Very good game. After exactly 6 hours I have all the upgrades, weapons and everything. I have a feeling they wanted to make lore for the game because the world seems interesting and the microwaves, fridges, floppy disks and then the shift after taking the floppy disks feels like they wanted to do more for the story or lore.

TLDR: I highly recommend this game for anyone who wants a fun little shooter. Five dollars for about six hours of genuinely compelling gameplay is a really good deal when you're comparing it to 60-70 dollars for 20-30 hours of occasionally fun gameplay, as most AAA games are wont to be these days. Just do the math. Even after those 7 ish hours, I will still occasionally boot up the game just to blast and relax for a while. Some additional points: -The game feels punishing at first, but never feels unfair when you get killed, and you don't even lose everything you've accumulated if you die before you extract. -Progression feels extremely meaningful and fun. -Enemies are designed EXTREMELY well. They all behave somewhat differently, and you can identify almost every one using sound alone. -Weapons are extremely fun to shoot (except maybe the sniper rifle, but what can you expect from a game where most fights happen at less than 25 meters). -Although you have unlimited ammo for all weapons, you still are heavily incentivised to count your shots and aim carefully due to a variety of secondary mechanics, like barrel heat and empty reloads taking noticably longer -- I've never seen a game do something like this, and it works really well. -As you progress through the game, the way you tend to approach things goes from tense and tactical to blastin' and relaxin', as incentives for extraction become less and less of a consideration to make.

I'm addicted to HOLE. This is such a perfect tight game that combines movement shooter, extraction shooter and simulation in just the right amounts for a wonderful lil' afternoon snack. My only wishes are really just more content. Though I could see a sequel taking these ideas and really running with them. P.S. Maybe a leaderboard?

Game is very poorly optimized and feels very unfinished.

Great single player shooter. My only complaint is that I want more of it. Would love to see consumable items like armor or utility items added. Something for me to continue spending my currency on.

Hole is the best offline extraction shooter on the internet. Whilst it is very demanding on your system for such a small game, it plays like a charm. You start out nervous as hell, avoiding conflict and just trying to stay alive and extract, but as you improve you start charging enemies head first, and winning. Even once you've unlocked everything the game is still fun, as the level system provides a great challenge. 10/10, I just wish it was still being updated.

It's relatively short (I took my time with it and got all the upgrades and quests done in 6 hours) but they have a blueprint they could really expand on if they wanted to. It plays solidly and can be pretty creepy at times, I just wish it was a little more performance-friendly but my hardware is almost 10 years old so take that as you will.

Even amidst the increasing wave of Extraction Shooters, the singleplayer kind mind you, HOLE can stand on it's own feet. Very interesting artstyle on all the envinronments, guns and enemies, which are particularly creepy, giving the game a slight horror vibe.

I don't leave a lot of reviews, because who gives a shit what I say. That being said, this game deserves all the praise possible. It is aesthetically and mechanically incredible. I played Tarkov for a good year. A few hundred hours. But I escaped its grasp and have since been happier. Despite that, the pressure Tarkov induces along with the accompanying rush, is hard to match. Hole manages to do that for 5$ USD, while not invalidating the time you put in. There is a skill curve, and a learning curve. And it doesn't feel soul crushing to do. The levels are unique and well designed. Both to play and to look at. They aren't too straightforward/ You can get around after a few rounds, and they're not too complex where you'll be stumbling around confused constantly. That being said, it's not easy to map out mentally. But the guns you'll be using will make it feel oh so good. They are few, but they feel fantastic in every way. The early game lets you feel as weak as the things you're killing. And you will gradually get stronger in a very natural way. The aesthetic is phenomenal. There shouldn't be much else to say, as it should be experienced. It's cool, it's deeply uncomfortable, and it bridges horror very nicely. It matches that fear of Tarkov with actual horror elements. Buy this. Support this. I want updates and more. This is phenomenal.

An incredible amount of fun for the price of a sandwich. Start the game as a sewer dwelling scrub with nothing but a pistol, thrown into a liminal hellscape with muttering gangs of masked goons stalking the halls for your life, as anxiety grips your heart with every distant gunshot or encroaching footstep. Kill, collect money and items, extract, upgrade, repeat. Hours and many corpses later you drop in like a low poly John Wick, chambering a round of dragons breath into your shotgun, your trigger finger itchy against the pistol you're now a deadeye with; listening for the frantic footfalls and desperate gunshots of your enemies in the distance, who are now trapped in these surreal halls with YOU.
