I've played a couple rounds, and this is a pretty spot on recreation of AOS. Unfortunately the player count just isn't there to get a good game going yet. Hopefully with the sale occurring at the time of this review, a few people will pick it up and we'll be able to make something happen. Until then, it's tough to say if this thing will pan out.
I will say though, this is a MUCH better and more faithful recreation of AOS than any of the other freeware clones out there right now. I hope it picks up, because I'm getting some really solid 2014 nostalgia vibes playing this thing.

The game severely needs a PvE game mode because there is nobody playing this. Honestly, a "Killing Floor"-type experience would work well, especially with how you can build up a fortress of some sort and hold out.
I would really like to see this game succeed but for the time being, I cannot recommend.
Edit: I would also like the optimization to be better. I couldn't reach a smooth 60 FPS on an 11th Gen i3 with integrated graphics.

Best FPS I've ever played, especially the zombie mode, where in players start off as survivors/humans and after a short amount of time a random set of players turn into zombies. Once a zombie kills a player they permanently turn into a zombie until the match is over. There are many strategies in zombie mode from building elaborate sky bases, to tunneling, to parkouring and run and gunning.

It is so similar to the original Battle Builder! Ace of Spades and Gmod were the 2 games that got me on steam. Heck I have had an AoS profile picture since my steam adventure started. I am excited to be a part of the Ace Squared journey. While the players are few and far between, when you do find a lobby, it is a blast!
