If you like those old Jakie Chan movie from the 80s, like "Rumble in the Bronx", you'll love this game. It took its insparation directly from those type of films.

Really cool take on the bullet heaven genre.
Takes a few runs to unlock some of the environmental interactions, but it really gets going once you start unlocking those. Flipping over tables, off walls, kicking/throwing random items into the hordes, etc. The environments play a big roll in the runs. Other bullet heaven game's levels feel boring in comparison now.

SUCH a good idea for a game and executed perfectly.
I've wanted a game for so long that captures the feeling i had when playing Sifu, and this hits it.
LOVE the combo building, unlocking new moves, and trying to figure out the inspirations for enemies, bosses, and areas,

Sure, there's a few mechanics and scaling that could use some polish, but all in all it was a great fun pass-time. The feel of the game is excellent, and it has solid game-play behind the glitz and whiz-bang. Just a great effort by the developers where they put huge amounts of work into the smallest details. It comes off as such a hit.
I thought it had a nice balance of grinding and unlocking. I chose to play on the 2nd difficulty setting from the start and skipped Easy ('fighter difficulty') so perhaps my play hours are inflated from the norm. But I liked it enough that I was happy to purposefully slow down the grind so I wouldn't reach the end too quickly.
It's got so much of the "flavor" of a good kung fu action fight. You control the protagonist fighter I guess I'll call him Karate Man. You get to do all kinds of outlandish things like skidding over and under obstacles to deliver kicks, grab vertical poles to swing around with face-kicks or sometimes pole-vault across the levels' rooftops as a shortcut. You can run up walls and backflip to reposition behind enemies who react somewhat bewildered, just like a corny action fight, and spread out in a subtle mini circle where you land. You get a little breathing room to line up some pot-shots or huge chain combo. You kick doors open in enemies' faces, topple environmental hazards on mobs. It's silly rich in action movie tropes.
There's "heavy" objects you can kick in orthogonal directions, like shopping carts and shipping crates. You've got weapons like umbrellas and bats and pipes and ladders and brooms, and I swear there was a whole potted plant you could swing around in an early level. Don't sue me if I'm wrong. But there's so much variety. There's various debris items that Karate Man will kick at a nearby targets inflicting splash damage & bleed, such as pails, trash bags, and so forth.
The entire game is played with just the LStick, other than using A to interact with the level-up screen. I liked how they really managed to put some depth into the gameplay, by forcing the player to get into the rhythm of Karate Man's attacks, and using the brief moments of cooldown to reposition the player or kite foes into a group. You can also use all the different environmental interactables to tweak your cooldowns. You can "drag" and extend them slightly depending on how you time your use of the environment objects or even weapons.
The visual details are excellent and they truly enhance the game feel. Just about every item in the 'sets' can be vandalized, kicked-open, shattered, knocked over, popped, collapsed, toppled on foes. Karate Man delivers a final concussive blow to a mob and a nearby rack of magazines explodes, with papers flying everywhere as the concussed bodies fly. It feels fabulous. Like the amount of animation is indie Metal Slug level. No corners cut anywhere in the details.
There's a few minor issues which should not discourage you from buying unless they sound like deal breakers. Weapon scaling and environmental object damage scaling aren't well tuned. They do great damage in the very early minutes of a level and at easy difficulty, but they quickly become obstacles you'd rather avoid. You can go haywire with a broom and grab fast XP at the start of a map, a good strategy. But after Karate Man levels up a few times and the mobs' HP rises, the weap/enviro damage doesn't keep up. Now you have to start AVOIDING the cool stuff. Honestly if KM is level 40 and the mobs are close to that, grabbing an umbrella means you might die unless you can strategically flee while spacing out blows to make it break as fast as possible.
Same thing with the full grocery carts and photocopiers on wheels you could use to mow down enemies... later on they just become frame traps because the won't even take 20% of a foes' HP, meanwhile you've wasted time kicking it as the cloud of enemies surrounds you. Also when you get to the hardest difficulty you'll find that you often are made to start with a garbage skill... and the pool available from RNG is trash. You gotta learn to recognize and quit to menu, restart, to avoid the frustration. These are all forgiveable in my view, considering how well it's made. Endless mode is unplayable though and needs major work.

I paid 5 euros and had fun for about 7 hours. But this game has impressively bad balance. Some skills deal way more damage than others, and picking up weapons is a bad idea since they don’t scale well. Yeah—an action game where weapons are useless.
It feels like the devs had a strict deadline and limited budget. They ended up making a 7/10 game, but with a bit more love it could have easily been a 9/10.

So it's a top-down rogue-lite auto attack survival game, and that's nothing new these days, but what sets this game apart are the options you have for environmental interactions and character positioning, which allows for a more skill based experience. You still get random drops as you go up in levels, the waves of enemies can be a little unpredictable, and you're set up to fail the first few times you play, but as things go on your options greatly increase, which again help you, the player, maneuver yourself within the environment for greater advantages. Sure the game just attacks for you, and it's not exactly Streets of Rage, but it's really a lot of fun, and it's a whole lot better than most games in this category.
