Challenging fun which keeps you coming back for more! Really good game mechanics and great deck building options. A very unique game that I have really enjoyed so far and hope to keep playing for long to come.

Amazing game play loop. Excellent atmosphere, very spooky. Devs responded to a bug comment the day I reported it. Incredible game for deck builder/rogue-lite/haunted house enjoyers.

This game is fun, but it crashes A LOT. Edit: I sent off that save file to the developers' email at their request. The atmosphere and mechanics of the game are fun and I want to keep playing, but its crashing every twenty minutes makes that impossible. I'm going to come back to this in the future, hopefully by then it'll be stable and I can give it a thumbs-up.

This is a very balanced unique card game that scratches the gaming itch I didn't know I had. It's cozy in a dark way.

I absolutely love this game. I never knew how much I wanted to *feel* like a haunted house. Having a few different kinds of haunted houses you can be is a nice touch.

Deck of Haunts is a turn-based, dungeon-builder rogue-lite game with elements of deck-building and tower-defence. The objective of the game is to defend the Heart Room of your haunted house from incoming visitors. With your chosen deck of cards, the goal is to drain intruding visitors of their Health and/or Sanity. For every visitor whose Health and/or Sanity is drained to zero, you gain Essence, which serves as experience points. You can spend Essence on building and/or upgrading rooms, adding and/or removing cards, and replenishing your Heart Room's health. Each time a visitor stumbles upon the Heart Room, you lose health. If too many visitors discover the Heart Room, your health will hit zero and you lose the game. On the other hand, if you successfully defend your Heart Room for 28 in-game nights, you win the game. This game is delightfully simple to learn and easy to navigate, especially with mouse controls. But, like with most rogue-lite games, it can take numerous runs to master via trial-and-error. In my experience, it can be frustratingly easy to allow visitors to slip through your grasp and discover the Heart Room rather early in a run. Common methods of deterring visitors away from the Heart Room include teleporting them to a random room. If all else fails, try slaying at least one visitor and leaving their body in a room adjacent to the Heart Room. Most visitors would immediately panic and head for the exit at the sight of a dead body. But remember that, if visitors escape alive, you will not be able to receive Essence from them. If you are a seasoned gamer with a passion for building dungeons, I would strongly recommend the Deck of Haunts, especially if you enjoy similar games such as Tecmo's Deception (a.k.a. Kagero) or, earlier yet, Haunting: Starring Polterguy.

Nice cards but zero story. Tutorial could use some work.

Step into the shoes of a John Gacy, as you build a house that no one will ever leave in this Spooky Haunted House simulation. ✔️ Visual's are cool, Spooky vibe is efficiently there. ✔️ The Gameplay is good. It took a while to get the hang of things but once i did i really enjoyed it. ✔️ Has an Endless mode which i really appreciated. ✔️ Love the game design and ideas behind this one, could be quite a hidden gem if dev's dont abandon it! ❓Audio & Music leaves alot to be desired, its a haunted house game but the music sucks. ❓Atmosphere could be a little better, but its not terrible either. ❓ALOT of potential here, im curious too see where this goes. ❌ Not alot of Re-play value right now. ❌ Price is too high for the content provided currently. ❌ Its an Early Access game really, needs another year of fleshing out. ❌ Not enough room diversity, And not enough rooms in general, Could do some really cool stuff with Gardens/Bathrooms/Attic's/Basements etc. ❌ Some of the Traits (The one that make them only take 1 damage a turn for example) need a re-think. They border the "anti-fun" area quite a bit.

I like the game, the core gameplay loop is fun, but I waited until it left early access to buy and it clearly still needs some time in the oven (barebones house-building mechanic, lack of variety in enemy types, lack of variety in run progression). The developer has promised significant updates in the near future that may address my issues, but this just underscores that the game isn't finished. I may change my review after the promised updates.

This game had a pretty good idea and made a great framework but never polished it with enough content. Room cards and action cards are all. No relics, no events, no shops, making no replay value. Only after 1 or 2 games, you will find out an ideal room design and figure out a few basic card combos, and the fun part ends here. All play after that becomes trash time to fill the Steam achievements.
