I'll keep it short. If you're into text-based games and medieval themes, this story is definitely worth your time. I do hope the developer finds a way to add quality English voice acting, that would make it a 10/10 for me. For now, it's a solid 8/10.

It felt like the text-based genre was long gone, but The Succession of Changing Kings brings it back to life in style. The game is beautifully crafted, even though the core gameplay revolves around dialogue choices and building decisions from the king’s chamber, the gorgeous animated map keeps things engaging. Everything is pleasantly animated and polished.
The developer openly states that AI was used to illustrate quests, which to be honest doesn't really bother me, the chosen style is easy on the eyes and doesn't overshadow the game itself. I genuinely hope there’ll be a DLC or a spiritual successor once the main story is finished. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything quite like this on Steam.

This game is one of the best games i have ever played. Good balance if reading decision making and level of complexity. It's unpredictable and I love it. The text to speech is amazing especially the Spanish of the best ever imo. I hope you can make more games like these as it has helped me with my struggles and we need more of these. God bless you

The decisions feel totally randomized for whether you live or die, and there's no save feature so I had to restart constantly. Also the game just ends after about 100 days - which skip approximately five days at a time so the entire game ends in about an hour. Not sure what I'm missing but I would not recommend this game to anyone

A pleasant text-based game where you choose answers on behalf of the heir to the throne. There are many decisions that are somewhat right or somewhat wrong. The game has an overarching storyline, which I liked and which pleasantly sets it apart from Reigns, a game I enjoyed back in the day. Overall, I recommend it, but I suggest replacing the voice acting.

This is a completely AI generated game. The Art is AI, the voice acting is AI, and I strongly believe the writing is AI as well. There doesn't seem to be anything in this game that seems to have been made with care or passion. My advice to the developers, hire actual artists, voice actors, and writers for your game instead of using a fad technology for all the important work.

Ah, I’d been looking for a game like this for a long time, something you can enjoy at your own pace, disconnecting from reality and immersing yourself in another world and story. This game is set in a fictional kingdom where you play as the heir to the throne (the dauphin), awaiting your coronation in 100 turns (or 444 days). Naturally, no one wants to see you crowned, and there are plenty of chances to die along the way. Dying, by the way, is great fun - each death comes with a humorous achievement.
One more important point: the game has a very low entry threshold. It’s extremely easy to get the hang of everything.

After completing the first act and returning to the game with the release of the second, there was some concern that the developers wouldn’t be able to maintain the same level of quality. Fortunately, those fears proved unfounded. I really liked the new mechanics, which add variety to the gameplay (war, a new faction). Looking forward to Act Three.

Based on the images on Steam, one might get the impression that this game is somewhat similar to CK3. It’s not. The Succession of Changing Kings is a decision-making game, a well-visualized text-based adventure with some interactive elements (you can purchase buildings, hire people, etc.). I'm a big fan of games that offer true replayability and leave a different aftertaste each time. In that sense, I’d say the first act is a success.
I would have preferred if the developer hadn't used AI to animate the quest illustrations, but considering this is a solo project, it’s his first work, and the price of the game is modest, I don’t see it as a major drawback. The music is pleasant, and the map is beautifully crafted.

This game is an interactive visual novel with a political theme. In other words, a competitor to the much more popular game "Suzerain".
I wish there was an option to leave a mixed review. Because, while some parts of Succession of Changing Kings are brilliant, and the potential is amazing, it feels very unfinished. And I don't mean that only part 1 out of 4 is currently available - more parts will be coming soon. I mean it lacks some essential quality-of-life features. Listing what I would like to be implemented, in no particular order:
- The ability to zoom-in on the map, and a choice of font sizes. I play on a high-resolution laptop monitor, which makes everything look a bit small.
- The option to be a queen as well as a king. I've no idea why that wasn't implemented from the start.
- The game is all about trying to juggle your reputation with the 4 factions: Commoners, Nobles, Military and Priests. However, in order to see what your reputation actually is, you need to Hire an informant - first spend initiative (currency) hiring him, and then spend 1 point of initiative every few turns for upkeep. This makes about as much sense as paying for the upkeep of a cooker in a game about running a restaurant! Especially as low reputation with any faction results in death! I suggest ditching the informant and making reputations permanently visible from the start, so that the first few turns don't turn into a memory exercise.
- Talking of reputation, the default value is 5, the maximum is 10. Going above 6 increases your chance of a positive "booster" event for this particular faction, while going below 4 increases your chance of a negative event and, potentially, death. My question is: Why did I need to read a Steam guide to find this out? There should be a tutorial!
- The total length of the game is going to be 444 days. I have played 50 so far. Still don't know why the Tavern is even there...
Now for the positives:
- Quite a lot of content already.
- The writing is Brilliant! Serious enough to make you feel like your responsibilities matter; light-hearted enough to not be tedious (unlike "Suzerain"s); and the story has enough characters to feel like you are running a country, rather than a fairytale village.
- A good selection of possible solutions for every quest, none of which are too obvious. And one of the options is always "Do nothing".
- Clear interface that is easy to use.
TLDR: A very good game, and I recommend it, as long as you don't mind an unfinished product
