An adorably simple FPS that keeps you engaged with ramping difficulty as you progress. Blazing through the first 11 levels kept me somewhat interested but had me hoping that I wouldn't get bored too quickly. Right after finishing this stage did I finally notice the star ranking system and how I only had 2/3 stars... defeat every enemy, finish the level under the par time, and stay 100% accurate. This really opened my third eye in terms of fun and getting 3 stars on a given level before advancing to the next one was my definitive way to enjoy the game.
Lovely Planet's projectile flower gun particularly scratches my itch for skillful gunplay which plays incredibly well for bombs that must be shot midair before they reach the ground. Each shot is fairly slow so you'll have to consider each bomb's current speed and your distance away from it to get those satisfying airshots, the game is no slouch from expecting you to not only play through it quickly but also be ready to sometimes shoot several at a time in quick succession. Lovely Planet's other mechanics are slowly introduced in each world and help encourage you to play the game in the most enjoyable way possible. Much like it's arcade contemporaries there are plenty of easier ways to play if the game is giving you too much trouble. Your gun is semi-automatic so shooting bombs and enemy fire makes things considerably easier, the game does force you to play fast at times but these are more along the lines of micro challenges over playing an entire level quickly from start to end.
I had just about no issues with the game aside from some Japanese text not being translated and would've loved to have an optional crosshair. The game is more than playable regardless but these are small blemishes on an otherwise great experience. All in all a short but satisfying arcade shooter, absolutely worth the purchase if you're up for a somewhat challenging time with a relaxing artstyle!

Perhaps others may enjoy this game, but I do not. The art style and music are neat and well done, but I found the game itself to be incredibly punishing. Getting one shot by enemy attacks, or failing because I accidentally shot a friendly was definitely frustrating, but I could work with that, and when that is all that I have to worry about, then the game can be rather fun. What really made me not want to play the game anymore was the apples / litter. Perhaps if your bullets were a lot faster, then I would be more amenable to the existence of apples, but failing a level because I didn't shoot an apple in time felt frustrating in a way that simply wasn't fun.
