Another quality backrooms game. No complaints here.

Level design from ch1-2 is awesome, beautifully architectured liminal spaces. Bug starting on Chapter 3 with textures however, soon as its fixed will review further aspects!

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of content this game has as of typing this. It's an early access, but it already felt like a full experience. The sound design was spot on and I had a feeling of unease the whole time playing. I'm looking forward to the future updates and completed version. Giving it's low price point, I indeed recommend picking this one up if you're a fan of liminal walking simulators.

Excellent game, but I agree with other reviewers it's excessively punishing. Intra-level checkpoints that prevented you from going backward and an adjustable run speed similar to POOLs would help. I didn't find the layout frustrating so much as the sheer scale and how far backward a circular path would take you. The darkness was a challenge. I don't know if it's intentional or my display, but one area I couldn't explore. Just had to hope I didn't need to. Still very worth it. Haven't finished yet, but I imagine I will when I get the hankering for a liminal space.

8/10 *review includes minor spoilers* this is one of the best liminal spaces games I have ever played, I did feel it was *too* similiar to POOLS at times but it could be a coiencidence, I loved it, its gorgeous, the graphhics are mostly beautiful and it gave me chills on several occasions, only one note is that it's too easy to get lost and too punishing if you do, AVOID a slide that has the sign "stay away" next to it, as it takes you back A LOT. beautiful game over all. I LOVED every part of it EXCEPT for the part with the green walls but it was okay, you can see how much love and thought were put into it and I can't wait to see whats next!

Cool aesthetics don't make up for poor level design. Easy to quickly become bored when you loop back to the same room 20 times, architecture doesn't do anything to guide you to the cool parts of the map (or towards any progression). The props and decals are also just silly and pointless. It doesn't have to be much but I'd rather the writings on the wall actually convey that some person was lost here and not just "oooo ruuunnnnn!!!!" Even Gmod maps made by teenagers get that part right.

As a slow-paced, action-free backrooms experience, the best comparison points for Liminal Shift are games like Pools and the The Complex series. Unfortunately, Liminal Shift falls short of the standard. It has wonderful production values, looks and sounds great, and runs reasonably well most of the time, but the environmental design is where it sadly falls down. The levels are just too big and repetitive to enjoy walking through, and they are not elegantly designed to funnel the player towards the exit, but will have you walking in circles for ages. Possibly a more authentic approach to a backrooms-type game, but not a very enjoyable walking simulator experience. I found myself sprinting through, which you don't want to always be doing in a game like this. Ultimately gave up in Chapter 5, which is the third poolrooms-themed level, by the way, when I got to the dead end of a fairly long path and decided I didn't feel like walking back.
