhorst is my second favorite battleship but I think players might get tired of looking at the same ship over and over. I think at least adding Tirpitz or maybe a Hipper would add a lot more to the game even if they all fight the same. Other than that the game is very good sim and have no massive issues.
My dream is to have a game like this set in the Pacific so I could play my favorite Battleship, Ise.
You may say my favorite is a weird choice I say shush look at the gun layout.

Fantastic.
The uboat gameplay of the surface vessels. Playing as the lone hunter or the admiral of German fleets, how and when you decide to strike is up to you. Scout with your aircraft, set up the perfect ambush, or just charge in guns blazing.
Get your hands on the controls of the guns directly from the gunner sights, or command from the bridge and watch your strategy unfold. This simulation really strikes the right chord for those of us who enjoy the tactical naval simulations like Silent Hunter/Uboat.
Highlights:
- While graphics are not the goal or biggest strength of the title, it does set up some absolutely stunning scenes. This is EA so graphics will most likely improve over time too.
- GUI is intuitive, responsive.
- The simulation feels right. The ship feels heavy in its maneuvers.
- Things you expect from a deep simulation are modeled.
- Multiple ways to play, without forcing you into one. Change up mid scenario if you wish.
Things I hope improve during/after EA:
- Sound design can be improved. I hope the "BOOM" of the guns can really show my neighbors how powerful the Scharn was.
- Graphical fidelity, and optimization. I don't mean optimization for more FPS, but to enable my card to not run at 100% load producing 200fps. I hope it can be tweakable in the future to allow for prettier sights at lower rates, without drawing so many Watts.
- Please, please, please add the Bismark. I'll pay for that as well.

Nostalgia hits hard with this one. It reminds me of Silent Hunter series, and it's not bad I sunked waaay tu much hours in SHIII and surface warfare mods. Only thing I would wish for is more ships, even in DLC's, but for now Scharnhost is scratchint the ich.

Incredible idea, huuuuge potential, definitely recommend, to support the developer. MIght become the Silent Hunter of the surface, if modding will be a thing. Great start, hopefully to an even greater future. WoW, get out of here, big boys are coming

Legitimately one of the coolest games I've played. I enjoyed Sea Power, War on the Sea, Destroyer: Uboat Hunter and Uboat but this game takes the cake. It's just too cool and fun to play. I plan on spending many more hours playing this gem of a game.

The price is fine, and the game does indeed scratch an itch (and fills a void in the niche); but it needs a lot of work to be even called a simulation. As it stands right now, it's more akin to a shore battery shoot-a-duck, because the ships rather move on rails than sail on water. High waves won't even obstruct your line of sight to the target! Not to speak about wind (there's no wind), roll and stabilization of the guns. Dispersion at long ranges is present, however. 4/10 for ballistics.
Critical technical issues, like the extreme GPU temperatures that can shut down computers, are not the focus of this review. Nor are the primitive 3D modelling and texturing.
And because this gets stressed a lot in the discussions; I don't care if it's a lone dev, or a multi-million budget studio: I'm judging the product by its own merits either the case. I'm a consumer - not a charity fund.

Since I played Silent Hunter III as a teenager I wanted a similar game for capital ships. Now we have one and its start is very promising. Can recommend to buy without hesitation!
Dear Bracer, if you can build a game that is as deep and as well made as Silent Hunter III (but maybe just with a better crew management system), your game will become as legendary as SH3!
Keep it up, very good work so far!

I started off playing Destroyer on the Commodore 64 back in the Mid-80s. Then went to Great Naval Battles, then Silent Hunters 1-5, to Uboat, Carrier Battles Vol 1, and now here. All of these (and some I probably forgot about) appear to have influenced this game in both minor and major ways.
This is one of the top 5 EAs I've ever played. Some minor bugs of course, but it plays like a beta about to go full release.
Although there is no campaign (yet), the individual scenarios were fun and just being able to walk around a historically accurate Scharnhorst class BB/BC was like going on a historical tour. Love the music!! Graphics are nice as are the sounds of the main guns going off.
So far the play is not complicated and I like the simplistic learning curve. Attention to detail in this game is incredible! Be it the tubes lowering to reload, then raising to fire again or the time it takes to get up to speed. One particular spot is where you can see the ships systems and remove layers to see the boiler rooms (the little fire is pretty cool by the way) or the gunnery stations, etc. is a great add!
I agree with other reviews on the price. This is a $39 game right now and by release should probably be $50, but it is a steal at the moment.
Dev - great job and looking forward to where you take this because it is clear this is a labor of love and not a money grab.

I have been waiting for a game exactly like this for a very long time and so far, it does not disappoint. I am a massive fan of WWII convoy warfare and it is a perfect combination games such as Silent Hunter 5, UBOAT, War On The Sea, UBOAT Hunter, etc. and has so much potential. For the price it is an exceptional game so far and i cannot wait for more updates.
The concept of the game so far is extremely well executed and anyone interested in surface raiders or the Scharnhorst specifically will love this. Currently there is maybe 6-8 hours of unique gameplay but that is exactly what is advertised so I cannot complain. Bugs I have observed have been minimal so far and the tutorials give you a good basic understanding of gameplay. (TURN DOWN THE MUSIC BEFORE YOU PLAY) For $20 you definitely get your money's worth.
